zonda
Its a combination of things. Windows movie maker, bad codecs, bad recording programs, and possibly an older computer. For a computer to capture screen caps and turn it directly into an AVI is a huge burden on the CPU, and the fact that it's creating a huge AVI alone is already meaning its lower quality. Not bad... but not super either. Mind you it is still uncompressed. When you use windows movie maker, it automatically compresses it with the windows codecs. These are made to be quick and for general purpous... like making a web blog or a short skit to show mom and pop, not to be used for professional quality videos. Making an actual video requires way too much work for a game as simple as RS. Just as a short run down, it would consist of: First getting a program to capture screen rates at around 29FPS and make it a BMP file, with your video card maxed out. You would want to do this at a large screen size, then use a batch file to shrink them all down convert them to an uncompressed AVI, and then edit it with something like Sony Vegas Video / Adobe Premeire / Video Mach, and finally use Divx Pro codecs to compress it and the sound. However, the only thing I can suggest to you is to set your resolution to whatever RS is... I think 800 x 600, make sure nothing else is running to hog memory, and then after the AVI is created, use something like video mach (free and just as simple as windows movie maker) and download the divx free codecs, much better then the default windows ones and also free. ...
