I've been running ToC for the past week now, trying to get the edge of ruin axe, but with no luck. Finally, today it drops, along with a lot of other awesome loot... And I lost the rolls on all of them to a stupid ret pally.
All of the below items dropped, and they're all very nice upgrades from what I have, and they all went to a ret pally. FML. (I'm an unholy DK btw)

Is anyone good with add-ons? I'm trying to get x-perl unit frames (mainly just for the cool looking frames), but when I installed it I got 50 errors, and my unit frame is gray with just a health and mana bar (no numbers, nothing. And I'm a dk, I don't even use mana).

Is anyone else experiencing some massive server lag? Last night it took like 3-4 minutes to create an auction. Anything like selling stuff to vendors/getting mail took forever -.-. And then whenever I logged out/logged back in, the loading bar would fill, then just sit there for like 5 minutes. Pretty annoying when I'm trying to get mounts on all my lvl 20+ chars.

I just saw Coldplay, on the Viva La Vida tour. I don't really like coldplay that much, but the show was amazing (A friend of mine had an extra lawn ticket that he sold me for 30 bucks).
The lights and everything were completely out of this world. On the song "Yellow", they released all these huge yellow ballons into the crowd, which was awesome, and they had confetti and everything. It was just amazingly choreographed.
We were on the lawn which was way in the back of the stadium (it was like an amphitheater kind of arrangement), and a couple of my other friends had seats up closer, which they were bragging about. Then, about halfway through the show, the band gets off stage, and then they emerge like 30 seconds later, on the little walkway before the lawn and then they walked up onto the lawn onto this little circular stage which was right near us. Basically everyone on the lawn sprinted to it (as did I), and when I got there we were 11 rows back from them. They di like 3 songs up there, it was awesome. They even did a cover of "Billy Jean". So ya, my friends wanted to kill me. it was fun. ;)
Without a doubt the best performance I've ever seen. If you don't like Coldplay, but have a chance to see them, do it. You will not regret it.

Well, if they used alching, they'd probably have around 10 hp (60 magic and 10 hp is 32 combat)... Which is an extremely easy 1 hit kill for most pures, especially obby maulers. I don't really see the point of that, they'd be killed pretty much instantly.
I'm sure there are a lot of people with corrupt weapons and they are definitely a threat. However I'm assuming they're a lot more expensive than a maul, although they do the same amount of damage. But, I'd choose the maulers high hp and lower cost over high cost for a corrupt weapon and lower hp.
As for the summoning tanks... They're interesting. They have quite substantial survivability, but not too much ko-ing power. (except for the chinchompa one, thats pretty good). They seem very very expensive though, so thats a bit of a drawback. And also I'm assuming they don't get too many fights, most pures don't fight tanks as a general rule (especially obby maulers). The DFS one didn't really have much to do with summoning (a lot of the time it looked like he didn't even have a familiar out), but thats the only plausible way to tank imo (using the DFS to ko). If you really want to shell out 25m or whatever for a DFS, then go for it, but thats not for me :P.
Like I've said before, theres different types of pkers, and I'm not saying that obby maulers are necessarily the best (although I like them quite a bit). It really depends on your style of pking. If you like having good ko-ing power, then obby maulers are good. If you like fast, small hits, then a pure ranger is good. If you like consistent medium damage, a regular 40 attack pure is good. If you like being able to survive a ton of people attacking you, then a tank.

I've got to say I don't like obby maulers
First summoning tanks have the advantage of you never hitting and giant chins blowing up/ familiars owning you (although these are even more of a train to level up).
Also the maulers have been outdated with the release of corrupt pvp weapons, a corrupt vls or spear will own the hell out of a mauler even if they are 15-20 str levels lower
Ranger pures pack alot of power with dragon stone bolts and dark bows and can hit higher than a obby mauler.
You have forgotten about mage pures. The people with 80 mage are at your level and can hit 20s/30s with charge and can bind you.
Admittedly obby pures have and advantage over normal 1 def pures who train attack but when you hit granite mail or claws level (or even if they pull out a corrupt pvp weapon) your advantages will start to lesson.
And your worst enemy is the super antipoison which sorta invalidates your pure.
So although im sure you plough through the rune scimmy noobs im not gonna go make one
Well I quit RS a little while ago, and I've never even seen/heard of a summoning tank before, so I don't really know how to address that.
As far as corrupt pvp weapons go, at lower levels they're probably going to be doing about the same amount of damage (or maybe a little less) as a maul will, because with attack the player will have much lower strength. They are quite a bit faster though, and more accurate so they definitely do have an advantage. However its not like you run into those in every fight, and they're quite expensive (a bit too expensive for most low level pkers I'd say.)
Mage pures aren't really a problem tbh. 80 mage and all 1 combat stats is 56 combat (assuming they trained mage with combat, which would give them 68 hp). 56 combat is quite a ways away from a regular obby maulers 32-33 combat. At 34 combat, a mage would have around 50 magic and 39 hp. I don't really know much about mages but I don't think they're going to be doing much damage at 50 magic.
Most of the things that you named are quite a bit higher level than the standard 32-33ish combat level obby pure. I've said before that obby pures really don't do too well at higher levels when you get into granite mauls, ddses, and people with defense. That said, at a higher level, many obby maulers choose to get 20 attack for the corrupt weapons, get 50 attack for the granite maul, or get defense and become an obby tank. Or just turn into a ddser. Obby maulers' are best at low levels.

