sephiroth_king
Dirge "You Understand...Nothing." [hide=Aegian History]History is interesting (Sometimes)...But what of fictional history? This will be frequently updated to reveal secrets in the story, so it's like a side story...Enjoy. [hide=The Great War]1000-1010 AMB (Ante Magnus Bellum {Before Great War})--Aegis, the sacred land of the four blessed kingdoms of Sol, God of Aegis. War ravages the land. Kingdoms dishonored. Sol is insignificant in the lives of the Aegians. Corruption entered the souls of the blessed, and it drove the mighty to insanity. The fields that Sol had created for the people to dwell upon were obliterated--the souls of the dead lingered and produced a silent lament that wandered throughout the land of Aegis. This "Unholy" anomaly was ignored, and the ravaging continued. Each person slain created more sadness. Each soul rendered dead would each join into the lament. Still, the Aegians ignored the cry--despite it's volume becoming louder. Swiftly, each person upon Aegis quacked--the Kingdom Magnus, the center of all of Aegis, had fallen. Each Aegian roared to the heavens, a mighty roar that shook all of the land. Each man took up arms and marched. But the legendary Knights of Magnus were still alive. Every man that treaded the grounds of Magnus was slain by the warriors of Magnus, the strongest of all of the lands. These knights were not felled, and the men quickly retreated to the other three kingdoms--the Kingdom of Aeonia; the Kingdom of Kritiki; and the Kingdom of Antecorrenthi. The kings of the three kingdoms, The Kings of Darkness, Twilight, and Dawn marched their armies against Magnus. The ten year war of malice had ended, but the four Kingdoms clashed in the center of Aegis, Magna Genesis, in order to decide, in one decisive battle, who the true Aegians were. The Dead however, were displeased. 1010 MB (Magnus Bellum {The Great War})--The four Kingdoms clashed in their final decisive battle. Legions of knights clashed in a giant war, where there was no rest--just pure war and restlessness. Over the next three hundred days, the legions of people fell to each other, leaving the four Kingdoms with one legion each. The three kings declared one final assault into the Kingdom of Magnus and it's king, and have the true decisive battle within it. The restless people's body quacked, and those alive regretted ever beginning the war. The King's raised their swords and stopped, for the ground shook with an unbelievable force. Ever head looked to the South, and the Kings looked in awe. For in the distance, the fourth Kingdom was on its way--the Kingdom of Seid. Seid, being left untouched in the Farthest Reaches of the Kingdom, had the potential to build legions with ease. But there was no legion with them--no, instead two Knights walked towards the entire legions. The boom of laughter quacked the lands, and the legions banded to attack the two. Over the course of two days, every legion was destroyed by the two men, who were both unscathed after the battle. The two men, clad in platinum armor, challenged the Kings to a final battle, and declared protection to the Kingdom of Magnus. The first man tore his helm off, and roared in pain, falling to the ground--Sol made his call, and rendered everyone souls until the Kingly battle was won. Only the children of the world, who walked from the five kingdoms, stayed alive, mourning a deathly Dirge, breaking the silence. The Kings of Lux, Tenebris, Twilight, and Dawn fought--each of their kingdoms sparkled with their representations--the Dawn Kingdom sparkled a Golden Dawn. The Twilight Kingdom sparkled the Golden Twilight. The Lux Kingdom Sparkled the greatest light. The Dark Kingdom Sparkled with the essence of pure darkness. Twilight fell, the sparkling kingdom went dim. Dawn fell, the sparkling kingdom went dim. Darkness and Light remained, Aeonia and Seid. The three hundred and sixty-fourth day: Seid fell, and Lux went dim in the distance. Darkness, insane and corrupted, threatened a final assault onto Magnus--but Sol created a powerful light, killing the king of Darkness. Sol thus created an alternate land hidden in Twilight, where he put the accursed and damned, and stored corruption and pure darkness within it. He named this land "Bloodlust Hollows." Within Aegis, Sol made sure no evil could spread again, by countering evil with another evil force--Sol created a powerful Miasma, known as Miasmal, and spread it through the land. Those who dwelt within it were evil; those who dwelt in it were damned; those who dwelt in it were brave. The souls of the innocent were restored; the children, those who sang the Dirge, fainted and forgot the calamity. The people restarted their lives. One hundred years have passed since this destruction, and the evil Sol tried to contains has leaked out, in the year 100 LB (Lunebris).[/hide][/hide] [hide=Author News]None yet, guys. Sorry.[/hide] [hide=The Dirges Blaze]None yet, guys. Sorry.[/hide] [hide=The Oracles Corner] Here is where I show future quotes for the future story, and I'll leak 'em in slowly, so be sure to check back now and then. *SPOILER WARNING* "Weak. You are an insignificant person in this world. My friend, you withdraw your power instead of embracing it. You hold it within yourself as your greatest fear, your greatest anguish. And here you stand before us, your friends, that you are courageous? Your lie digs deep into my soul, like a ravenous dagger ready to tear my body apart and feed it to the dead. Now! Remember my words, and remember them well; Cowards die many times before their deaths; the valiant never taste of death but once. You are not valiant, only a scared lion cub hiding away in the deepest depths of a damp cave! I guess these are the only things you'll ever embrace in this life: the words I just told you just now, and your eternal cowardice. We fight, and you hide, you have forsaken us completely, as well as yourself! Remember my words; for you, my friend, are already dead." "What's this life for, my friend? To live? To carry a legacy? To end? To end...Sol only created us for a trial, a trial of God, that shows Sol we are worthy for his sacred grove and kingdom, rather than burning in the lonesome depths of the gaps of Triigaon, the Hells and the farthest reaches. Why do we live? One cannot know; I guess it truly is to carry on a legacy. And not believing in Sol, our God? The irony is, that atheists, the one's whom shun Sol for their own reasons, are the closest to him in the greatest sense, for Sol wants to bring them to the light, to give them a revelation that they are not alone, and yet belief to them is foolish. To us? It's blind love. I guess life is a trial. The verdict? We can believe in God, or shun him. We can shun him, and redeem ourselves. Either way, the verdict is quite clear: atheists shall be banished to traiigon, and we may enter the kingdom of the dawn. I just wish the atheists would see that they aren't forsaken. And they never will be, by Sol, or by us, the sinning people. I only hope they can see that, and to learn what this life is for when the two are combined. Just remember this, friend: Prepare for life's end, even if survival will be easy. For if we do not follow life to the end, then, in a sense, we shun Sol. But if we