it's a toshiba running xp, can't find where any other specs are for it [used that dxdiag thing and couldn't make much sense of it]

I'm looking at an acer witht eh following the specs:

* Processor - Intel Core 2 Duo T5450 / 1.66 GHz ( Dual-Core )

* RAM - 2 GB (installed) / 4 GB (max) - DDR II SDRAM ( 2 x 1 GB )

- Please call 0870 167 0818 for double memory offer

* Hard Drive - 160 GB - Serial ATA-150 - 5400 rpm

* Operating System - Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium

* Screen - 15.4' TFT active matrix 1280 x 800 ( WXGA ) - 24-bit (16.7 million colours)

* Optical Drive - DVD±RW (+R double layer) / DVD-RAM - integrated

* Graphics - Intel GMA X3100

Is that laptop much better than the one i'm currently using and is it worth £400 or could i get better bang for money, thanks for any help i receive

That is only a fairly minor upgrade, if at all. For that price however, you are not going to do a whole lot better. If I were you I would just clean up your current computer and use it for another year or so until the new core i7 mobile processors come out.
