Reading PM's

Featured Replies

When it shows that you have a new PM in the sidebar on the right hand side of the main page, if you click on the link and go to the PM, it doesn't mark it as unread. I'm sure this is probably not supposed to happen.

Did you mean:

if you click on the link and go to the PM, it doesn't mark it as read..

And I assume you are talking about the notification and not the actual private message? I know that anytime I get a notification, it will only be marked as "viewed" if I click the notification bar at the top of the page (Next to "Signed in as <username>"). Viewing whatever you were notified of via the right hand side on the main page will not do the job. While I cannot say for 100% certain, I would think that is simply how the system works rather than being a glitch.

But if you're talking about the actual private message itself and not the notification, then I'm not sure how to help you as I have not experienced that problem myself :(

The whole notification system itself is a mess and does not work "correctly". You'd think viewing a PM should clear it from notifications, or viewing a post of yours that was quoted but nope.

I hope it's a bug and not intended to work like this as if that's the case then whoever designed it didn't seem to realise how to make a usable system.

I have no idea myself about that though.
