Short Story: 'Proof'

Ever since the life-changing dig in Siberia, the world was never the same. The world was a more religious place, and the disbelievers were converted daily at the dig site. Due to irrefutable proof.

I waited in the halls of this strange research facility. I had heard about the people who visited this place. Mindless, raving lunatics. They made no sense, and gave no information about what went on inside this place. This was an apparent ÃÆââââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ãâ¹ÃâtourÃÆââââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢ of the conversion area. I wanted to see exactly what went on here.

 

 

 

A guide finally arrived. He greeted me and others who were waiting for this ÃÆââââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ãâ¹Ãâirrefutable proofÃÆââââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢, and promptly led them through heavy sets of blast doors.

 

 

 

ÃÆââââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ãâ¹ÃâThe hole,ÃÆââââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢ said the guide. ÃÆââââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ãâ¹ÃâWhere we first made our encounterÃÆââââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ãâæwith them.ÃÆââââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢

 

 

 

No one asked exactly what they encountered, because they were too busy staring at the giant pillar of flame behind what seemed to be two feet of glass. An occasional shadow could be seen within the pillar. There was a perpetual murmuring coming from the transparent barrier, the occasional scream; and cries for help.

 

 

 

ÃÆââââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ãâ¹ÃâWhat is this?ÃÆââââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢ I asked.

 

 

 

ÃÆââââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ãâ¹ÃâI believe you know that this dig in Siberia cracked the crust to the lowest point humanity has ever gone, Mr., uh,ÃÆââââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢ the guide checked his roster.

ÃÆââââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ãâ¹ÃâThe Earth turned out to be hollow. This institution was seized by the local churches and mosques for one reason.ÃÆââââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢

 

 

 

ÃÆââââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ãâ¹ÃâAnd that is?ÃÆââââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢

 

 

 

ÃÆââââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ãâ¹ÃâIt is an opening into hell itself.ÃÆââââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢

 

 

 

ÃÆââââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ãâ¹ÃâI donÃÆââââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢t believe in the Devil.ÃÆââââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢ At this point, a set of double-doors opened and a white-coated scientist entered the room.

 

 

 

ÃÆââââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ãâ¹ÃâYou should,ÃÆââââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢ the scientist said.

 

 

 

ÃÆââââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ãâ¹ÃâWhy? Why do you believe in him?ÃÆââââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢

 

 

 

The scientist chuckled. ÃÆââââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ãâ¹ÃâI? I believe in him because of course, I built his cage.ÃÆââââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢ He tapped a remote control and a large rounded blast door opened. It was at least twenty stories high. Beyond a golden energy shield, a fifteen story high monster lurked.

 

 

 

ÃÆââââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ãâ¹ÃâThis is our irrefutable evidence, kind sirs. Satan himself.ÃÆââââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢

 

 

 

The thing was comprised entirely of humongous skulls, all gathered into one morbid ball. Underneath the skull-ball, were eight insectoid legs. Being an experienced shield theorist, I saw where the shield disabling interface was located. It was there incase too much nuclear energy bundled up within the golden barrier. A voice like thunder rumbled from beyond the force field. ItÃÆââââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢s front legs slammed against the shield, struggling for freedom.

 

 

 

ÃÆââââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ãâ¹ÃâHow long do you think you can keep me in here? I have my followers. You will all pay! ALL OF YOU!ÃÆââââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢ screamed the mass of skull and leg. The voice was full of murderous intent.

 

 

 

I could see how these religious people converted others to their religion with this.

 

 

 

The facility was meant for atheists to learn the truth.

 

 

 

Oh, and did I mention that I am not and atheist? I can hear you asking, ÃÆââââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ãâ¹Ãâthen why are you there?ÃÆââââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢

 

 

 

IÃÆââââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢ll tell you: I am a Satanist.

 

 

 

I ran to the disabling interface and tapped a few keys.

 

 

 

The shield flickered off.

That was...different....I enjoyed it. I would think that it would be longer, if you had not have put down short story :roll:

 

 

 

It was a good story however. Seeing the devil(Which is Evil with a D, just as God is Good with out an O, showing how creative we really are) would not convince me of anything.

 

 

 

Though I can see that it is very convincing to someone that has not thought it through. If there is a devil then why does there have to be a god?

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

I liked it though and it was a good twist at the end, although it was a bit obvouis...sorry but it was apparent about

Anyone else would have said I don't believe you, or thats impossible. Embrassing the existance of hell doesn't mean that there is a devil....

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Would recomend it anyway though.
