Pureprayer, you're awesome.

The Tip.It Microhelper is a Firefox addon, and so requires Firefox to be installed and used in order to use the addon. You cannot install Firefox addons with Internet Explorer.

May I ask why tip.it favours the 3rd most used browser?

May I ask why tip.it favours the 3rd most used browser?

Firefox is the second most used browser (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Usage_shar ... b_browsers), the addon is for Firefox because of a few reasons:

  • [*:2oqjilg7]A recent website poll showed that more people use FF whilst browsing Tip.It than IE. (
http://www.tip.it/runescape/?poll_id=135)

[*:2oqjilg7]Firefox extensions work very well with the browser, and it is based on a Greasemonkey script, which is for FF only.

[*:2oqjilg7]Coding extensions for Firefox is much easier than for any other browser.

I thought safari would've been used more than FF, basically due to Macs. :)

Yeah, I thought some of the coding stuff would be FF only, but not even 200 more tip.it users used FF than I.E, and i'd say quite a bit use swiftswitch/kit which counts as IE (even though it doesnt need the microhelper) :P

But why not? :(

We simply don't have the time nor staff at the moment to create and maintain a separate extension for IE. It would have to be re-written by someone who is familiar with creating addons for IE, and would also need to be constantly updated and maintained. I'm not saying it will never happen, but for the time being it's just not possible.
