Uninstal Norton Problem

Featured Replies

Long beggining short, Norton that came on my laptop expired some time ago but was never uninstalled.

I have been Running AVG as antivirus, and more recently Lavatech's Ad-Aware to provide spyware protection.

Well, AVG detected a trogen in one of Norton Internet Securitys DLL files. AVG is unable to do anything about it, Windows Control Pannel uninstal locked up and wouldn't finnish, and even modifying permissions I was unable to delete the offending file manualy.

I tried safe mode, but safe mode does not do uninstalls. So I deleted the sub folder with the infected file, rebooted normally and cleared the recycle bin. AVG didn't find anything, so I went ahead and upgraded to the AVG 9 full trial, which is running now.

I trued uninstalling again properly, but now it gets an error as soon as it gets to the unistalling problem and freezes. Besides, I dont care why it wont work, I just need it to work.

So, I do go back in safe mode and delete the whole folder? Norton seems to still have things related to it running, and AVG is not happy about it being on the system, even though it will no longer even try to scan anything.

So, what should I do to remove Norton?

Download Norton Removal Tool run then restart.

Download Ccleaner and remove all files related to norton or symantec.
