How do you do different shades and make it blend in if you know what i mean

just go to google and type in " pixel art tutorial" or something like that...

 

 

 

but here's some tips..

 

 

 

make the edges much lighter than the original colour where the suns hitting them

 

 

 

make the sides lighter/ darker according to where your lightsource(s) are

 

 

 

and using darker colours tends to work for me, unless you want a more "cartoonish" look, then use black outlines and light, high contrast colours..
