I can't seem to find the battered book anywhere - i tried the one in seers village but its now called slashed book (because of the elemental workshop quest) and thorgel won't accept it...

 

can anyone help with this?

Definitely a glitch if you're sure he won't accept slashed book. Have you tried getting the book without a knife in your inventory?

no knife - i got the book from the bookcase and it was already slashed but he still wont take it :(
