  1. Wonderful article on the P-Mods! Jagex definately needs to review it's current standards for recruiting Player Mods! I've run into far too many people who have been victimized by nasty, power-hungry p-mods who abuse their powers. One of my clan-mates just got off being muted and she has no idea why she was muted. Simply being a long-time player and/or being "involved" in the community should not be what it takes to attain this lofty position. I think a player mod should be someone who has NEVER broken a rule or been punished in any way for breaking rules, nor be involved in negative things like gambling, spamming, advertising websites, gold-farming, etc. I would not want to see a huge in-flux of thousands of people with the ability to mute people when their own nasty bias's will result in thousands of innocent people being muted for the crime of disagreeing with, or simply not being liked by the P-Mod!!!
  2. I am continuing to make good progress towards becoming Maxed. I reached 110 Combat (this will become 162 with the release of EoC). Now I can try my luck at Dominion Tower! I killed the Queen Black Dragon yesterday too! It was totally awesome!!! All my skills are now at least level 70 (in some cases much, much higher)!! Despite some reservations about certain aspects of the up-coming EoC update, I am looking foward to it's finalization and eventual release!
  3. I am progressing towards my goals. I recently leveled all but one skill to 70 or above. My total level is sitting at 1996 and will soon be 2000! w00t!! I know I haven't written in a while, for this I'm sorry. I've always had trouble with anything that was like a diary or a journal. I am so looking forward to Septembers updates. 2 new quests! Botany Bay looks to be fun as well. I don't do GWD yet, and I can't wait to see the re-work for Al-Kharid!!
  4. About "He's Glissinda the Troll" article: I loved your article, I've been playing RS for 5 years now, I have almost always had a female avatar (only changing once or twice in game for either a quest or as a joke). I did not really experience sexism at all, early on in my 5 years I did have many people ask me to be their gf or they asked if I had a bf, I do not get this anymore. I still run into people who off-handedly remark that girls do not play RS and that all girl avatars are Guys in Rea Life (or G.I.R.L) I don't care if these people refuse to believe that girls play RS, nor do I care that they don't believe me when I say I am a real girl. There is way too much stereotyping going on, if these guys still believe that girls don't game, they need to get out of the house and attend a few conventions. There are girls all over all the gaming conventions, we do play and we should not have to hide our real genders while playing either! I refuse to feed the steroetype by hiding, just because I "might" get bugged to be someone's gf or just because some ignorant boy can't open his eyes and see that girls do play games like RS! Having a certain genetic makeup does NOT, nor will it ever, affect what games people play!!! We all choose based on personal tastes NOT our genders!!
  5. 12 things (still wrong) with Runescape article: I agree with much of what you have said in this article, however: Dungeoneering, while fun, is a mini-game and those leeches are annoying. The bot nuke from October did succeed, at firs,t and people last year complained about Jagex not caring because they got money from most of the bot accounts, but they still released it. Bots are still a problem and Jagex is NOT ignoring the problem, in the last week we have seen several actions taken against botters and bug abusers. I have faith that the next Bot Nuke is coming soon. The so-called holiday events are fun, but the rewards need massive re-works as they are never really worth it (the icicle and summer crowns from Spring 2011 were awesome, but more recent rewards have not been). The SoF is a bit of fun for me, at least the free spins are. I will NEVER buy spins, or Rune-coins, so I am happy to be part of the solution, however far too many idiot children are spending money on the Squeal and Solomon's for these things to go away. 6 quests in 8 months is not truly bad in my opinion and as for some being novice, this is mainly because the novices were being largely ignored. The recent penguin quest was in the mid-level range, and two of the high level quests released within the last year, I have not been able to do. Jagex is smart to release many quests that cover all levels. There is a way to deal with the pm's from gold farmers advertising their websites. Right click ignore and then report! Jagex IS going through the reports! And finally, IVP is ultimately an entity that wants money, lots and lots of money and for now they are getting it. Troll article: I am one of those who has no real problem detecting internet/forum trolls. I never accuse someone of being a troll simply because they disagree with me. I do however consider people who call others names, or belittle their comments, trolls. They are the essence of a troll. They are rude, crude, nasty and ugly (at least in words), thus they are trolls. I do agree with you that the word is being way over-used and mis-used, that is why I am very careful when I employ its use. And I usually stop responding to someone that I have identified as trolling/flaming. My usual comment is this; "You, sir (or ma'am), are a troll and deserve no further comment from me." This does not stop the troll from continuing to bait me, but I rarely fall for this circular trap.

