December 30, 200718 yr Hey all, I'm not new to these forums, i've played runescape on and off since very early on, long before RS2 was released and i always used tip.it for as long as i can remember. As i've been away from Runescape for a long time (i couldnt play in halls at uni) i assume a lot has changed, especially in PKing. I hear the wild has changed and that there are different areas for different levels or something like that? I have a PKer which worked really well back when i used to play. It was F2P which it will stay and it was based on having 70 Str and getting the attack around about 50-55 and i decided upon getting 20 def which i know a lot of people dont agree with, but i could still hit virtually as high as any other pure. I also ended up getting prayer to 31 as well as getting my magic up so i could get magic resistance and also be able to quickly switch to using spells if someone i was attacking used the anti melee prayer and vice versa, it seemed to work a treat. The current stats are Combat: 65 Hitpoints: 62 Attack: 56 Strengeth: 70 Defense: 20 Prayer: 31 Magic: 53 Range: 1 I'm not sure of the level groups for the wild, but for the group im in, i obviously want to be quite high up in the levels so if the limit is 80, i'd at least want to be level 75+ so i have a fighting chance. My main focus is of course melee, but i like the option of switching to mage as sometimes its better against people with high def who are wearing armour or people who use the anti melee prayer. Any help/advice would be much appreciated and i can take critisism about my "pure" but try to keep it constructive ;) Regards. Boyddie
December 30, 200718 yr Wow man, I like you, you seem very down-to-earth =] Ok, tip time, first of all the wilderness has been removed because of real world trading and bounty hunter has taken ots place, nowone defence pures have been rendered useless ><, unless you're with a team, which I will get to later on. The combat level brackets are: 3-55, 56,(95 or105) then the final one is 105 + The tip for bounty hunter is that a team is essential, also make sure you can trust these people in your team, otherwise they might backstab you of they do not get the loot. In bounty hunter you will come across players/teams of one itemers, which all wield dds's, this is where you need your team and you want to concentrate on one person at a time to kill. It should be re-named to dds hunting, however you will get the odd team that will wear ancient robes and d,hide. Because bounty doesn't matter about combat level, to certain degree, many one defence pures got 45 defence, don't raise your defence level any higher than 20 as jagex Is releasing a new 1v1 mimigame in January, which will almost certainly be combat level related. If you wanted to raise some stats get 82 magic for ice blitz, 70 range for the chaps' magic defence bonus and when you train it you shall gain hit point levels. Get 52 prayer for smite, then if they run our of prayer pots they won't be able to protect any items. I hope I have helped you and informed you of the new wilderness mingiame and its good to see that after uni you came back lol, imagine the stick you'd get playing it there. - Gentle
December 30, 200718 yr Author Hey, thanks for the reply! Cant believe thy have taken out the wild, thats madness although im sure the new bounty hunter is equally as good. Its a shame that you need a team now though, i used to like going off into the wild on my own, i never really trusted people much as if you made a kill and they didnt get all the loot, they just got greedy and turned on you  Is bounty hunting mainly clan focused or is it possible to do solo? I guess i'll have to read up on it and have a quick go to figure it all out, im assuming everyone can attack everyone else? I think i'll certainly have to level up my ranged skill, i kind of neglected it up until now and the advice for the magic and prayer levels is much appreciated. So you think keeping the Def at 20 would be advisable for the new upcoming 1v1 mini game? I might just get my str to level 80 and bring my att up a little bit and see how high my combat level gets from there and then keep increasing them from there until i get about 90 combat level and then work on my magic, range and prayer levels, hopefully they wont bring it up much higher if at all. Any more advice from anyone would be useful too, good to get a number of peoples opinions
December 31, 200718 yr It is right that you nearly always need a team. of course, u can try to do solo, but you'll run all the time. since your in the middle class of bounty hunters (lvl 50, i think, to lvl 100), u can get your skillz up to a combat lvl 100 and be the highest of your class. I know this will take a while, but you could get something like this: atk 99 str 99 def 20 hp 99 ranged 70+ magic 70+ prayer 43 (for the protections) combat 99 since this will take a while, u should get your str up to 86 (hitting 18s without pot or prayer), and attack to 60 atleast. keep 31 prayer until you reach 99 strnegth, I guess. its up to you if u want 99 attack (you should atleast wait until we know more about more mini-games), but get 80 or 85 atleast, I think.
December 31, 200718 yr Author awsome reply, it sounds good to me. Without playing runescape for a while and not knowing what the current PK situation is like with pures its good to get some advice on whats best to aim for! Now i know what to aim for melee wise and mage/range wise as well, thanks for the help! Getting the Str and Att will be quite hard with such low defense, but ill just have to get lots of food, sure i'll figure something out in F2P, must be some easy way of leveling it. Any more advice would be welcome, but think i'll work on the strength first
January 1, 200818 yr there is another situation you need to think about, summoning. Summoning will effect your combat level, so non-combat skill for a bit and see if summoning really is worth lvling your combat lvl. Because in January there will be a new 1v1 wilderness mimigame aimed for pay to play, which is probably related to you combat lvl. And yeh, you can't solo in bh, everyone rogue hunts for the cash, just go with some in real friends, or some really trustworthy in game friends.