endure the suffering of life, endure the pain and anguish that Sol doesn't want us to endure, we shun him anyway. Why? That's the question we all want to know: How do we live this life?" "We cannot win! What's the use of our...Believing? What's the use? Listen to me, start retreating! All of you accursed azure soldiers stand here, your hearts separate and divided, and you still deny our loss! Why? Why? Why? Now come, let us not waste time, for if we waste it, then our souls will drown in triigon, for this is suicide! We will all perish! I care not of absolution, forgiveness, why seek any of it? Our sins shall stay within us until our untimely death! Our fears and lies will follow us forever, and will never perish in the cesspool of forgiveness! Your belief in Sol is pitiful, for what we have been through for this past day has already made us realize that he has forsaken us, and absolution will never come! Never! Give up hope! Give up foolishness! Or stay here and drown in blood, as your death shall be an unpleasant one; and if it be a pleasant death, the most pleasant in war, being instantaneous death, then I envy you; but may you find yourself in eternal damnation if you find this death! Burn in traiigon with Sol, as that is where he dwells now...That is where are hope is now... Hope you enjoyed! Have an adventurous day! :[/hide] Hoping to get a new Signature (with matching avatar) soon. :D In the meantime...Steam username: )I'll rewrite it later (add me if you want)

sephiroth_king
Chapter 1: Bloodlust A single man stood on top of a high cliff. His body was cloaked, a strange red cloak with a golden winged cross on it. His hood was removed; his dirty-blonde, straight here wavered in the calm winds that passed through the area. His eyes were the simple color of red, a bloodlust was the still and frightening look upon his face. Despite this, the strange emptiness and peace upon the high cliffs were he stood relaxed him; the battlefield he looked upon made his body tense. A single castle, shrouded with a strange black mist made him shiver, along with his heart pounding with great fear. For where he stood, people were simply slaughtered like lambs, brutalized and dehumanized to the fullest extent. Ever since the beginning of Aegis. The beginning of everything--the beginning of life. "E caa oui...Yfyed...Cusadrehk...I see you...Await...Something..." The man did not flinch, nor did he turn to see what the strange voice was that was talking to him, rather, he simply listened to it. The voice only laughed in the silent night with the cold reply. "Lusa, huf, cbayg! Come now, speak ! " "Silence." The man angrily said. "I await Dawn. I stand here to only watch." "Come now, Vincent, watch?" The man did not flinch, but this time looked at the figure that approached him; however, it was not only one, but five people whom approached him, each with the same robe he was wearing. "Yes, watch...And I intend not to join this battle. This is not for us to control, nor is it for us to enter it. We have no business doing so." Vincent coldly said, turning his head back to the shrouded castle. "You were always a wretched warrior of the night," said one of the men, "And lately you haven't been taking part in any slaughters that we partake in. Not since--" "Not since I had to slaughter a child!" Vincent said, his voice booming with an echo upon the cliff. "Not since the day my soul felt like it was crushed and sent to Hell. Not since the foul smell of rotten flesh of the people we killed was inhaled into my nostrils. Not since my heart was shattered that night." Vincent stepped closer to the men. "And never shall I ever kill a child, or man, or woman, that were helpless and unarmed, never again!" "Vincent," A feminine voice spoke out from the five, "you never had a problem with killing the helpless before. What's with this sudden change of heart? Why betray us? You know as well as the rest of us we can kill you in a fight. You always were the weakest." Vincent's eyes filled with rage. Instantly, he drew his sword and stabbed the girl, piercing her heart. With a yelp of pain, blood spurt from her mouth, as Vincent easily threw her off of the cliff to her death. He breathed heavily, licking the blood off of his sword, revealing his sharp fangs and true nature. The others stepped back. "What's the matter? Can't win?" Vincent threw his blade onto the ground, then crushed it with a simple step of his foot, the shards of steel flying everywhere. "Now it's just me and my fists. Let's not forget my fangs." The four men withdrew their blades, the same steel blades that Vincent held, along with a dagger in the other hand, holding the daggers butt first for quicker and more effective strikes. Vincent only smiled and held his hand out in his battle-ready position. With a quick move, the four disappeared into the darkness. Vincent laughed, and jumped, smashing one of the man, making them come out of invisibility; as he was pummeled into the ground, he threw a kick in back of him, but to no avail as it was parried by the invisible blade. Vincent flipped back, dodging every sword swing with ease, parring the blade with the heel of his foot when needed. After the tenth parry, the blade came out of it's hidden form as it hit the ground. Vincent quickly jumped onto it and smashed it, the sword breaking it thousands of pieces with ease. Finally, he jumped into the air and landed gracefully onto the ground next to the disarmed man, grabbed him by the head, and swiftly bit into his neck. The shroud of darkness dissapated, and the blood began to pour everywhere onto the ground. The man fell; white as a ghost and dead. Vincent quickly grabbed the dagger of the dead man by the blade and threw it into the man that had been pulverized into the ground a while before, piercing his neck perfectly and without faults, pinning him to the ground to his death. Vincent stood back into his battle pose, as the other two rendered their invisibility into the darkness of the oblivion. Each removed their hoods; the first man was completely scarred on his face, his brown, fear-filled eyes shacking in terror, his face scowling to reveal decrepit, rotted teeth. His red hair was still in the night wind. The other man was revealed to have black, crew-cut hair with golden, blonde streaks running down it. His deep, dark blue eyes pierced the night with a great sense of evil. The simple frown on his face and the scowl on the scarred man's face simply made Vincent silently chuckle under his breathe. "What's funny, Vincent?" The scarred man asked. "The fact that you are going to die?" "That scowl you are giving me...Wipe it off of your face. Or rather, allow me!" Vincent jumped at the man grabbing his neck and tore away at his neck, blood gushing everywhere. Vincent threw him onto the ground, drinking the rest of the blood that rested in his mouth. The dead man's face was full of shock, and was purely white. The blonde man scowled, holding the steel blade out towards Vincent's exposed neck. "Do you want to die a silent death here? Or would you like me to take you back to the kingdom where you can be slaughtered by the king?" "Neither. Because I'm not the one whom will die!" Vincent swiftly punched the sword out of the grip of the man, throwing