  1. Reclaiming? So he hasn't played for months and months , or did he get caught for botting? Or did he get hacked? I don't believe it would be for botting but I do know when I was reported for my name being apparently offensive  ... when I made contact with Jagex, they responded very quickly and gave me free spins.... took all of about 5 mins.
  2. Well this is an interesting topic about protecting your own information and/or pretending to be someone else ;D! We should totally start a new topic about it... Euhm more to the point, the past lets say 7 years I've been actively been avoiding to reveal any of my IRL stuff other then my first name and I think I've done this quite well... Even if I google my full name, I won't find anything about me in at least the first 10 pages. I know noone knows my full name, because I never told anyone that. I wonder if there would be 1 person who were to be able to socially engineer me... I have even tracked my IP adress myself and it doesn't even show where I actually live. But there aren't many ways to get ones IP I believe... Only perhaps the moderators here could get hold of my IP... Yuppers, I agree, this digressed from the original context, I too play RS because at first it was just a game and then became an escape from real life and to have fun.... I don't know how to do an IP tracker and maybe I am totally naive because I just don't think about doing such things or hunting people down, tbh that is stalking and way too much effort for a game. I do find talk in game about dc'ing people amusing because I do have some idea what needs to be done because of some awesome :geek: friends I have both on and off game. But I am again sliding away from the original topic, I have to say, that I am avoiding places such as Artisans and the yellow trader for my daily challenges because of all this talk about Jagex messing up on their bot catcher.... not that I mind missing out on the Dwarf trader because thieving is definitely not a fave skill of mine. But I am interested in the little bits that are coming through of what people are doing at their keyboards which may be setting off the bot alert...
  3. That's assuming they didn't bot their way to the cape to begin with. ... or otherwise cheat to attain it ... Not just skill capes people cheat at..... Lava cape etc., etc., I am sure there's tons of people who've cheated to attain a wide variety of achievements. It's actually very sad really, when you think about it. I am sure you know of tons of people actually, one springs to my mind instantly, and it is quite ironic because this one person in particular, constantly whines and gripes, I am sure you all know the type of person I mean too.. for e.g., 'this person bots, this person account shares, I of course would never do such a thing....etc., etc.,' yet that person does, just thinks that no one else knows...They also tend to make the loudest noise I find, so it is kind of hypocritical when it comes down to it. I also have a feeling that this person, sits down each time they log in and say a silent prayer and then hunt the lists of maxed banned players searching for names.... But I do not like botters, they are cheaters. AHK keys etc, I have mixed thoughts on it because they are an aid, and I think my thoughts are mainly because my fingers get tied up in knots trying to remember the key binds. There’s certainly a lot of people who come to my mind when I think of cheaters. Like this one person I know who spends her time on Skype showing her naughty bits to various geeks, each of whom she pretends is her “boyfriend”, and gets them to help her max out her character for her … Omg! I so know one of those too, she has like all these different profiles, using pictures she took from different sites, thing is I feel she went through a lot of erm... improvements shall we say, more than the famous Michael Jackson and his facial reconstructions  , most of those fan sites she has been banned from once they found out she was plagiarizing their info, especially quest guides etc and passing them off on to other sites as her own work.... Those players should be banned. Taking credit for others hard work tbh. I also know this very same person had 2 accounts (more than that actually) on a main fan site and actually quoted herself, quoting her other self  in different forums.... I mean really.... how sad for that person.... But that is off topic a bit isn't it, I feel for those that are having problems with keeping their account in the game atm, what I don't understand about Jagex tho, is if they know there is a problem with the report/bot thingy, why they just don't make it inactive atm. And then fix it...... oh wait.... I answered that one myself didn't i! Well especially for those that are being banned and then un-banned. Oddly enough, that’s just the tip of the proverbial iceberg … The one I know also gets people’s personal information, solicits it in-game (which is also against the rules) -- including their phone numbers and other contact information. And talk about crazy? Wow! Tick her off and she’ll go all over the Internet searching references about you and making threats in emails and personal messages. And I mean ridiculous threats that are just plain crazy. Honestly -- this one is so off her rocker you’d think she was about to throw a dingo … On top of all that, she even faked having cancer, if you'd believe it - just to garner sympathy. Can you imagine? Goodness knows what she does with the information she gets from the suckers who give it to her, but anyone stupid enough to actually provide her real photos of themself, or Skype with her or give her a phone number ultimately gets what they deserve. Don't they? Faking Cancer??? Well that is low and a sick thing to do and I mean by faking something like that or a death just to garner attention, I know a few people who sadly passed on the game, but they have not re-appeared to my knowledge. But gaining personal information through Skype is just what you happen to put up there for the 'public' to see, and of course it then leads to what you share when you add friends