August 13, 200619 yr my idea for a new quest just outside of canifis on the east side near the hollow trees you meet a man(we'll call him Hamilton Deane). this man is bitter towards the werewolves and vampires that populate the area. He claims they are both gaining power and will soon leave morytania and march out and take over all of runescape, UNLESS YOU STOP THEM! Your first task is to locate the vampire king, his name is Vlad tepes (ruler of the vampires or whatever you want to call him, heck he can be a democratically elected leader for all i care) Hamilton Deane tells you of a man that lives deep in the haunted woods who has recently disappeared. His name is Abraham Van Helsing and he has spent his entire life trying to find and kill Vlad Tepes. You travel to through the haunted woods where you find a campsite that has been destroyed and burned to the ground. searching through the ashes you find a map. This map shows an south of the haunted mines where there is (another mine) an underground passage. You decide to take this map back to Hamilton deane near Canifis. Hamilton becomes shocked when he reads the mysterious writing on the top of the map. Hamilton says it is an ancient writing that was written in the hand of Van Helsing and it proclaims to show the way to Vlad Tepes. Hamilton instructs you to follow the map and destroy Vlad Tepes. "There are such things!" he declares. You go through the preparations garlic in your pocket, a silver blessed crucifix around your neck, i guess in this case a blessed saradomin symbol. and set to work. You go to the underground passage make your way through traps and fight many vampires until you reach a castle constructed underground. (keeping with the nature of runescape you can even surround it with a moat with fishing spots) you stare down at the castle from a cliff. eventually you figure out how to get down from the cliff and enter the castle (level 70 agility would be a good way to get down, make use of that hard agility training). You travel through the castle where you find vlad tepes. much harder than the levle 90 in the haunted mine quest, this vampire king should be like a 180 at least and much tougher then a normal 180. (im sick of quests where u just kill the end guy and its too easy, I want a challenge!) okay Vlad Tepes is dead (or you are). You free Abraham Van Helsing and go back to Hamilton deane with him. You are then instructed you to kill the werewolf king (havent come up with a good name for him/her yet) Van Helsing help you find the King/Queen located in an underground lair along the banks of the river. you find him hes hard as well but in a more melee type fashion. he fight him and hopefully beat him. in his dying breath you walk over to him he grabs you and bites you. Quest complete. you have saved runescape from the scourge of vampires and werewolves threatening it. You are awarded no xp points, but you do get "The curse of the werewolf" in which on your weapons page you can click this icon and temporarily turn into a werewolf. It raises all combat stats by 10, and because werewolves have a higher sense of smell it raises your fishing by 10 as well (or something similiar to that). you also earn the right to teleport to vlad tepes's lair where you can take advantage of the fishing spots and maybe mining or woodcutting. give it an easy access tunnel to canfis to get close to a bank or whatever. maybe throw in some vampires you can train on and test out the curse of the werewolf Open for suggestions here, the quest has a few gray areas where there should be something to make it a bit more interesting. maybe a series of battles to fight as you make your way towads the final battle with the werewolf. (I hate quests that take me from one side of runescape to the other and back again so i would rather not have that here.) Maybe making a stake out of pure silver to stab vlad tepes with and a silver axe to chop off the head of the werewolf would add some flavor. ~Greetings from across the River Styx~
August 13, 200619 yr I like your idea. There are a few things you could do to improve it though. First, the idea of just going and killing the leader is a bit overused. I'm thinking a couple things here - either negotiation or usurption. Here's thought - You attempt to negotiate with Vlad. At first he seems genuine, so you run off and do a bunch of things he demands in order to agree to not attack Varrock (or whatever). After about 5 or 10 of these missions (and they start to repeat), you realize that he's just toying with you. You go back and talk to Hamilton about it. He confirms that Vlad is being a liar, and probably has no intention of honoring a deal. Not only must you kill him, but you must find a replacement willing to step up and take over, and willing to accept a deal - perhaps an agreement to not attack if you help him get power. So you go around talking to vampires (the ones that don't attack you) and finally track down one who has the necessary charisma, but lacks the strength to defeat Vlad. However, if you help him earn the respect of his "people", then he will be able to take over leadership. The idea he comes up with is you go and defeat Vlad. Then, while others watch, he defeats you. But it can't be obvious that you've thrown the fight! So, in order to do this, you have to work with training him to defeat you when you are using one of your attack modes (training attack, perhaps?) So you go on and, with him, face Vlad. After defeating Vlad, the new guy challenges you and you fight him. If you defeat him, Vlad respawns and is tougher than previous. If the new guy defeats you, you get a cool cut scene where he proclaims leadership over the other vampires. After you respawn in Lumbridge (or Falador) and make your way to this castle, the new guy gives you back the stuff you dropped and this portion of the quest is completed. ---- What do you think? - Sligo I know that you believe you understand what you think I said, but, I am not sure you realize tht what you heard is not what I meant.
August 13, 200619 yr Author yes u are are correct it is a bit overused, I like the suggestion on improvement. sounds good. ~Greetings from across the River Styx~
August 13, 200619 yr Author for fighting the werewolf we could bring in the ring of Charos. get it enchanted to unlock a secret door within Canifis, and be sent out to find the witch able to carry out the enchantment. she asks you for a special potion that she needs to complete the enchanment, the ingrediants of which can only be found in the abyss, or maybe in that portal in draynor manor, or you just have to grow it yourself. then after you get the enchantment you need to get a blessed weapon in order to defeat the werewolf, made from silver and mithral. you need to get it blessed but not by just anybody. It needs to be blessed by a very powerful priest. But this priest is dead, (amulet of ghost speak). You find this priest (port phasmytos maybe) get him to bless the weapon and your on your way to kill werewolves. Im a fan of the higher level quests, ones in which you need stats in the 60's and 70's (or higher) so say a 60+ herblore to make potion, a 65 or better to smith the weapon, a 60+ prayer to even be allowed to speak to the dead priest. Another idea for after the quest is completed. Dragon boots. As far as I know we dont have any of those in the game. Underground near Vlad tepes's castle make a room that you can only enter if you are in werewolf form. so you need the "curse of the werewolf" inside is a man that will sell you dragon boots and maybe a dragon warhammer, or maybe have him sell weapons that are specific to fighting the living dead: expand on the wolfbane dagger, (a wolfbane longsword. a wolfbane shield.) And a new slayer monster. Anyone ever seen the movie Underworld. They have the half vampire half werewolf creature in it. Make something like that and put it in as a slayer monster near the castle. level 90 slayer needed and it drops the sword of shadows. A sword that when wielded and a special used created a shadow of the wielder that will aid in an attack on an opponent (temporarily of course). ~Greetings from across the River Styx~
August 13, 200619 yr Author What no thoughts on this idea? I thought it was a pretty good idea myself, but then again i wouldnt have posted it if i thought it was horrible. ~Greetings from across the River Styx~
August 14, 200619 yr Well i think your idea is really good but it too complicated. You have vampires and werewolves in one quest where you have to kill both of their kings. I think you should only have one of the creatures in this quest and be able to have an armour of them at the end of the quest that turns u into that until you take it off. Code:
