BlackCormac
hi, im running a hp media center(xp) with 3700+ amd athelon, 1.5 gig ram, GeForce 6000 graphics card on a home network (linksys dsl router). Every time i get into a crowded pk scenario (clan war) i get lag [bleep]ed and wind up dying. Is there an easy fix for me?
Cmon101
First of all one of the most likely perpetraiators is Spyware, but it might be cookies/add-ons. For spyware scan with Norton or other virus protectors that provide spyware blocker/finder (make sure Norton is updated enough if using). If you don't have an Anti-Virus google ad-aware SE, this is a very simple and free to download spyware blocker (offers buy version too). This is what I use on my computer. If that doesnt work delete all your temporary internet files as well as cookies on your browser as well as your offline internet files (you can do this by going to tools, Internet options, delete files and delete cookies). If these cookies and internet files are the problem be aware of it! Go to privacy from Internet options and set your protection to High or Block all if Nessecary! I also addvise only alowing 1 MB of space for cookies, this can be set under settings for temporary files, in internet options. Runescape may not load as fast because of the less space allowed for cookies. Another option is to go to manage add-ons under Internet Options and disable any you don't recognize (makke sure these are not neccesary for Internet Function), this will increase computer speed. Overall, I think your problem is simply slow internet because of miscelanious things, so these center upon fixing that. P.S: If none of this works pls reply in this topic, as i have a few more tricks up my sleeve as to the problem of slow or problematic Internet. Cmon101
One other thing I use Linksys as well for wireless Internet. There is a very low chance, but if you have any wireless phones (not cell phones) in your home they might both be set to the same frequencey for incoming or outgoing calls since they have to respond to the charger or main router. If your lag strike seems to happen right as someone calls, every time. This is definately your problem. This happened to me and I am forced to pick up a wired phone while I'm playing. A microwave on close by could cause this to. However, unless it happens every time this is not your problem.