to your list, so if your using something like that you should be more careful. And besides, any one with a small amount of computer savvy would know what they are doing in protecting their privacy and granted using other peoples real life photo's is a way of protecting your own self. But I wonder what the people who's pictures are being used for another's personal use to garner the 'naughty attention' which this person used to them for, erm shall we say.... inflate their own ego, bit like when someone puts out emails abusing the trust that others have given them just because of some hormonal frustration at being found out etc., etc,... hmmmm this isn't really the forum for all that now is it. But it is interesting what you say, you must be speaking from personal experience right  .But what got me was her insistence that it is her, well 5 of her depending on who you spoke with, oh and I guess, while I am thinking harder about all what you said, people do talk to themselves, just not publicly in fan site forums, cos once they are found out they loose all credibility. Become like a joke I suppose, which again is sad.payback or karma. I also find it funny that when some things are quoted using a quote, that you get the feeling, through the wordings and structure etc., that it again is really the same person, just quoting themselves to make a point and hoping no one else can see it. Quite a few ice bergs out there, one sank the unsinkable so I guess the term, Never say Never! applies more aptly if you get my meaning  Oh and if you know this person is soliciting personal information in game regarding phone numbers etc. Then that should be reported along with screen shots to Jagex to back it up, word of mouth or text is not enough because what is 'said' is known through out the game as being nothing more than just a frustrated fabrication because of some ones petty little jealousy over some insignificant reason which is usually just a psychotic episode in most cases. But, I would definitely report that. And gratz for being un-banned again  But if your having problems with this person gaining your information, then you should perhaps try to stay away from things like 'Skype' etc., and don't share your information or at least stop allowing full public access to it. That would help. But as far as in game, well I have learnt that the people you trusted once, and called you friend, can turn out to be the biggest liars in game just to garner attention or to get some self gratification in spreading gossip to any one who will read it. I had a friend like that once.... pity Jagex didn't make an emote for the 'reaching behind for a knife' ... But I have to say, like all dead wood, its nice to be able to cut it away and put it where it truly belongs.

  7. "Because rules are for players" If you look *really* closely, you'll notice the rule is for player-run games of chances, not for *all* games of chance. If you read my post, you would have hopefully seen I was making an interpretation of those rules... and to be blunt, it really makes no difference if the rule says player-run games of chance and not for 'all' games of chance does it, gambling in or using an outside source on Runescape is ban-able so why have SOF. But then again, I suppose if your the boss you can make one rule for the masses and it does not apply to yourself, bit hypocritical don't you think? Your point being? They don't want people doing player-run games of chances because scamming became much too common (Probably not the only reason tbh.) You don't get scammed by using the SoF. Yes that is true but at the same time, its Jagex taking advantage of something they have seen in the game to make more profit off the player, scams still happen outside of that part of the game so I find that point irrelevant..... that's the hypocritical part and as for rules etc... I agree, botters should be banned same with rwtraders.
  8. 9. My first reaction to the list is boting. My definition of cheating on the game is boting, I don't like it at all, an account on Runescape that can stay there making money or xp chasing while that player is off doing school, work or sleeping is cheating, your not at the computer taking part in the live game so to speak, account sharing though, I do not have a problem with if the account is not on 24/7, and if its not impacting on the community in any way.As far as that rule of should not, well, I guess interpretation is to the individual, it should be reworded to do not, should not means in a way I still can, so it is up to the player whether to do it or not. I do not go through mountains of information on the RS Wiki and I take the report system when I see something I do not agree with in game. It is not there. Account share I mean. Boting is.... So with that, I take it that bots are more of a pain in the proverbial to Jagex. But again that is my interpretation. Again, we have points being raised by a few people on here who have actively participated in account sharing and then cry out that it's against the rules, or even change the topic, well if its not openly said in public as you say, then you as a player can hardly do a report against them. Oh unless it is one of those vendettas by a player against another because of some personal reason. I am quite sure that Jagex is aware of more that what some people assume they do or do not regarding their game, and that they do make some form of communication with the player/players involved and it is again up to the player if it is chosen to be ignored which is why banning comes into affect. So with my thoughts of Jagex and their own rules of should not do's, we have SOF a form of gambling which is ban-able in game and yet they encourage participation with wheeling and dealing extraordinaire and a game of chance, being one of their most obvious. I mean every time you log into Runescape, your greeted with the latest advertisement of whats on the wheel. But then again, that too is a matter of interpretation isn't it? Botted accounts should be banned. People in glass houses should be careful about throwing stones though.