his fist into him, pulverizing him into the cold ground. The man's back only slid and tore apart the ground for a few seconds, but flipped and regained footing. With a swift sprint, he grabbed the sword from the ground and stabbed Vincent. Vincent grabbed the blade that pierced hi stomach. His breathe became colder, and his eyes became deathlike. Slowly his heart failed, and slid down to the hilt of the blade. His breathing stopped. The man felt a slight relief inside of him, but he felt a strange...Pain. His eyes began to fall to droop up, and he began to violently shake. "So munt! So munt! Ramb sa! Ramb sa! My lord! My lord! Help me! Help me!" Slowly, he became numb, and he shook violently still. "Fro ryja oui vuncygah sa? Fro? Why have you forsaken me? Why?" The man shook stil, trying to release himself from deaths clutches. "Fro? Fro...Why? Why..." Slowly, his shaking stopped, and died, falling to the ground with an echoing thud. Vincent wiped the blood off of his face, then removed the sword from his stomach. He smiled. "Idiot. You should no vampires don't die...That is, if you don't tear our heart out..." Dawn finally was coming. Vincent had not noticed! He quickly ran to the ledge, and gasped in horror. The legions of men where already slaughtered, and thousands of the red cloaked men began to walk back. This fight was a diversion. As dawn slowly came, the castle released a strange, black smog into the sky to stop the sunlight. Vincent scowled, as he began to walk away from this deathly scene. As he walked away, he could smell the burning flesh of the murdered people. sephiroth_king
Chapter 2: Silence Silence. A single man rode his steed through a dark and deathly forest. He wore purple armor, gold trim and gold writing on it, a hood instead of a helm. A sword, of the looks of a claymore, rested on his back. The armor was light, yet strong, allowing horseback. The sky was lit twilight, and a strong tint of gold; however, the light did not shine into the dark forest, for the trees would reflect the light away. The trees also concealed what ever human needs: sound. Without sound, he cannot hear his surroundings, allowing for assassins and thieves to dwell in this dark place. For within the forest of Rycth, no man was safe from death. The silence did not bother the warrior. No assassin would have the courage, let alone the strength, to take him on. Nor would a thief...No extra precautions taken, he slowed his horse down even further, making a slow trod through a dimly lit pass. Ahead, he could see light, and nothing more. Relief flowing through him, he stroked the horses neck and smiled. A bird chirped, making him jump slightly. The first sound he heard for a long time. He knew what the light was ahead; it was either elves, whose light was pure enough to pulverize silence and recreate sound, or it was the first gate of Rycth, one of the several exits that eliminates one of the sinister features of the forest, which are silence, fear and sleeplessness. "You there," yelled he towards the figures, "halt, please!" The figures seemed to not hear him, and pressed forward. "Run like the wind, press forward like lightning, Lux, so I may catch up to these beings!" Giving Lux a tug on his reigns, he burst forward with incredible speed. He observed his surroundings, catching a glimpse of light within the hollows around him. Are they...All around me? He tugged Lux's reigns again, slowing him down. He jumped off of his steed, then tore his sword from it's sheathe, sparks roughly bouncing from it onto the ground. He slowly held his sword upright, gripping it's handle with both hands. The light he had seen was gone, but the light ahead was still there. Ren...Ren... He shifted around, swiftly spinning to observe his surroundings thoroughly, yet he could only hear the noise in the wind. His name... He quickly jumped onto Lux, then nudged him to the unimaginable speed, nearly rendering them invisible. The path he was on seemed not to end, but the light ahead got stronger. Faster and faster they went, Lux's hooves made no sound because of the speed they were in. Ren quickly raised his blade, as the light was coming closer at an unbelievable rate of speed... "Lnmryozhg!" Suddenly, an eruption of red light smashed into Ren, pulverizing him into the ground. Lux merely slid ten feet and fell, knocked out cold. Ren slowly rose. The figure was still a great distance away, building the power of the blast again. Ren jumped into a tree, jumping from branch to branch. "Lnmryozhg!" The blast met the tree, which erupted into pure flame, but Ren dodged it. He tore off his hood, throwing the fabric away. His blonde, neck length hair stood still, but his eyes could not, as they darted from side to side, looking for his opponent. One glowed of gold, the other glowed of red, but suddenly returned to a normal blue when he surveyed his surroundings again. "Yozxpuriv!" Ren jumped from a branch he located, dodging the spell with ease. Black flames engulfed the tree he rested on. Below, the instigator of this battle was visible. He jumped to another tree, withdrew his blade, and held out a fist towards thew burning tree. In a split second, the flames wore off. He jumped out of the tree, again taking out his blade. His enemy already had his out, a thin sword in a length of several feet. Ren...Ren... There's the noise again... Ren thought. "Surround him." The command was given in a cold and deathly tone, but he was immediatly surrounded by others, gathering by the hundreds. This time, he could hear the noise again, in the strength of hundreds of these beings... "Stop!" He clenched his head in pain. "No, no, NO!" He fell to his knees, dropping his sword. He gripped it harder and harder, as if he had a madly developing migraine... "STOP!" He grabbed his blade and, with a single slash, wiped out half of the group, whose bodies melted away in the wind. Still he heard the noise, and his life felt like it was being taken from him. He saw the light, eminating from the beings, and began to hack away at them, strong slashes and extremely fast. Thus, the noise disappeared. "Your power extends from here to all of the land..." Ren dropped his sword, and his arm began to shake violently. His fell, as his legs were weak; he could feel the coldness of his first opponents blade on his bare neck. "But you understand nothing of this power. Therefore, deliverence to Hell is necessary...Is it not?" He could feel the blade leaves his neck. "Lux!" Ren yelled to his horse, who rammed his enemy into several trees, tearing them down instantly. Ren then took out a second sword and shield, resting them on Lux's saddle. "Lux, find the exit and await me there. Await me there." He pointed the way out, and like a rocket, Lux took off, lightning speed. Thus Ren walked towards the wreckage. His enemy had not arisen, nor did he make an attempt to stop his horse. He took no extra precaution, as he walked towards the wreckage with his weapon by his side. Within the wreckage, the trees were not the only thing that had fallen; a crater was also within it. Yet, no man was within it, only a light, which went out. And the light extinguished, revealing a young woman of seventeen; she had many injuries, however her chain armor protected her chest. She