  7. RE: Hilarity Ensues article. Very nice article, wonderfully written too. I must say that your comment on the people complaining that they didn't get in was so true. they claim that Jagex's choose the wrong people or they choose unfairly. Also the people in the beta forums whining about not wanting the EoC to be implimented was right on the money. They are the people who complain about every single update and claim that RS is dying cause it lacks content and Jagex doesn't care what its players say or want. And as for the lazy testers who are only gambling and trading useless items, sadly these are the same people who will whine and complain when EoC goes into full effect in Sept. They'll claim that Jagex didn't listen to the Beta Testers and they will whine that RS is dying or dead and they're gonna rage quit over the new system. Jagex can't respond to feedback that doesn't exist!! DO NOT listen to these idiots! I am a Beta Tester, I know they are reading our feedback and making changes. Perhaps they will make certain changes that most of us testers want them to make, perhaps they won't. Either way, I am 90% in love with the new combat system and I will adapt, I am human, that is what humans do, ADAPT!! Edit: To Randox: Awesome article, nice to know where your name comes from too, truly unique one! I love it! About troll victims, I understand the pains you Mods go through when trying to enforce the rules while trying not to anger someone, even though they were egged on by nasty trolls and unfortunately ended up breaking the rules, it has to hurt when you must punish them due to their rule breaking. I hate trolls and while I know most RS players and tip.it forum users are not in my age group, they should still try to ignore these evil people and avoid getting punished due to someone else's nasty behavior. My answer to all trolls is: "You are a troll and deserve no further response from me!" It helps me avoid falling into the trolls traps and thus I avoid punishments from the much vexed Moderators like yourself!
  8. Jagex has started their special Combat Beta Weekend Events and the first one is Castle Wars. Playing one full game of CW over the weekend, which now allowes all current members access for the weekends now until the end of the Beta Test, gains you a peice of the special new Mad Scientist Outfit. If you like Steampunk, this outfit is for you! It is totally steampunky to the core! A Castle Wars game takes 20 minutes and is super easy and there's no risk...you defend your flag while trying to capture the enemy flag. Playing it on the Beta Servers is the only way to get a peice of the new Mad Scientist Outfit, with a peice being released during each special weekend event! Go the main RS webpage for a look at the new outfit!
  9. So I've had a chance to toy around on the Beta Servers. Overall, I must say that I like about 90% of the combat changes. The combat abilities, the new looks/stats for the armors, the new action bar (which makes drinking pots and eating food and tele'ing soooo much easier, even the new levels for the monsters are good ( at least most of them). Some things do not sit well with me, however. Multi-way combat everywhere and the lack of full protection from the prayers makes fighting anything take a really long time and makes every slayer task 100 times more difficult to complete. The removal of runes from certain high level spells makes magic cheaper, but negates two very important runes, bloods and deaths, and likewise negates the importance of two quests. New level requirements on enchangted bolts makes training ranged very hard, unless you have 80 dungeoneering AND 80 ranged! Only ONE crossbow in the entire world will allow you to use ANY enchanted bolt!! This is absurd and most of us beta testers hate the change. Most of us are calling for full prayer protection to be restored, single-way combat to be restored and lower requirements on enchanted bolts to be restored as well, no one wants to be forced to train dungeoneering just to get a c-bow that needs tokens to be recharged constantly! This weekend I will be testing out the new combat system on the popular mini-game Castle Wars!! The good news is that Jagex actually IS reading our feedback AND making some changes in the beta, so hopefully they will see that we want the above mentioned changes to happen as well as some graphical changes on the avatars, right now they all look horribly gangly and ugly.
  10. A previously unconfirmed drop for Pyrefiends has been confirmed in game by player Zejokko. She received uncut dragonstone from killing Pyrefiends. She was wearing a Ring of Wealth (4) at the time and it showed the standard flavor text for getting a rare drop. "Your ring of wealth shines more brightly!" She checked the guide for Pyrefiends to see if uncut dragonstone was a confirmed drop and found that it showed the stone as being unconfirmed. I hope thsi helps the bestiary guide for Pyrefiends.
  11. With the plans to rework combat levels so that the new high is 200 (I hope they plan on changing how this is calculated) my previous min-quest is now nerfed! I am changing my goals to be achieving Max in all skills and obtaining the Quest Cape My march towards this is going well....I have one 99 already, many skills above 70, several above 80 and 3 others above 90 and only 5 skills below 70 but above 60! My quest points sit at 260 with only 40 out of 182 quests left to do and 8 in progress!! Combat skills are all pretty much even at this time! 77 Att, 74 Str, 75 Def, 80 Magic, 71 Ranged, 77 Constitution. Slayer is 69, while Prayer is 70 and only Summoning is lagging behind, but that is due to the horrible rate at which charms can be obtained from killing stuff!
  12. My mini-quest to achieve 2000 total level before reaching 105 combat continues...I (for the most part) have avoided leveling combat skills....I level Summoning and Magic recently but neither pushed me to 104 combat let alone 105 cmb. My currrent total level is 1935, so 65 levels remain for me to attain my goals. I raised my cooking recently to 93.. I can cook those pesky rocktails but not fish them yet, fishing remains below 90 atm...it is struggling to reach 83 (lol). Alas I am getting bored with skilling and have avoided playing the game for this last week. I want to continue my slayer tasks and finish some quests that have been sitting on my In Progress list for way too long. But I will remain steadfast and true to my mini-quest. I have nothing else to do with my time...I am a true no-lifer....lol.