  10. Just a thought tho, to the erm....account share concerns raised by Blyfant.. When I first began Runescape, yes it was in the rules, along with multiple account login's etc... these rules have changed, bit like the Old Testament and the New I guess if you want a comparison, so Jagex has changed its rulings and you can argue about the past as much as you want, but now, you can log in on multiple accounts, just not in the same world etc oh and for the update of the account sharing, it did use to be on the report system, but for the life of me, I cannot find it now... Interesting...
  11. That would be pretty much impossible to tell. But if, say, someone in Canada used an account, and then someone in, say, Australia used it within a couple of hours of the user in Canada logging off the same account, then I'd say that is a pretty obvious example of account sharing. However, I wouldn't think you'd need to be that far apart in order for Jagex to tell the account is being shared. Couldn't they just use proxies? I mean if they're sharing a maxed account, likely with hundreds of millions at least, I'd think they'd take basic precautions. Your avatar is totally hypnotic ...  I suppose they could, and some probably do - but at present it doesn't appear that Jagex is really chasing down people who are account sharing, no matter how obvious ti may have become, in some cases. It isn't the flavour of the month at the moment ... That would be obvious as you point out, but then it's not as obvious as let's say someone, who attempts something like the fire cape and fails repeatedly, and then enlists the help of someone who they know in real life i.e a family member or friend, and has them do it for them, I mean this same person could also use that person to assist them with quests, tasks, anything which requires that player to be able to successfully play the game and make money on it, oh and not to mention the status, of course it does mean how ever, that when Jagex does an update for let's say, the Kiln Cape, it can become obvious in that case because there is a need to hand over the fire cape to complete the kiln cape, now as far as account sharing goes, I think Jagex is aware, they do check, but it concerns them more when the account goes over that line to make obscene amounts of gp and then trade it off into real gold. But also think that before someone points out area's on a world map such as Canada and Australia, then they should be less of a hypocrite.... oooo I forgot to check Meg!
  12. We are talking about Jagex.... When have they delivered what they have promised? I don't know about yourself, but I first started playing Runescape believing what was told to me by Jagex, as recent as the past 12mths with the developing of EOC and that it would be the future way to play the game, only to have it turned around because obviously EoC was bad for 'business' so they milked the opportunity for all they could and reproduced '07. When I first started playing, that was the 'ideal game' and as it progressed it became the 'realistic game', both being worlds apart. I would prefer PMods to be able to instant remove a bot as they do with spammers for one.... that is an 'ideal' example of course when the 'realistic' is that it is bad for business to have such powers give to ordinary players because of the amount of bots that are in both versions of the game.
