I want to have a pure dueler that does mage but I don't know how to go about it. Should I first train range to get hp lvls, get 20 def for mystic, or WHAT! HELP ME!!

Get your desired mage level. If you want higher hitpoints raise your attack, strength, and range as high as you want as long as it doesn't change your combat level. If you want a mage tank (good idea) get 70-99 defense and use ahrim's.
