So, today i got the idea to load linux up on my OldWorld Power Book. My problem is that I am a Linux neophyte and I dont have and way to find which partion it is on (eg. hda1, hda2...) Does anyone here know how to find the names of the partions as linux sees them, because when I try to boot I get a kernel panic and it asks me to specify "root="

What distro and what bootloader? Did you try and get help on more Linux-oriented forums?
