I recently formatted my HDD to remove the multitude of unwanted files i had accumulated. I have now re-installed Windows Xp and the first time i visited Runescape i was stunned to hear music at the login screen as this had never happened before. When i have entered my details the music stops never to return. Reading through the forums - i get the feeling that there is more sounds that should be available to me. Make sure you have the latest drivers available for your sound card (since you just reformatted.)

Thanks for replying. The sound effects are intermittent i.e. they cease at any time during the game. I will reinstall the sound drivers and check the game settings as you suggest.
