November 7, 200619 yr In ff 1.5 when I typed in a word like "idiot" into the address bar it would automatically go to the page that is the first result for that word on google. However, in ff 2.0, it shows the search result for the word "idiot," making me go through the extra step of clicking the first link myself. Is there a way to fix this?
November 7, 200619 yr Isn't there an extension out for it? I think I remember seeing one something like that so its would be worth checking out the extension add on page for ff 2.
November 7, 200619 yr Thate has to do with Google's "I'm Feeling Lucky" button. You press it and whatever your first search result is, it will show the page of the first search result. Didn't really help you, I know. EDIT: Okay, this is wierd. Was looking at runesmithie's thread about LifeHacker. Browsing through it, I found a lot of interesting things. Inclding this: Fetch only what you click Fx .6 and up: Firefox has this wacky little feature that downloads pages from links it thinks you may click on pages you view, like the top result on a page of Google results. This means you use up bandwidth and CPU cycles and store history for web pages you may not have ever viewed. Creepy, eh? To stop that madness, set the network.prefetch-next key to false. * Key: network.prefetch-next * Modified Value: false That must mean that yours is set on false, change it to true. To get to the config page, type in "about:config" (without quotes) into your address bar. Hope this is what you were looking for. "We'll bring the sexy back to judging >_>." --Nadril Bleh, once I get off my lazy bum and go to Imageshack, there will be a picture here.
November 7, 200619 yr Author Vito_Blade: Setting that to true still doesn't make it work. :( Thanks for the help anyway.
November 7, 200619 yr Vito Blade's suggestion is incorrect. If I were you I'd reset network.prefetch-next - it's actually a useful feature. I've seen people say on another forum that Tabbrowser preferences affects this - do you have that extension? Try going into about:config and in the filter box, type keyword. Are the two preferences (keyword.URL and keyword.enabled) in regular text, or in bold? If they're in bold, right click on them and select "reset." Where the bloody hell are you?
November 7, 200619 yr Author keyword.URL and keyword.enabled are both in regular font. I'm really going to miss having the address bar as an "I'm Feeling Lucky" option
November 8, 200619 yr Ah.. apparently in Fx 2 it now only goes to the first result if it's a clear match, else it shows the google search results. Try changing keyword.URL to http://www.google.com/search?btnI=I%27m ... e=UTF-8&q= :) Sorry for the confusion. Where the bloody hell are you?
