Just mine a piece of clay, use the piece of clay with some sort of waterfilled container. Take the now soft clay to a pottery wheel and choose to make a bowl. I hope your crafting is 8 and ur mining lvl is 1 :

i believe his mining lvl would be 1 by now. surely he isnt one of those ultra rare lvl 0 miners?

On Topic: Mine clay, you can find some at the mine near the Champion's guild southwest of Varrock. Use with water, such as a bucket of water, a jug of water. Go to a potter's wheel, There is one in the Barbarian's Village select the make bowl option.
