It's mostly by holding down the "Alt" Key, and pressing numbers on the Num-Pad. A series of 3 numbers makes symbols usually.

 

 

 

̮̫ = Alt+1,4 and 7

 

₧ = Alt+1,5 and 8.

 

 

 

It just works like that. :D