  13. In an ideal gaming situation, there should not be the need for PMods, and while we are speaking of that ideal game, hypothetically of course, there would be adequate manning of different chats with the appropriate ranks in them to remove people who are disruptive. But there isn't enough, and again I can use one of the examples of the penguin chat which is a chat open for all members of RS, now granted it is only a FC and not a CC, so I would not expect the structure to be as solid because of what it was created for, and there are many such chats in RS, I think it is safe to say that because of the changes on RS they no longer apply to the same value as they were originally intended to. The amount of people playing for a start factor into this along with the introduction of the Clan chat over a friends chat. So we have a player, who takes time to put up on the forums locations, who has an open chat and it cannot be closed off or muted to general talk, who has taken time out to provide a service that is used by the community and appreciated and there is no guarantee of the player creating this FC having it monitored with ranks as strictly as it would in the current clan chats, and yet, we start using the examples from the past, of a large PCE clan, which I also was a member/ Like the current reporting standards etc., this does not apply to the current Runescape. You are speaking of a time when there was probably 100x the amount of players in game at any one time. We can all look back and go.... remember when..... but unfortunately, it no longer applies to current day. PMods should not be removed, not at present anyway, Jagex does need to work on the in game reporting system. I don't know how many times I have seen bots in the usual places, (just an example) I do report them and they are still there weeks later in fact to counter this, what I see that works is that Jagex should really just keep updating their game, so far that is the most successful way to remove them from in game if only until their makers can adjust their code work. we all know that. I also know how many times I have sat in game and typed "I wish there was a mod around...." again something most of us have done because of different situations, and why do we say that? We say it because the current reporting system is inadequate. Now before I get the usual flame out of... Do I need someone in game to protect me etc., etc., well don't bother, all that is showing me is a very narrow view point as to who is playing this game, we have all ages, some play on a parental consent basis and part of that consent is that there is some in game monitoring. Jagex does not only have Runescape as we know, they wont employ more staff just to sit back and play a game 24/7, that would be ideal but will never happen. We cannot remove the report abuse button from in game, because.... I don't know why we cant, mine does not seem to be working, and yet PMods can actually do something in the real time that we cant. Again I will say, I use commonsense when I report someone and it only happens in extreme cases and I have already said what those reasons are. They do not need to be removed. They need to be improved. They have been in game for as long as I have played, some people value them, some don't, but until all forms of chat are removed from the game, you do need something. And this forum is just a small cross section of that community, and I do see the same people posting over and over again on different forum posts, so we are again set in the frame work that happens in most forums of just a small representation of the Runescape community contributing. Until something that works is replaced and I am not holding my breath with that. I do not want to see them removed. You may liken them to a police officer as much as you want, but the police in my community, do work to aid the community and hopefully act as a deterrent but then again that is being said in an ideal situation, and yes I am not naive enough to say that there is no level of corruption there either.
  14. Oh I was not trying to be hurtful and almost shedding a tear is ironic especially coming from someone with asbestos wings and no attitude, but then, I do know that you have coveted the use of Mods yourself and have done so on many occasions, as well as made it known how high up the chain they were or still are. And I am not mud flinging, it is a well known fact in game of who your friends are or were, and for one who is a stickler for choosing the follow the rules of Jagex, I also know, as do many others, that you do not. Yet blow up on forums such as these with snipes towards various participants that you in fact are so angelic and knowledgeable when it comes to making rants or failed trolls. Like I said, find some original content instead of trying to point score off the coat tails of someone else. You were asked about the value of Pmods in game. Yet again, you cannot win the argument so try and produce something on a more personal level to say.... look at me! Well, I am looking and you haven't made any real contribution. I know of an example, a person had a traumatic and could have been life threatening encounter on Runescape and again, this person concerned has passed on this information on as a warning to fellow players to keep people aware of the dangers of gaming trolls, although the retelling had differed greatly, it leaves me to wonder, if there had been an available PMod around, if his/her mod powers would not have used to fend off the attacks that were aimed to insult the the recipient and expose a real life threat. Yes, I am sitting here wondering why you now choose to voice a totally different tune when at the very beginning of this topic you only chose to push out the points of what you don't have and not actually say why they should or shouldn't be in game. So far your trumpet is sounding very loudly but what is coming out is making a lot of noise with very little sense. Stay with the topic, because so far I am listing examples and all you are doing is flapping around the subject supposedly on an intellectual level yet saying absolutely nothing. No wonder no one has quoted old post of yours in this topic. Again, we have Pmods in this game to help assist Jagex as it is obvious they are over flowed with new content and it is not easy for them to keep up with the amount of reports and Pmods are in game because of that reason, as I said in my previous post, a recent event took place in the penguin chat, again a chat you use, and a