held only a staff. The noise disappeared...Silence reigns again...This young woman... Ren ran to her aid, throwing aside his sword. Lux, Thought Ren, I was attacked by the Noiiz, and they possessed a girl in order to attack me...Return here, swiftly. He picked her up, and his arms shook with weakness; he then walked towards his sword and returned it to it's sheathe. Ren...Ren... The Noiiz continue to taunt me... With a neigh, Lux slid, throwing up dirt with the sudden stop. Quickly, Ren jumped on the horse, giving him a commanding jesture to leave the forest. _____________________________________________________________ Is man...Truly strong? Or insignificant part of the world, fearing the dark? Why do children fear the dark? Why do we not love anymore, instead rage with one another and hate? War? No man truly knows why, and we do not disobey our human nature...It's our nature to war, to hate...To love. We cannot stop these emotions, it happens. But there are some beings, those who give up their emotions, their fear and doubt...But they reach their downfall in time...Man wins, or what we imply as "Light," and we slay these foul beings...But man is not light. If we were, we wouldn't rage in war, or hate. These contradictions are always shunned ...Man refuses to listen. We are not truly strong. We are insignificant to our higher beings, those who created us. And we should thank them every day for our power, for everything. Man is truly a conundrum... Ren believed, that this statement, which ran through his mind day by day, was true...Man is darkness. But some light glimmers, a shining hope, someone that could light the darkness and return light... Whom shall I send? _____________________________________________________________ "Whom shall I send..." A dark voice replied, wrapped and concealed within a ominous black and purple light. The darkness around the light was strong, and it spread throughout the dark castle. A blood red moon revealed itself in the sky, tinting the darkness into a more sinister color. "The boy understands nothing, let alone remembers anything...His past has been obliterated, sent into oblivion by his own cruel wishes to forget...Thus, to moderate him, we must send what he banished, what he expelled from himself...And crush his soul into nothingness..." "The one you speak obeys no one...He cannot be manipulated, nor does he choose to help...He does his own bidding...However, Reviel, it is you who I shall send...Force Ren into submission by attacking with the Noiiz...And bring him here." "Yes, mylord..." Reviel let out a sinister laughed, and the darkness devoured him, teleporting him elsewhere. sephiroth_king
Chapter 3: Light Darkess. The enmity that cloaks light, consuming every last nook and cranny of visibility, destroying sight completely. Fear. The aspect of being afraid blends with darkness, both cooperating together with great power. Death. With the other two, this power ends life in the shroud of blindness, thus...Those whom fear the dark, who strive to be unafraid, fear death; thus, every man fears dark. No man can gallantly stand in darkness and say they adore it completely; for if they did, they are and open target to death. Thus fear is produced; yet fear causes death as well. With this system of power, darkness, fear and death work their power as so. This dark perfection, the fear causes end. The dark imperfection, where we die if we attempt to be unafraid. So the solution? The destiny of all is to strive for death. To end. Yet man have found ways to stop this system, given to them by Sol. A child in the night. His fear, his rejection towards darkness runs through his veins, his heart pumping wildly. No one knows what dwells in the night, the shrouds of darkness can end life in a flash. His thoughts, his horrid and gory thoughts, shroud him with lies...Maybe an undead spirit, or simply a monster, will scoop him up and devour him. With this fear, he believes, and he cannot sleep at night. Thus sleepless nights come along, and eventually the child can take it no longer, and, without thought, kills himself. Suicide. Death. He dies, sacrifices his soul, almost selling it to the devil, by quick death. No more pain. No more fear. But death. And this is what darkness strives for in the child's mind. Light. With it, the illumination, the relief...The child cannot fear darkness, simply because nothing can get him, as undead or monsters are afraid of the darkness. So goes the child to sleep; he drifts off into a deep sleep, thinking light will protect him...Leading to his doom. The light betrays the child; the flame, with it's great power, joins the ranks of darkness, as the hot wax on the candle, inflamed, falls onto the ground, burning the child into the depths of oblivion. Oblivion. The final part of the system that the system of death strives for; the soul will end, and fall into oblivion, the twilit hell of Veregnagal...Or the Oblivion of light, the Kingdom of Dawn, or so people have called it. All of this philosophy, this tale, this legend--Ren knew well, and thought of it quite often. He walks in darkness, seeking end--his Exodus, Unedain. Darkness ruled the lands when Ren exited the forest. This girl...I feel as if I know her...It's almost as if I...No, no... Ren negated his thoughts, and halted Lux. He could see the kingdom to the North, a kingdom that inhabited the Westernmost part of the land. This kingdom was one of the four that kept balance in Aegis, the name of the land itself. The kingdom of Exodus is where the inhabitance of Unedain, the kingdom Exodus's town, inhabit. Every path in the land always leads to Unedain, and because of being the closest to the edge of Aegis, the name Exodus was given to the kingdom, for the ocean is an exit from Aegis, and every path in Aegis goes to Exodus, creating infinite paths and exits. The sword and shield Ren carried with him were to be given to the king of Exodus, a Maester named Xan-Viz. The sword and shield were simple looking weapons, merely a round Spartan shield and a short Sickle blade, but both forged with Cerberus designs on them. With the shield and sword Ren also carried a Cerberus dagger and a golden symbol, also bearing the Cerberus in it's engraving. The Cerberus was a sign of Kingdom Exodus, a symbol of deliverance, power, and the sign of a warrior. Ren jumped off of Lux's saddle, leaving the horse to it's rest, and placed the girl on the ground. "Emmisehyda." Ren snapped his finger, and the area around him, stretching ten yards from his position, illuminated. This allowed time to grab kindle and rocks from his pack, where he surrounded a spot with rocks, and throwing the kindle within the stone circle. "Vena." Ren tapped the kindle, and flames burst from the kindle. Lastly, Ren snapped his fingers in the air, whispering: "Tynghacc," and thus darkness ruled the area again. The girl laid on the ground, unscathed from the past events. This was strange to Ren; when he found her, she was slashed and cut from the pulverizing Lux did to her. He thought the power of Lux would kill her, if not break every bone within her body, or even cause disabling. But she rested easy. Something isn't right... Ren entered the confines of his mind, but began clawing away from it, slowly, his soul broke