How-To Guide: Switching to SUN Java

Step 1. Download and install the Free Java Software

Step 2. Enable SUN Java

• [*:1eccs5da]Go to Start -> Settings -> Control Panel and open Internet Options
   
  [*:1eccs5da]Click the Advanced Tab
   
  [*:1eccs5da]Scroll downto find the Java (Sun) and Microsoft VM sections
   
  [*:1eccs5da]Check the box below Java (Sun)
   
  [*:1eccs5da]Uncheck all boxes below Microsoft VM
   
  [*:1eccs5da]Reboot

Step 3. Configure the Java Console

• [*:1eccs5da]Go to Start -> Settings -> Control Panel and open Java
   
  [*:1eccs5da]For Windows XP
  • [*:1eccs5da]Select the Basic tab and select "Hide Console" in the "Java console" section
     
    [*:1eccs5da]Select the Browser tab and verify that your browser is selected

[*:1eccs5da]For Windows 2000

• [*:1eccs5da]Select the Advanced tab
   
  [*:1eccs5da]Select "Hide Console" in the "Java console" section
   
  [*:1eccs5da]Verify that your browser is selected in the tag support section

[*:1eccs5da]Reboot

*Note: When you launch RuneScape select "Signed Applet Using SUN Java" before choosing the Detail preference.
