Things I wrote

Featured Replies

I'm in an Indie Folk duet with my friend and for this reason I started writing lyrics, poetry and other forms of prose so I thought I'd share some.

Illness

[hide]The daily maladies,

Of a prisoner of war,

Echo the consequences

Of a love no more.

Enclosed and incarcerated,

As the fever builds a sweat,

The notion of some solitude,

Is less than just a threat.

Proficient supplies and,

Plentiful care,

But regardless, you’re degrading,

Because you’re not with her.

The slight hesitation,

Was part of your charm,

But as you waste away now,

It’s filled with malice and harm.

The only silhouettes that you see,

Are the beings you despise,

As they write your own tragedy,

Without any compromise.

Who are they to choose your fate,

To weave the strings of the marionette,

Who are they to play with you,

How can they know best?

This is your anecdote,

This is your account,

No one can choose how you live it out.

So push on and on through the scales of the dragon

And into the fiery belly of the beast,

Remember that it’s worth fighting for

And that one day you’ll stumble upon what you needed all along.[/hide]

That one ^ isn't really personal, thus the reason I'm posting it, it's also quite wordy, and probably loses the rhythm towards the end, but during songs we improvise to make the lyrics fit.

The following is something I wrote while bored, not necessary lyrics, just random musings. Maybe I come off as rather pretentious for a 17 year old but I could care less.

[hide]As we strive to uncover every possible outcome of this callous world’s future,

Analysing every [bleep]ing feeling and detail, only to make everything labelled,

Everything contrived, and as artificial as the machines we pollute this world with,

We fail to understand, to grasp the nature of our human lifestyle; we are not here to beat down on this dead horse and take in every detail of the things we breathe.

Pulling, pulling and pushing the very seams of our world until they break and we cease to exist, then what is there left for us? Tell me what is [bleep]ing left for us when there are no fastenings holding our once pure Earth in place!

But maybe the analogist’s view is the best one, because I am left rotting away in this place, so bitter because something sweet turned so sour before it even touched my thirsting lips,

And now I wake up every sunrise with this foul taste burning in the back of my mouth, reminding me that there is nothing to exist for when even love is just a pointless experiment gone wrong.

So if you really desire to place yourself in the position of he who turns everything meaningful into that of a test,

At least you’re uninhibited by the regret and the duties of those who prefer to live under the burden of feelings, sentiments and hope.

Now as I am sundered from the only theoretical point of carrying on, I wonder if it’s worth it to attempt this game another time, to look for another reason to push on and on until I reach my end and discover what all of this could possibly have been for.

And you, you are still always here in the back of my polluted mind, recalling to me the details of my misfortunes and my regrets, keeping yourself tight within the circle of my company and tightening yourself more and more to my inferior, as I am neglected and absent from your all your beautiful yet ignorant musings.

Leave me alone, let me be, and don’t return because I am contrite to say that I am done with you if we shall never be.[/hide]