away from his body, and clawed through her mind, searching for her own state of being. And thus Ren's humanly body fell to the ground, and the fire extinguished, the smoke rising in the darkness. _____________________________________________________________ Ren dwelt within pure light, the brightest light. The strength and immensity of the light was beyond his own, but it instantly dissipated, and he stood in-between a field. But sorrow as the only thing he met. Mercy was shown to no man, as the legions of armies littered the ground. Men. Women. A dispicable sight to see...A lifeless, heartless beings. And so Ren turned away. Behind him, there was darkness. No death, nor was there light. Both sides disturbed him greatly. No light to illuminate his way, thus he must suffer? But he would suffer worse walking in the path of the dead... Look beyond death, and you will see light... Ren backed up, in fear of the loud but gentle voice he heard. "Hello?" Look beyond darkness and see trust... "What do you mean? I do not understand..." Trust not your eyes...But trust your heart. Your eyes deceive you, they blind you to the truth. "My eyes do not deceive, for I see dead in one path and darkness in the other..." But that is with your heart...Ultimately, your eyes show you two paths...But with your heart...The truth will set you free... "But which path shall I choose..." They both lead to the same thing...Close your eyes and be still. Ren reluctantly closed his eyes, seeing nothing. What do you see? "Nothing...Wait..." Ren's heart began to race, and his fists clenched, sweat coming down his face...It seemed as if he was entering a new world. Slowly, the darkness he had seen when he closed his eyes faded away, and he saw light, the same pure light...But he did not close his eyes. He opened his arms, as it felt like he was soaring through the sky. He smiled. Slowly, he felt as though his feet met the grounds surface, and he opened his eyes. He stood in neither the darkness or the fields of the dead. He stood now in a graveyard, where the dead were, and where the darkness was, a golden sun. But he saw something more than the sun; in the sky, stars were with the sun. Ren hadn't seen a sight like this in his lifetime; but he could not help but stare at the sky where sparkling array of stars danced in the sky. He looked at the constellations, but could not figure out what they formed. You entered my mind in order to find me, and bring me back? "I did." Said Ren to the voice. This...What you see now is Aegis was when it was in it's golden age...Ren Ren was surprised. "You know my name...Do you know who I am?" The voice giggled, and softly said: The question should not be directed to me... "But to you." Ren quickly looked to his side. The voice had ended, but the girl stood next to him, a with simple grin upon her. "You say I should ask myself that?" Ren asked, dumbfounded. "Yes." The girl stepped closer to him, putting a hand on his shoulder. "We must leave now. Worry of none of this, for what you seek shall be answered soon enough..." She faded away. Ren stood in a dark void, and he could feel his soul being returned to his physical being. _____________________________________________________________ Ren opened his eyes, to see morning had already broke. But his eyes did not flinch, they stood open, for the light had not affected him. sephiroth_king
Chapter 4: Lotus What did this girl mean...Why do I feel like I know that vision? Ren thought of what he had seen. The sky. The peace. The happiness he felt...However, his thoughts were negated. He beckoned Lux over, wrapped the girl in a blanket to keep her warm on the trip. "You ready?" Lux scratched her hoof on the ground, and Ren tugged her reigns forward. Like Ren wanted her to, she ran slow. Unedain was in the distance, and the most visible part of the entire scenario was the castle, standing strong and mighty. _____________________________________________________________ Death. Humankind fears it. We fear the thought of dying. We fear the thought of going to a place of eternal bliss or eternal darkness. We fear the thought of joining those who are dead. No, these are what we fear...But we truly fear the essence of death itself...Those who are dead. Those who were engulfed by darkness, who's soul left their bodies. Warriors seldom fear death. They were raised to think death is the ultimate honor. Their names would be carved into history by their own spilled blood...Inside, they tell themselves they haven't a fear of darkness. But they do. Yes...Inside their hearts, which they were told to ignore, which they were told they have no emotions. They were told this so they can leave another behind if he is groaning in pain...And cannot make it. They were told this to negate any thoughts of sorrow when they had slain a man. But these emotions that became null and void within them remain there. When they die, the honor they had thought they would receive...It doesn't matter to them. They have to face those who they ignored when they suffered...Those they raped, those they ignored when cries of help eminated from the darkest reaches of hopelessness. They regret their lives. And no warrior, let alone any man, should endure that pain. Children are different. They are happy, optomistic, they are the light of the world. They fear darkness, but...They don't know what death is. They ask their mothers, yet not even a grown adult, who knows what death is, can describe what it's like. What happens. So she tells him nothing, and leaves him to rest. Many people a scared of death, to the point where the essence of Veregnagal has tampered with their minds. They knows what death is, and they're afraid...Not even his light can help them. This is who the Noiiz are born. They consume any man's soul, and take over. They await the moment where doubt is within them, where darkness is within them, where Veregnagal can enter the mind and tear it to shreds...They are weak. This is why soldiers are taught not to fear death or darkness...So they cannot be tampered with. But without emotions, how can one live? The answer is clear, and it is what every man has, which cannot be taken from them: Hope. When a child has hope, does he allow a demon to enter his soul and tamper with it? No. When a man in war sees dead, at every side of his afflicted and bruised body, does he not have hope? When a person is fighting to stay alive, when they are at the brink of death...Do they succum to the devils of darkness? When a person surrenders and allows themselves to become a Noiiz, are they weakened? Yes...When you lose hope, you damn your soul to the shadows of infinite within the deathly darkness of hell. Children are the light...Because no matter what you tell them, they will forget, and their hearts are stronger than any of ours. They fear dark, but they fall asleep and forget...They may fear death, but they forget...The light protects them, and eliminates the essence of evil. Children cannot be taken over by evil. But death seeks not those who are young or old... It seeks those who have fear and doubt...And therefore, it seeks anything weak. Anything. And the balance...The warriors who fight. The people, who fear. The children of light...The balance