If you don't like to mine much and you are a member, you can do the quest "the dig site" and it will help a lot with mining in the beginning. I started a lvl 3 skiller, and I did that quest, and it jumped me to lvl 31 mining and I didn't even have to touch an ore. you don't need any requirements for this quest, only that you are a member.

 

 

 

It's good to do if you want to start mining iron pretty fast right off the bat.

 

It gives you 15,300 mining XP.

Nice idea. Then you can also do knight's sword quest to get 31 smithing. This is a quest that i really advice to do when still low level, otherwise your mining level will be higher than your smithing level (and i prefer higher smithing).
