Why are UL servers diffrent?

How come there are servers labled like UL and NL and stuff? and for a odd reason me and my new york freinds cant load UL servers which are like world 1,2,100. What makes them diffrent now that i can no longer load them. :?:

UL stands for servers hosted by UnitedLayer as opposed to those hosted by a company whose initials are NL
