Problems with Runescape sound

For some reason the music plays slowly. The sound effects are fine though. I have tried testing other games, but they work, and CDs work also. I have tried reinstalling JAVA as well, but to no avail. My computer runs on Windows XP, and is around 2 years old. I also defragment on a regular basis, as well as virus scans and anti-spyware using AVG and Ad-Aware respectively. I also tried running the game in Firefox, with no noticeable difference. I play the game using the client instead of a windows browser, and i don't know what make of card i have. My PC is a Dell dimension 4700. Please, give me some help here!