continues. _____________________________________________________________ The blood stained ground stank with the essence of pure evil. Corpses rested amongst the dirt ground, and the architecture around the area was obliterated and reduced to ash. Bloody knives and swords stuck out of the ground, some stabbed into bodies of soldiers, some into children and woman. Flames scourged the surrounding area, blackening the rubble of everything that was destroyed. The black smoke eminating from the fires smogged the heavens. A heavy mist engulfed the outside of the destroyed town. Only one figure moved amongst the death. His neck length silver hair was stained with blood. His chainmail was scarred, cracked down the middle, and stained with blood, and his platelegs were cracked as well. He cracked the neck of a nearby body, tearing it off from the corpse, and laughed. Blood poured from the severed head, and within his grasp, crushed the head completely. He threw the mutilated head on the ground, and wiped the blood on his sword. He gave a slight smirk to the destruction he singlehandedly caused, proud of what he had caused with the swing of his broadsword, which was shaped like a demon wing. He stepped closer to the dead of children, and a field of swords that he had smashed into the ground, cracking the earth with a simple flick of his wrist. Simply marvelous, thought he. The fool is lost within a conundrum that he himself has heard before...But cannot remember. He angers over what he forgot, dwelling within the confines of his own blasted mind...Yet, I feel a bit of hope inside of his heart...But even that hope cannot withstand against what he has lost. Poor fool. Within the smog, the man lifted his arm, and a raven landed on it; he stroked it's back, and pointed towards the East. Understanding what he commanded, the raven flew off; he then beakoned crows to ravage the meat off of the dead bodies, simply by raising his hand again. He pulled his sword out of the ground, thus tearing the stone from the ground. However, he did not withdraw the blade, for he felt a strong force stalking him. Watching his movement. Lotus...Lotus... "What calls my name? Is it an accursed Noiiz? Chasing me defeats the soul purpose of your birth from darkness, because you'll just be slain and sent into oblivion...Why do you chase me, damned beings, and why would you want me to be cast into submission? I shall not do your masters bidding..." Lotus glanced swiftly to his left and skillfully swung his blade, slashing a Noiiz into oblivion. He jumped, and swung his blade rapidly around him, defeating hundreds more around him. He then landed, making no scars nor smashing the ground beneath his feet; around him, however, the ground smashed up, killing thrice more Noiiz. "Filthy creatures. Be cast into shadow. I dispise you, and you despise me; I listen only to myself, and you choose to listen to a higher being. But why? Is it because you haven't a soul? Or is it because you have no purpose in life?" Lotus swung his blade in front of him, killing another. "Unlike your superiors, I see you are empty shelled. Quite sad, how you are born...Quite sad, how I send you now to eternal damnation...But I am fed up with fighting any of you; I choose to fight your commander. Reveal yourself, filthy Curiji!" Lotus jumped into the air, twirling in a barrel roll, and smashed the hilt of his massive blade into nothing; but nothing revealed a man, who hit and smashed the ground around him. The Curiji on the ground got up, and spat blood from his cloaked face; he lifted from his side a flail, and began to swing it over his head. Lotus shrugged and chuckled. "Useless." Lotus's enemy flung the flail's deadly [bleep]es at him, but he merely stood in his spot. When the [bleep]ed flail was within two inches of his face, he swiftly caught it, and with great force threw it back into the Curiji, who fell immediately. Lotus walked towards the body of the Curiji, and lifting his hand, forced the body to float upward, strangling the Curiji by tightening his grip. The flail had struck through his body, which created a big gaping hole and blood gushed out, like how a fountain spurts out water. The Curiji was holding up the chain of the flail, trying to prevent it from falling. Lotus arrived face to face with the man, who's breath quaked and was raspy with every breath he took. Lotus was satisfied; he smiled, and declared: "Miasmal infects Aegis with the greatest power of darkness. It is the most powerful Miasma, and your master has made my power increase by tenfold strength. He's a fool. And, for coming after me, he has lost nearly an entire legion of these foul beasts. Therefore, I pity him; I shall spare you, but give him this message: his power is useless against mine. I will destroy his entire legion if I must. With every pursuit after me he makes, his armies will be destroyed. I seek my own revelation, and I cooperate for no one." Lotus dropped the Curiji onto the ground, giving the injured and scarred body a scolding look. "Remember these words: The hunt has begun." Lotus vanished, leaving the obliterated city behind him. sephiroth_king
Chapter 5: A Council with the King "You found the girl amongst the attack of the Noiiz?" Ren kneeled at the throne of the King of Unedain, King and Maester of the nation Xan-Viz. "She was a Noiiz. They somehow manifested their own negative thought into the girl, and she must have been easily possessed..." Possessed...Possessed... Ren arose, rubbing his head with one hand; an echo enveloped his inner thoughts. It was as if he...Heard this before. "Well?" King Xan-Viz questioned in an angered tone. However, Ren kept thinking of what he was hearing. Possessed...Demonic wings...Remember these words: The hunt has begun! He finally shook his thoughts from the inner depths of his thoughts, yet the remnants from the back of his mind echoed still. Ignoring them, he continued: "I felt a strong presence, and that was her. To be weak causes possession of your total body, and also causes pure control over mind and soul, never mind the heart..." Hearts negation...Mind and body, souls damnation... Ren began rubbing his head again, this time throwing the thoughts out. "Noiiz," King Xan-Viz arose from his throne, walking until he was face to face with Ren, "Noiiz are the horrid physical, mental, and spiritual negative energy released by a driven soul, whom only seeks revenge or any other entity within this cold and harsh life. When the soul is finally driven mad by their own evil, Noiiz is released, and the soul is destroyed, leaving the body, or the empty shell, behind. But the body becomes something...Yes, the body is manifested into pure darkness, and is manipulated by a dark master until it can think, breathe, and live on it's own...Despite this, they are still emotionless. And these empty shells are called...Curiji." Beware the Curiji, foul and deadly, who sing a powerful, deathly medley... Ren listened now to these foul premonitions that dwelt in his mind, and listened of Xan-Viz, for he could no shake the premonitions off. Xan-Viz therefore continued: "There are many Curiji...But there is only one thing in the world that is even more powerful that a Curiji..." Sin...Beware your ultimate sin! It shall haunt you and your kin! Be silent, premonitions! Be