particular person had found a way around the chat filter, which face it isn't hard to do, and let it be known to all his thoughts. There was no key or gen to kick, its an open chat, so am I to again open up a space on my ignore list to fill it with someone I will never in all probability meet again in this game. I would prefer to see more Pmods and actually get one of them to mute this idiot than fill up a spot on my ignore list for someone.... shall we say... more important. If you wish to call them the police unit or neighborhood watch, that is up to you but regardless you do need someone in game as you do in society to be there as backup, this is an inter reactive community, if you don't want that, then remove all aspects for it to be such. I do not want that, my ignore list is full and mostly from spam bots only a few names stand out that I know should be there. The Report Abuse button fails because I don't think Jagex really has the time to sit and aimlessly go through pieces of evidence from random players as often as they would go through something sent in by a Pmod when it comes to an instant mute, the filter fails because you can find ways around it, I really think, as I have said previously, there needs to be more powers given in all probability along with requirements set out that must be adhered to to become a PMod, like I said, a lot that I know in game, never read the home page, etc., etc., that there should be a closer look at those that are abusing their Mod status in game and are being coerced by other players to do questionable mutes and a small amount of commonsense when it comes to making a judgement call. In response to Unicorn Horn with dealing with begging and it not being up to a PMod, I agree, please re read what I wrote as I was explaining why I do not actively engage in game with aiding or helping people most of the time, because of my experiences ending up being because of them begging. PMods as far as I am aware are in game to assist with inquiries or help etc., I was not suggesting that they be used for such pettiness. Another thought is that if in deed they do as you suggest and bring in more JMods into the game, then that would mean more staff which would suggest either they push more the SOF/Solomons items onto us or...... increase memberships, yeah I can now picture the amount of complaining that would bring about. Why do that when you have a wide expanse of players at your disposal. If anything, we need more of them in game. Now it's your turn, this time give me a reason other than quote and paste or the boohoo blah blah as to why they should be removed or how they are redundant to the game particularly when you use them yourself. I would also like to add, no way in hell would I take on the job of a PMod. Me thinks however, you would!
  15. Really? You need someone to protect you from the big bad bogey men on the Internets? That’s your reason why you think PMod’s aren’t redundant? FYI, there's a reason why there's an ignore feature and it works really well. Personally, I've found that it's done away with most of the trash in the game ... And I use it often, that is why the trash on the game is exactly where it should be..... and you missed the point totally again, like usual. The report system as it stands is redundant to say the least, Jagex does not always follow up on mutes and I find that it is amusing that you point out the ignore feature to me after numerous 'in game' encounters with players like yourself, that is why there is an ignore button, to remove that distaste from the game, but there are situations which call for something immediate, e.g. in penguin chat, this week in fact, a player was being extremely racist against a country's people and Canada Girl, who of course takes time to make the penguin locations available every week to players such as yourself, and the filter would not filter it out because there was no actual 'language' problem, but as you know, a player can get around this quite easily, I have done so myself so a 'police man', as you put it, is not what I am looking for. And since your opening response was complaining about what you couldn't do on the game, because of your own inabilities is quite astonishing, you brought in all aspects such as the HLF, completionist cape requirements or at least game content being focused more on the high end of Runescape and from all observations, Pmods were brought into it because again, it was something unavailable to yourself, yet I know of players, personally that have used other Pmods to promote their personal approval in the game and there fore trying to manipulate an outcome suitable for themselves rather that the good of the game. The reporting system fails on its own and the ignore list needs to be increased, in an ideal Runescape there would be no need for them, but this is not an ideal Runescape, it does not matter what argument you use as far as other players helping out other players, I know myself, I have closed my public chat off because of lower level players assuming because of the level of the other player, then automatically the 'begging' emote should be enforced. So then we have a classic 'put everyone on ignore, switch off the public chat and limit your interaction in game with other players', if that is the case then why not eliminate all forms of public chat? You cant do that because of the game itself. So in effect, what you are saying is remove all Pmods on a form of prejudicial grounds because some players may look up to them in game because they are in a position to stand out from the rest of the community, hmmmmm....and put faith in and just rely on the in game reporting system to eliminate all the trash from the game. I do not have the faith to only have one form offered in game. I speak from experience there. I find the comment laughable at the big bad bogeyman on the net, there are also big bad bogeywomen , perhaps you should enlighten yourself with the internet outside of this game, oh wait.. an example that comes to mind quite easily is that there is a large proportion of young impressionable players on this game and that anyone with children who allow them to play would also appreciate that there are promises to ensure that it is a safe environment, we all cant be as loud mouthed and obnoxious as myself on Runescape. It is not only the young player either, it goes right across the board as far as the age goes. Just a thought.... So now, apart from the usual copy and paste, give me one reason why you do not want them in game.
