December 14, 200718 yr After the new updates over the past couple of weeks, I believe that the rules need to be updated to be more accommodating to the changing times. Rule 4: Cheating/Bug Abuse Should go over what's considered bannable. For instance, the glitch with the players hunched over at the duel arena is hardly bannable, but in the case of the falador massacre, that's a different story. Rule 1 & 2 & 3 & 5 & 9 & 13 These rules all include player interaction, more importantly deception. So we can merge the three rules into 1: Player Interaction. This rule would encompass all matters of player interaction: -Do not use offensive language towards other players -Do not impersonate Jagex staff in order to deceive other players. -Do not encourage others to break rules -Do not ask for personal details. -Do not deceive other players for your own personal benefit. Rules 6 & 7 & 8 & 12 I believe that these rules should be merged together into one rule: Account limitations. This would encompass all three rules: 1. Accounts owned by one person cannot interact, or be logged in at the same time 2. Items/Accounts cannot be sold, or traded. Accounts cannot be loaned. 3. Account cannot be used alongside 3rd party applications to give you an unfair advantage. This includes macros, altered clients, etc. Rules 10 & 11 & 14 & 15 These rules all pertain to website related issues, so we'll merge them into one rule: Website/Forum/Customer Support Conduct These will include the following: -Abusing Customer support, as well as the forums. -Advertising in forums and in game -Blocking advertisements on the main page and on free play worlds. So here's the rules: Rule 1: Cheating/Bug Abuse Rule 2: Player Interaction Rule 3: Account Limitations Rule 4: Website/Forum/Customer Support conduct I decided to write this up because of players complaining that the number of rules that Jagex has posted up makes Runescape feel like a jail (Yes I know these complaints were...about two years ago, but better late than never, right?). This won't remove anything that isn't already impossible, but the aesthetic changes will certainly give a rise in the view towards the rules. This is what the new Runescape rules page will look like: It's pretty rudimentary, and may need some fleshing out, but I feel it accurately sizes down the rules while still giving the same message.