  13. Whenever I visit the RS forums or even the tip.it news articles, I see tons of people whining and complaining about this update or that update or that JaGex has lied to us. So JaGex decided to introduce "buy spins" for the populare/unpopular (depending on who you talk to or believe) Squeal of Fortune. This is no matter what they (JaGex OR the players), a micro-transaction and real world trading (RWT was (and is) against JaGex's rules) People are not supposed to be able to buy their way to success in the game, but isn't paying for membership buying your way to success? Doesn't buying a monthly membership grant you access to skills and items not available to free players? I think so. But JaGex is allowed to change the rules in order to incorporate a feature within the game that grows their profit margin. No one is forced to buy spins and these feature has not destroyed the game for people who play the game for fun rather than ranks or huge coinage. The game is suppose to be fun but people keep complaining and whining about every little update or change that JaGex makes. They are the ones who is ruining the game for themselves. Yes, JaGex changed their rules in order to allow for the buy spins feature and yes I think that was a mistake of integrity on their part, but ultimately it is their business, not mine. But to endlessly whine and complain about everything when in reality it does nothing to stop you from playing the game (horrible fps is the only thing that really stops people from enjoying the game and that is something that even I complain about). Only you can make your achievements mean anything, how other people play the game should have NO effect on how you play the game (I may not like rankers but I don't let them stop me from enjoying the game). Only you control what your character does, no one but you can ruin the game for yourself (Unless you're talking fps, lag and bots). All that said, polls and feedback mean nothing when people can make multiple accounts and masquerade as multiple people within the game and the forums while only being one person in reality. I do not believe anything said for or against the SoF due to this simple truth. Statistics can be skewed and often are mis-used. The SoF is harmless fun for me and since I am not forced to buy spins, my account information is never in danger. I follow the rules and I play for fun, period! And yes I realize that my rant can be seen as a complaint in and of itself, my point is all the endless whining and complaining that occurs in the forums and in tip.it articles over the same thing day after day.
  14. Ugh! This is for TS Stormrage and his rant against the SoF, why can't you give it a rest? The SoF is not that bad. I actually don't mind the SoF at all, it is harmless fun as I am not forced to buy spins and as such don't care about those who do choose to buy them. If they really, really want that limited time outfit, goodie for them. I play this game for fun and for me the SoF is harmless, it doesnt interfer with my having fun, so I don't care that it's here to stay. It does not poison the game for me, JaGex is company and ALL companies primary mission is to make money. If people are stupid enough to give them money for something that is actually free, that is their business. The game is not going to die over the SoF buy spins feature. Nor is it going to die simply over an update that makes people mad because its not what THEY want the company to be doing. I refuse to believe half the posts about the SoF, both good and bad, as people can make multiple accounts and thus can haunt the forums as "many" individuals while actually being only 1 person in reality. The figures both for and against the SoF are therefore unrealiable and not to be trusted at all. I can only base my opinion on my own experience with the SoF and I like it and since I play this game for myself and to have fun, I am enjoying all the changes they are making. Only I can make anything I do in game matter, what others are doing does not make or break the game for me. I am sick of people whining about one or two small things that actually only affect the game if THEY let it affect the game for them. Why can't people just enjoy the game and play for fun instead of ranks and huge coinage? And stop hating on the company just because the next update is about something you don't like. P.S. I was highly annoyed by the Mad May adverts, but fortunately I did not let it stop me from enjoying the game.
  15. Personally I love the new Runespan, it has helped me level what was an incredibly tedious skill. Many have said that it's existence devaules their achievements, but I disagree with this senitiment. Skill capes and levels only have the value that the person who achieved them has placed on them, so no one other than the account owner can devalue their achievements. This is not just my personal opinion, but cold hard logic. My skills and levels have value because I say they do. No one can devalue these achievements but me and I see no reason why I should do that simply because a formerly tedious skill has been made easier and more fun. Bonfires are also a wonderful change, although I will miss picking up the lines of ashes left behind by those who lit fire after fire all in a row. Bonfires just make sense to me, I love the fire spirits as they give me not only runes, but also charms, which are hard (but not impossible) to come by and untradeable. This update has made leveling firemaking easier and more fun with the feature of adding logs to someone else's bonfire. Friends can be made at these fires, more xp is to be gained as well. This update, in my opinion has done nothing to hurt the Jadinko Lair either as it is still a much higher xp gain by burning the roots in there, so some people will still go there, I know I will when I run out of logs to burn in my bonfires. :) My current goals are: All levels above 70 (only 5 more skills to go) Firemaking 92 (so I can get that Inferno Adze all my friends are talking about) Runecrafting 80 (thanks to the Span I am well on my way) Total Level 2000 before reaching 105 combat ( well on my way to this one too) These are just the humble thoughts of a Spider Goddess!
