  1. Kinda funny that you like my signature. All that I do is "C *scribble scribble* C *scribble scribble*" and then throw in a line for a T and two dots for I's. About the background, I still do not know if I am going to use it or not... I kinda like have more contrast between it and the background... Right now I am trying to think of some nice little flowers that would go well if I put them around it... I was kinda thinking something like black and white daises or maybe even a carnation or two.
  2. Update I fixed a few things. Corrected some values, smoothed out some curves, added more to the center yellow leaves, and some other minor things. Testing out something for a background so that it is not so contrasting, but I think I may like it with more contrast better. But now that I see the background in a different surrounding, I think I might just use a plain black one with more flowers... I think I need to thicken up the bottom right leaf; it is just so scrawny in comparison to the others. Any other thoughts?
  3. Thanks for the comments! About the shaky lines, yes I am using a tablet, and the lines were there on purpose. This kind of flower has weird bends to it. Although I do get that you think it is award looking, probably mainly because the shading around the parts makes it appear as if I just could not draw nice curves... About the yellow part, yeah I do not know what I was thinking, I am going to need to expand it of so it does not look as weird... About the background I was thinking of just leaving it blank other than "Happy Mother's Day" and maybe a signature... and if I have enough time I may add another type of flower or two... So things that need improvement: [*:2nipjml7]Some color things [*:2nipjml7]Fix the shaky lines [*:2nipjml7]Fix the main yellow leaf in the middle [*:2nipjml7]Needs some major fixing in the bottom right leaf... [*:2nipjml7]Fixing of some values Also currently this is made up of 2 layers, the black background and the flower. The problem is I was kinda careless when I made the flower so that it has some spots that look like shading, but really they are only spots where I did not have the opacity turned all the way up when I was painting. So I am wondering, is there a way (other than just making a layer from visible and making a renderer out of it) to be able to get it full opacity? *note I am using GIMP* Thanks a lot! Chris_0076
  4. Thanks for the comment, yeah the color blending needs some work, as well as some of the color choice... I got kinda lazy right before I posted and I was shading with black... and tinting with white... I'll have to go back and fix that :wall: The edges I have noticed are quite rough... any ideas? Should I blur them, or just take a small soft eraser brush along the edge to clean them up?
  5. Have not posted in a month or so... so here is something I am working on. I just started this today and this is as far as I have gotten. It is the start of a Mother's Day card for my mom... right now it is very rough, so and crits would be really appreciated. Right now I am tring to think of some stuff to fill the white (really it is black...) space with other than Happy Mothers Day... I guess really I need to bring out a lot more depth... and value contrast .... but meh it is a start. Fell free to mark spots that need improvement... even if it is just circling the entire thing. Also I do not care if you rip this and use it for whatever.
  6. It is not as good as blender. IMO LOL. Blender is a free program, 3DSM is a £5000 3d program. It's also the industry standard for 3D design. What do you have to back up Blender? Just because something is free doesn't mean it is worst... That is what everybody thinks about, money. Agreed with dsavi. Also, so gimp is worse than PS with what your saying... GIMP can open PSDs and Use PS brushes. Can PS open XCFs and Use GIMP brushes. Blender is a widely used program that can make models, movies, games, and more. Blender Corp. have made around 2-4 movies and 1 game. EDIT... why are the quotes not working? It is the Blender Foundation... not corp. And I do not see the reasoning behind arguing about how much something costs... If I drove a taxi all day would it matter how much the car costs as long as it runs? Would it not matter more on pure driving skill rather than that I was driving a Toyota over a a Lexus? Sure one my have a nice title or look to it, but either way all you are doing it carrying people from one place to another. It does not matter what software you use... all that matters is that you are able to use it. I am sure that most professionals do not chose to use 3DS Max just because it is the industry standard. They pick it because that is what they know best and that is what they were trained to use. Some parts of this could be because Blender is relatively new. There is nothing that can not be created in any standard (basic modeling, rendering, animation, ect.) 3D software that could not have, about as easily, been made in another. Software does not make art (well I guess random generators, or presets...but that is not the point.) it is based on the skill of the individual that creates it. [/rant] Anyways, this is a very nice semi-starter piece. It is a nice example of the procedural capabilities of max. The main thing that I do not like about it is the resolution... mainly because it takes out so much of the detail, but I assume you did that for a sig. The way that it rendered looks like it has depth of field turned on... Although I think that it because of all the detail showing in the middle but not the edges. The lighting is odd based off of the moon in the sky but I guess that is the unrealistic part you were talking about. Did you do any gamma corrections on this? Right now it seems to be very 2 value. Could you possibly bring out some of the middle values to give some more detail to it? Maybe a little lamp here. Then some inverse lamps there... And that is all about I have to say.
