For the completing the easy tasks, the lamp you get will only grant experience in skills over 30, so it's not any skill of your choice, as the guide states.

yes it is, you want to put it in herblore and your herblore level is only 6! you hold onto the lamp and get 30 herblore! now you can put it in the skill of your choice!

The only problem is that you physically have to hold on to it then. No banking.