I can't figure it out, about a month ago, back when I had no pvp gear or anything, and the only epics I had were [bleep]ed titansteel helm and the titansteel destroyer, I was getting like 2.3-2.5k dps. Now, with 2 pvp items, a lot more epics, the mirror of truth trinket, and an upgraded sigil, I'm struggling to get 2k dps. I was always unholy, and I haven't changed my talents around at all.
So does anyone have any ideas on talents? I would like to stay unholy, so if anyone has a good unholy dps spec that'd be sweet. Eventually I plan on getting dual spec for tanking, but thats a while in the future. Also any suggested gear I should be shooting for would be great as well. And another thing, I was in a heroic the other day, and it occured to me that I never really use unholy presence, I've always used blood presence. Which is better? Unholy is 15% faster, but blood is 15% more damage. Also with my talents, my runes cooldown 10% faster in UH presence.
I was also wondering about pvp gear. I was talking with some rl friends and they were saying that pvp gear is awful for pve. Is it really that bad? Should I be trying to get different gear to replace the pvp gear that I have now?
Hopefully someone can help :D

This is really amazing for me. I'm a huge sailor (I teach sailing at a local maritime school where I've been sailing at since I was around 8. I race 420 dinghy's for my high school sailing team, and I go to loads of regattas in the summer), and this is basically the mount everest of the sailing world.
The Volvo Ocean Race (Sailing race around the world on 70 foot yachts that are probably the most technologically advanced sailboats on the planet. However there's a crew. Awesome vid) made a stop in Boston, which is very close to where I live, so I went to see them a couple times during their 2 week visit. I got to see them leave, which was probably one of the coolest experiences of my life, seeing 6 (maybe 7, I don't remember) 70 foot boats starting at a starting line about 50 feet away from me.
But this is just crazy. I would kill to go on the Volvo Ocean Race, but I'm not sure if I'd want to go around alone, although the boats are really cool.

It's Simon O'brien, a flatland BMX rider. I actually found the video because I was looking for the song (amazing song btw, the name is in title). When I started to watch it I was just amazed. Some of it is really insane, like around 2:40. Any fan of biking should check this out, its absolutely ridiculous.

Even with 80,90 str your only level 50ish, and with inferior weaponry, and the fact they have to train at places like rock crabs, means most will probably quit before they are "high level", instead probably changing to a new type of pure.
This is true. To be honest, I've never gotten a mauler past 70 strength, it's just hell to train. Most maulers just switch to a granite mauler when they get past 70 strength or so. But if you stick with it until 90-99 strength, its pretty crazy.

If you can't protect items anymore then more are going to be disappearing from deaths, causing the price to go up. ...Right?

I agree. Why would you make your car fast and powerful when theres basically no need for it, unless you actually race or something... which I doubt.

I used to think that music on the radio was the actual band playing somewhere. I also remember going to a hockey game, and they played a beatles song for a bit (one of the only bands I knew at the time), and I started freaking out, trying to figure out where they were in the stadium. :lol:
I also never understood how TV works. Like, how it goes through the cables and how it actually makes a picture... Well, to be totally honest, I still have no idea how it works. Or any kind of screen for that matter. :?