  7. hmm.... is that all? Kinda strange... normally there are a lot of critiques about what I post here.
  8. Here are some vectors that I made about a year or so ago when I was learning to use inkscape. No tutorials were used, no scripts, just some guesswork and a few hours of my life, which were thoroughly enjoyed :D meh, here they are. Here is my first: And here is a Mother's Day Card I made my mom: EDIT: If you have any solutions to the patten along path problem in the border of the second one it would be greatly appreciated. If you have any criticisms, please be harsh... I don't want any wishy washy answers that I can not learn from. Thanks, Chris
  9. Wow... I love what this gallery has come too... it used to be like a real art gallery nice, peaceful and relaxing... it did not matter how bad the picture was you would never truly get a flame war like I see all too much now. *Almost* every single topic all everyone does is just bashes the image, no matter what it is, and when one does it you have 10 more follow suit to just say the same thing. Nary a one gives the person specifics of what they don't like. All they tell them is that they don't like it...well that is obvious... Also I have noticed a decline in people editing other people's pictures to show them what they are talking about. Not only does this make their point clear, but it also brings to attention specific parts of the image. No matter what someone posts there is no reason in the world that there should be any flaming at all. If you are able to flame them then there must be something wrong that you know how to fix, which then you should provide aide to them in fixing it. Isn't that the point of this being a community? To build each other up? Anyways back on topic... Personally I really like both of them. The first one though seems just a tad to sharp. I do like that both of them have the glittery feel of when you look at a butterfly. For the background I like the canvas/parchment look, it gives it a butterfly collection case look. The glow on the second one is a little to white for me though, maybe even go to a soft green. Maybe you could even do a more centralized glow like if it were a filter placed over a lamp. Hope this helps some, Chris *Burn Baby, Burn*
  10. It is a prebuilt from Dell  and I have no clue where thte recovery CD is, but I can get a new one on Teusday. No I can not get into any form of safe mode.
  11. Yes I have already been to Microsoft's site... I just do not understand their instructions. But if you could explam how I could get started with them I could figure it out. (Being able to use command prompt). No I can not boot into Windows fully. It makes it to where the log on screen should be then it comes up with thte stop error. I have not yet been able to tell if Virtumonde has been removed because when it ran a scan on reboot it told me to reboot and now I am here. I used Combofix (as instructed by a support technician from Spybots forums) As I am now using Knoppix does anyone know of a fix using it? (forgive me of any errors just booted with a Knoppix CD, lacking in spell check)
  12. Well today has been a wonderful day, other than battleing with the dreaded stop error c000021a. More specifically c000021a 0xc0000005 (0x00000000 0x00000000). I have done vast searches of The Google and have yet to come upon anything of noteworthy value. All of the web is full of responses that either do not apply, or I am not able to do in my current state. Work Log: I scanned with Spybot and found Virtumonde so I had it fix it. Then I rebooted and went into safe mode and pulled out my network cable and ran the scan again as well as AdAware and Avast. It was still there so I removed it again and rebooted back in normal mode... and it is still there. Problems Occurring: Google search links go to random places on first click. (Second time they work just fine.) Lots of Internet Explorer Pop ups when running Firefox. Large quantities of used RAM that are not documented in Task Manager. Programs load slow...(but not they normal slow computer slow) It is like it has to search for where it is then it loads the program instantly. Windows Explorer does the same as loading programs when switching folders. Other odds and ends... It restarted and came back up (as well as Avast) now I am getting this stop error and I can not go in via safe mode or last known good configuration. I hope this is a clear and coherent description. Any ideas that do not include doing a repair installation? Well thanks for any help. Chris
  13. Why did you have to bring me and that old picture into this? :wall: Anyways on topic. I find the rock to look more like a blending exercise because of how smooth the transition is. It does not have any sort of depth to it. Some parts are a little better than others but it is mostly the same. And the candle, well first off I would say always use sketch lines, It allows you to see the entire thing take shape. Second I would give my self some sort of a color difference as to where the ground is... but that is kind of a personal preference. The lighting is odd all over, the candle gives off a different light than what is on the candle and just other little things. The base has odd shading (which I could say for my picture as well.) Lastly I would say just look at a picture of a candle to get the general idea to match up. Hope this helps some. Chris
  14. I have no backups for that computer other than system restore points... but when I go to system restore from safe mode it always fails. In system restore it says than the last known good configuration was on Tuesday so I'll boot back up and try that. (Post made from another computer) EDIT: BA-BAABYUM!! So far in Last Known Good Config. It is running just fine. I'll take it through a test spin or two to make sure it is not just messing with me. EDIT: Question: Does last know good config save itself? (I am pretty sure it does just making sure).
