Ok, the title has very little to do with my post except the fact that i've had two ideas. The first being a function to personalise what you say.

So you're fed up with the fact that everytime you want to change the colour of your writing you have to type the silly little code/trigger beforehand? Why not make a function where you can enter that in a box, and its automatically pasted before anything you say. I dont imagine this'd take up alot of resources, as its gonna be a simple sort of copy & paste/filter function like(if i sound like i dont know what im talking about, its most likely because i dont). It doesnt need to be a permanant value saved in your character, and will be erased whenever you log out(a bit like the run function, its only temporary in my eyes and a logout sets it back to walk). Any comments on this?

Secondly, crap. I had a really good idea for secondly, i was damn proud of it, but i came here and read a few threads and posted then i wrote this and I've forgotten, but ill try to remember. Maybe ive forgotten because i actually read it here already, but i swear it was a really good idea. If i think it up again i'll edit it into this.

EDIT: I *think* it was to deal with the problem of rares, why dont jagex just make them all untradeable? Forget all the people who already have them or made money, just make them untradeable now. Unfair advantage? They didnt care when they cut the crumble undead exp in half(without making any explicit notice i'll add). OR make them all untradeable, but available to any account that was around at the time they were released, as opposed to my original idea of everyone(to counter the argument of 'but they're to show how long you've been around'). Jagex MUST have account creation dates somewhere, i cannot understand why on earth they wouldnt. How hard would it be to do it like that? Just let anybody who was around at the time of the drop have them from Thelissa, and all untradable. People who werent, tough, its the whole point of them surely? I know theres alot of posts like this, i dont care too much for rares myself, but they are affecting the economy.

(I'll go get some water in preparation for the flaming)

EDIT EDIT:THIS WAS THE IDEA! I remembered as i was reading back the end of that post, and considering why they were getting rarer. Anyway, so, items right? They are either picked up or they arent, we all know what happens to the ones that are picked up, but what about those ones that arent?? As far as im aware they dissappear into oblivion, and whats the point of that? people tell us everyday to recycle and so i think there should be an item graveyard of some sort, so that after something has dissappeared cos its not been picked up, can be recycled. I dunno where it should be, maybe at like high level wilderness where everything goes into a big patch for a longer time than it normally exists(items only stay for like 5min after other players can see them). These could go to the graveyard for like 1-X hours. Or the graveyard could get completely cleared every X hours. Alternatively, they could go to general stores maybe? Scatter them over the general stores of the land, or have a specific lot of general stores where all the uncollected items go, like a lost and found shop(only you dont go and claim stuff you've lost, you pay the general store of stuff other people have lost). I'd like to hear any thoughts on the idea, its probably been a common idea in the past though. In the meantime, ill prepare for even more flaming.

EDIT THE THIRD:Having just read Thargens excellent post about bank space, his chairty idea might be alot better than my graveyard idea, i recommend going there. Althought with the graveyard idea, make it in wildy and like abyss that you get instantly skulled upon entering, and theres a limit to the items you can take from it. Thargens Thread Here

ok so he's my words...

1st i think that when you die and no one pick up you stuff if you are in the wildy it does to the graveyard where you have to have a spade to dig it up and if you are in the non wildy part it goes to the charity sound good?

2nd i say that you can only get say 10-20 things from the charity and like 1 a day?? or maybe just 1 every week?? and the gaveyard is just for like bones and stuff??

You have the right, and people have the right to hate you for it.

Thus, the circle of life is complete.

I like the idea of different places the items go to depending if its in the wildy or not. A limit on the amount of items people can retrieve would definitely be needed to stop hoarding.

sounds like a fun idea, especially the thought of actually WANTIN to go into a charity shop/second hand shop and get good items easily as long as people hav dropped them. the only drawback might be that people will not want to die coz then NE1 can get there prized items, which could b a let down really

but they're disappearing away anyway. I'm saying for it to go to these places after the drop period(5min visible to the dropper, 5min visible to everyone else, then to the charity/graveyard/wherever instead of oblivion).

i think ppl should work for their items. there are MANY items that have a far lower shop/hi alch value than what players pay to other players for it. not just rares, but things like ores, bones, hides, bars, etc. a steel bar sells for like 60 gp in the shop, for eg.

all items recycle. people are accumulating more items and gp than they are losing. think how many bones, gp, seeds, ashes, burnt food, beer glasses, etc are left on the ground and disappear on a typical world in a day. it would be ridiculous to have to capture all those items to stock them somewhere till somebody buys them. the reason why ppl let them drop and disappear is because they dont want to do the work of gathering them.

then we have to remember that the resources in runescape are constantly regenerated. you mine an ore, it comes back. you chop down a tree, it comes back. you kill a monster, it comes back. the only limit is time. i say let the items disappear into oblivion. they regenerate anyway

Are you a member with a full bank and cancelling your subscription? Are you an F2P player that wants more bank space? Check out my guide on Going to F2P with a full bank

Nice job, well explained. RS is based on this regeneration system, otherwise RS would be overcrowded with junk. Simple concept, really. Should not be messed with.

As far as the rares go...sigh. I think they're lame. I think they look silly. I think it's a total waste of gp and a silly way for merchants to get really rich.

However, I've been arguing about it for a long time, and people (Duke Freedom, mostly) have convinced me that they actually keep prices down for people like me who wouldn't pay 1 gp for a phat. So, leave the rares alone. They'll be gone someday.