still! I cannot bear this any longer. Rest, I charge you, and you may haunt me later with the darkest of thought, and fill my mind with the worst of worst evils! "Sin." He had heard Xan-Viz, but Ren heard the voice of a sinister being boom through his mind, making him fall to his knees: As you wish! Thrice to thrice, from thrice to tenfold we curse you, your mind shall not suffice! Obliterated shall you become, and you shall burn with the rest of this earths scum! "Ren?" Xan-Viz helped him up, along with a couple of the guards around him. "Ren? Are you okay--" "Be silent!" Ren shook the guards and the king off, clutching his head in a burning pain. "I...I...It is silent. My mind is...Silent. I cannot hear those foul beings...The fearsome voices that harassed my inner sanctum of thought...The premonitions of evil have drained out, being obliterated into the darkness..." Ren turned to the king, allowing his hands to droop. "Mylord...I must part from your presence at once. I came to this city for two things; to deliver those offerings...And to search for something I feel as though I lost. But I do not know what is lost; allow me to part from your presence, I shall bother you no longer..." Xan-Viz bowed his head and smiled. "You bothered me not; now go. The girl shall be watched over, and we'll guard her with our lives. Now depart, the air is still still, and it is fresh; the sun shines upon the kingdom of Unedain, and you must take all advantages." Ren knelt before the king, bowed his head before the guards, and departed from the throne room. ******************** A dark enveloped over the sinister realm, and a dark voice spoke to the Curiji, and to the Noiiz as well. "His memory is returning to him. He is progressing faster than I thought. Reviel is there, but now that the boy has met the girl...He will have a hard time drawing the boy to us. Therefore, I call you; Sindrolig, Cell, Jigen. Assist Reviel, and go after the boy. You know the rest of the plan." "Yes, mylord..." All three said together, thus darkness wrapped around them and they disappeared. "Lotus comes here, for he senses something arriving on the horizon...He does not know what, but I certainly do. An ex-Demon Curiji awaits the future. He has already killed four of the other Demonic Curiji...He can think for himself now. He is now the third exile. Vincent..." The dark lord frowned, then snapped his fingers, creating a strange light that showed the image of Sindrolig. "You made it successfully," the dark lord smiled, "but there is a change in the original plans. Bring the boy to me, rather than slay him. And the girl, as well." "Understood, Mylord." The image of Sindrolig instantly faded. The dark lord laughed sinisterly, and the silence of the darkness was shattered; he knew what was coming, and it was coming swiftly. sephiroth_king
Chapter 6: Sol's Sanctum Day had already passed, faster than an arrow is launched from it's wielders bow. The red sky in the distance reflected with the light of the sun, making the horizon a welcoming golden color, which obliterated any doubt or any sinful crimes. The sky of the Golden Twilight, the greatest force of any light that was created by Sol for the sole purpose of stopping evil. People often watched the skies of the Golden Twilight, like watching a newborn baby, or looking at a grand statue just created for the citizens viewing pleasure. As the people watched the skies, Ren knew it was the perfect time to walk through the city; the crowds would be dead, people would be mezmorized by the light and would not look at the moving figure of Ren, and he would reach his destination by the time the people awakened from their deep trances. Ren looked at the light; his thought of it was beautiful, but it wasn't enough to force him into a grand trance. He often thought of the same light he had seen may times before; maybe it doesn't appeal to him anymore, maybe he has no need for adoring the light. No, though Ren, I remember this light from the vision I had...With the girl...No, that light was tenfold the strength of this. The light of a platinum color, a grander light than that of the crime eliminating light that is the Golden Twilight...Yet, a sadness overcomes me when I look upon this light, rather than it fill me with wonder as it does these people...Maybe the light I saw filled me with an even greater desire to annhillate evils...To show the world what light is. And yet, I do not know what this light is. He looked upon the Golden Twilit sky, but turned away, completely ignoring it's utter existence. Miasmal's power has cloaked what true light is. It possesses everything, only the cities are protected from that strong Miasma. Maybe that Golden Twilight is being cloaked...Revealing our utter ignorance to what that true light is. For many years this Miasmal has overshadowed us...And we cannot hope to stop it. Ren looked before him. His body was instantaneously filled with a rush of adrenalin, for before him stood a temple constructed of pure gold; within it was what he was trying to reach. Spirits high with excitement, Ren walked up the stairs to the doors of the temple. The golden rays of the twilight gave the golden temple an astounding gleam and luster, reflecting both beauty and power. Not a person dwelt within the temple at the moment; however, Ren's intention was to dwell deeper into the temple, which extended into a single mountain: Blastual Blaazi. Ren was attracted to this sight when he received the assignment to come and deliver the offerings, as he thought something would allow memory to reawaken within him. He could feel something was missing. Perhaps then, Sol's Sanctum...Perhaps you can allow memory to be reawakened within me... Ren walked over to a stone door, a boulder that blocked entry further in. Grasping both ends, he pulled it away in a matter of seconds; ahead lay nothing but darkness. Cold sweat developed on his forehead; but this darkness was not the cause. Or was it? Staring into the darkness, Ren collapsed, and the boulder behind him instantaneously closed. His body shook, and he grasped his head. Nothing could save him. Nothing could comfort him. Nothing. __________________________________ "Could it be?" "What do you see?" "Twilight. But this is a different twilight..." Two men sat together, looking day dreamingly into the golden sky, and the city below. Surrounding the city were beautiful mountains, each standing proud and tall, some taller then others; the mountain the two men sat upon was the tallest amongst the rest. The wind did not blow, nor were there any sounds but their own voices that echoed upon talking. The two sat in a grand, golden library, upon the peak of the mountain they dwelt upon. "Tell me," said the first man, wearing steel armor, "have you ever felt a strange sadness when dusk comes upon our world? Or, have you felt sadness when the morning comes, clearing the sublimity of the darkness? Either way...In between both, there is twilight..." "Our world was blessed by Sol with the golden twilight," the second man resumed, "it symbolizes Sol's love towards us. It mezmorizes those who believe--and those who do not believe may still fall in a deep trance when looking upon the beauty of it all...It is those with divinity that cannot