Old school player who is confused as hell

Featured Replies

Hey guys! I haven't played Runescale in ages...last logged in 1,732 days ago. I'm so damn lost on what's going on lol. I started up an old school account and started doing some slayer, as I loved that skill. But it's kinda depressing looking at my skills and starting over from scratch.

Are there any beginner guides out there for the RS3? I'm far from a beginner at runescape but have never really played RS3 and I'm so overwhelmed with everything available.

I might just say screw it and stick to old school lol

I'm moving your topic over to Help & Advice where it's better suited. :)

In terms of RS3 you might want to start at the combat academy in Lumbridge, with a bank deposit box and near the furnace. You can learn about the new combat system there and it should help you get started on Slayer. Alternatively, if you don't want to deal with learning a whole new combat system, you could turn on Legacy combat in your settings instead. This allows you to play mimicing the old style combat on RS3 - no abilities and such.

Unfortunately I'm not sure I can point you to a good beginner guide for it, but one thing to bear in mind is that a lot of things have become streamlined. Armor and weapon efficacy, for example, are almost completely determined by what level, or "tier" they are. For example, outside of PKing or some special situations, every dragon weapon is virtually the same, aside from styles to exploit specific weaknesses.

In terms of skills, newer methods that give better experience have regularly entered the game. I am not sure about your stats or quest progression but one goal might be to work toward's Plague's End, which unlocks the city of Prifddinas where you will find a lot of higher level skilling and many players hanging out. There is a long list of skills and quests you need for it though, so it might keep you busy for a while!

If there is anything more specific you wanted to know, do feel free to ask!

"Fight for what you believe in, and believe in what you're fighting for." Can games be art?

Awesome thanks so much!! My skills were decent....I have several 99s, 91 or 92 slayer, tons of quests completed, etc.

I've been working on OSRS for the last 5 days haha. I might check out RS3 this weekend.
