Yeah I saw that corpse and searched it but didn't get book. What does the book do?

At the entrance to Stronghold of Security, there is a lady who says she is missing her husband/brother etc. and you reply that you will look out for him in the stronghold. I would like to know... does that lady have any purpose????? ie. can you find the guy? does it have a purpose or is it just some random thing put in the game to confused dimwitted people like me? Thanks guys and gals for your replies (if they are helpful), otherwise, i retract this statement.