be possessed by it..." The first man smiled. "Tell me Ren...What is it that keeps you strong?" Ren grinned at this question, even shrugged. "Those who keep on fighting...I fight for those who keep pushing, day after day, to find the truth...I fight for those who's brave and pure hearts fight and protect each other...I fight for those who hate me, and I fight for my friends and loved ones...In turn, with these three combined, I am strong. So I guess I'm strong...For those who never give up..." The man smiled, and chuckled at Ren's answer. "Your answer is a noble one..." "I learned from those whom have taught me...Grandfather." The two looked into the distance together, admiring the Golden Twilight that was setting. Ren drew his sword and enthusiastically jumped up. "Let us spar!" Ren's grandfather arose as well, but scolded him. "This mountaintop is sacred! Fighting here is forbidden, and those who fight here...Nevermind. I think it is time for us to descend." "But what of the book we were sent to obtain in this library?" Ren pointed at a staircase, that went further up the mountain, where a sacred dome rested. "While you were mezmorized by that twilight," Ren's grandfather pulled a golden book from his pocket, "I stole away and got this book." Ren laughed in amusement. "Then I guess I shan't see the library anytime soon..." His grandfather aid his hands on Ren's shoulders, and grinned. "You are full of youth. You have plenty of time to come up here--" His grandfather stopped, frozen in time. Ren backed away, he could feel his body shake. His grandfather melted away, and instantly erupted into millions of fragments--like glass. Ren's head began to pound, and he collapsed. He opened his eyes flashed memories in a negative colored tone. "Ren, run!" His grandfather pushed him, as he was stabbed through the heart by a knight with a mighty blade. "No!" More memories flashed--Ren now held a bloody dagger with the knights severed head. In black and white, he pictured taking the helmet off and seeing the assassin: himself... The face of the severed head changed..It was no longer Ren. The head dissapated. He then instantly felt a stab through his ribs, and was thrown through the air by a powerful force. He saw the figure: a man with white hair and a giant claymore...He looked like Ren! The figure walked away; Ren arose and ran towards his grandfather, but instant darkness appeared; in his head, he felt rushes of pain and memories, and he fell. ________________________ Ren forced his eyes open, and tore a dagger out hidden in his boot. He breathed heavily, and sweat drenched his forehead and body. But he was no longer in the cave; no, the moon above revealed a pure moonlight that set it's light upon the spot he was on. He instantly withdrew the dagger and jumped up, for he knew he wasn't the only one here! "Show yourself!" Ren drew his blade roughly, sparks flying from his sheathe. Ren knew this sight; he and his grandfather looked from this edge. He turned towards the staircase, and saw the library. He was already at his destination...But who brought him here? _________________________ Ren quickly ran into the library. Inside it was brightly lit; his first reaction was to be awe stricken. The five story high cylinder library was filled with books, each upon a golden shelf. He sought out one book, a golden book with golden pages, the front inscribed with the Ancient language. The same book his grandfather held... "You are a heavy sleeper..." Ren turned to a cloaked man, who held the golden book. "Give me the book, damned soul..." "How amusing. Take it." He threw the book at Ren hard, but Ren caught in nevertheless. "I'll take it back when I kill you..." The cloaked man drew a katana blade. Ren slowly walked back, steadily holding the book. Quickly, he flipped back and released a strange light flashed, leaving the man blind for a few seconds. __________________________ Ren ran as fast as he could. The moonlight was blocked by a cloud; darkness reigned, and he could not see a thing. Cowards die many times before their deaths...The valiant never taste of death but once...Don't fear the dark, Ren...Fear nothing...And your heart will soar..." Ren felt a coldness on his neck. He knew it was the man with the katana blade, ready to cut his neck open and savor the taste of his blood... "Give me the book..." Ren lifted his left leg back and brought it down...He felt no solid ground. He was at the edge... The valiant never taste of death but once... Ren ginned. "My grandfather said fighting on this mountain was forbidden...I believe him...Therefore...Upon Sol's Sanctum we will not fight!" Ren jumped backwards, securing the within his sword sheathe after drawing his sword. The moon came out of the clouds; the platinum light illuminated the darkness. Ren readied himself to battle the pursuing man, who's hood blew off of his head, stabbed his sword into the side of the stone mountain, slowing him down; sparks flew everywhere, and he then pushed off of the side, jumping towards him with great speed. Ren swung his sword in a chain of horizontal slashes, clashing blades with the man, each strike sending the man up. Ren spun, providing extra power and clashing the man away. The man did not give up easily; in a variety of slashes, he hacked away at Ren, who parried each blow with ease. The man struck hard, knocking Ren into the building; however Ren smashed into the mountain with his feet, but did not damage it at all; swiftly, he ran downward, dragging his sword along the edge. He jumped, and a final spark ignited, creating a blue flame, which Ren swiftly struck the man with. Ren then attacked with an array of attacks like the man, slashing the man each time successfully, blood trickling from him cloak. Ren finally threw a stab, successfully stabbing the man through the stomach. A loud, gut wrenching scream eminated from the man; who continued to fall. Ren stabbed his sword into the mountain, halting movement. "It's..." "Yozav!" Ren, wide eyed, tore his sword from the wall and pushed, to no avail; a giant blue blaze struck him, throwing him into paralysis temporarily. Ren embraced every attack, his body being slashed swiftly from the katana. Out of paralysis, Ren parried three horizontal blows consecutively, then pummeled the mans face hard. Ren swung his blade, hitting it with the man's, creating blue sparks; the man then sent Ren into a barrel roll, which Ren used as an advantage, kicking the man quickly and releasing one final blow, speedily sending him down towards the forest below. Ren clashed the mountain with his sword, slowing down speed, then flipped through an opening in the mountain. Ren landed on the staircase he was climbing before. Breathing heavily, he arose. He reached into his sheathe and took the book out. Putting his sword back into the sheathe, he sighed. He slowly walked back towards the entrance, slightly shaken. __________________________ The man landed gracefully on the ground. Blood gushed from many places on his body, but it slowly mended itself. Sindrolig growled, but he wasn't surprised by the outcome; the plan went perfectly. "He will soon be in our hands..." Darkness enveloped around the area, and three Noiiz came in it's place. Sindrolig laughed. "Attack Unedain!"
