Music/Movies your catharsis?

Without getting too detailed, basically the ancient Greeks would often go to play's in order to achieve a feeling of catharsis. What this is is a emotional cleansing of sorts, attend a play on death and in the tears you leave behind at the play, you can sort of deal with the death that you might have experienced.

I know often people attend movies for the fun of it, but after the movie is over, do you often feel emotionally tied to it? That being said do you often end up musing for a while after the movie is over and your at home about what the movie talked about? Or do you ever want what the movie had (certain emotional ties between certain characters)?

I liken it to listening to songs about breakup after breaking up with someone. Do movies often end up helping you deal with stuff that wouldn't have been brought up otherwise?

It all depends really. If the movie was a good one, and it didn't end right it totally ruins the emotional tie it puts you in. Sometimes a good movie ends, but at the ending there should be more, and it leaves questions unanswered, then you will think about it for hours. Thats defintily a variable a director tries to add to his script. A director often must think; "How can I grab the audience into the movie." So being emotionally tied to the movie is usually normal. Happens to me all the time.