Pantim it's obvious you have no experience with pking at low levels, let alone obby maulers. With 5 attack on one of my obby maulers I would estimate that i still hit people with 40 def about 1/2 the time. Thats a 35 level difference, 5 attack vs 20 defense would still hit a very consistent amount. Balanced players will always lose to pures, its simple fact, mains have tried and tried but they will never be a player with pking oriented stats. The only people who believe this are mains who have tried pking a couple times semi successfully. (Don't assume I said that all mains suck at pking, because ultimately its about 60% skill, but saying that balanced stats are better than pvp oriented stats is just ignorance.)
The high weapon stats of the obby maul help make up for the lack of attack a lot, not to mention will the help of a berserker necklace. Obby maulers can be dominant at any level if used correctly.
Btw, the argument you had for consistent damage means nothing. All pking relies on the ko to kill people, its not a death match. If it were a no running death match with both players safing, sure someone with defense would probably win. But those defense levels take away from their attack and strength levels, not allowing them to hit as high as needed for a successful ko. If you cant ko someone your not going to kill them, a balanced player will always lose to a pure, not to mention a pure with the koing power of the obby maul.

Wrong.
13 prayer would probably increase damage by 2-3, maybe 4. and 31 prayer would probably increase it by 3-4, maybe 5.
According to Tipit's max hit calc...
At 60 strength, max hit = 27.
With Superhuman strength, max hit = 29.
With Ultimate Strength, max hit = 30.
At 1 attack 60 strength and 1 defense, you're 32 combat.
With 13 prayer = 33 combat
With 31 prayer = 35 combat.
So basically you're getting 2 more damage for a combat level, and then another 1 damage for 2 combat levels. It's not really worth it, in my opinion, because keeping your combat low as an obby mauler is very nice, and 1-2 more damage isn't really going to affect you that much.
Sorry that I said "you can still only hit 27's", don't know why I put that there, I guess I just wasn't thinking.

I really like Danny's riding style. It's trials yes, but there's a huge amount of Bmx influence involved as well, making it a lot more interesting to watch.
This is pretty cool, Ryan Leech's part in Kranked 6, trials meet Mountain biking.
I agree, his riding style is very interesting to watch.
And I have the Kranked 6 DVD, 'tis awesome :D. I like how you can hear his breathing in that video lol, puts it into perspective how much he's concentrating and all.

I (am learning to) ride bicycle trials (For those of you that don't know, its a bit like BMX, but slower, more precise, and more about jumping onto/off of obstacles).
I have an old Monty (one of the first bike trials companies) which I picked up used off of craigslist for 50 bucks :). Then I found it had a crack in the fork and had to spend about 200 bucks getting a new fork and getting it all repaired, not to mention having it in the shop for about 3 weeks because the fork was actually the wrong size because the bike is so old. Theres 24" (stock) or 20" (mod or modified) bikes. I have a 24", which looks a bit like a mountain bike. Mod bikes look like an odd BMX bike. I'll try to get a pic of it.
For those that don't know what a trials bike looks like, heres an adamant stock trials bike (imo one of the best trials bikes around).

[/hide]As you can see the most obvious trait is that it doesn't have a seat. This allows for a lot easier movement when doing pedal kicks, hopping, and is easier to balance. A lot of trials bikes don't have any seat, or have a very small one (my bike has a tiny hard plastic thats about 4 inches long).
And just because I think they're awesome, heres some of my favorite trials videos.
Danny Macaskill- He has more of a faster and more flowing style of riding than most trials riders, and is heavily BMX influenced I would say. 3:10 is insane :shock:
Ryan Leech- Probably my biggest motivation to start trials riding, and my favorite rider. In my opinion, hes probably the best trials rider out there at the moment. He is a lot more of a "classic" trials rider, going slow and balancing a lot.
As of now, I'm mostly just hopping around. I can side hop up/down a couple staircases near where I live, and I can side-drop off of about a 3-4 foot ledge (parallel to the ledge, then hopping to the side off of it). 'Tis good fun :)

XP given from waterfall: 13,750 attack and 13750 strength
XP from level 60 to 61: 25,856
Assuming your 60 attack, waterfall won't give you any extra attack levels. You even have 12,106 more xp after you complete waterfall until lvl 61, which gives you room if you trained attack a bit by accident.
As far as strength, you should always have your strength maxed and if it levels you, then just go max it for your combat level (just use tipit's calc).
Shouldn't be that hard to figure out if it will mess up your stats or not, and if you want ghostly robes on your pure you might as well just do desert treasure, it really is nice to have on a pure.

Umm, I didn't dodge the question at all. I said that I'm not going to get evidence because the only way I could would be to go make a pure and test it out myself (which there is no way in hell I'm doing). And you keep giving me [cabbage] for not providing evidence, but you haven't provided a single peice of evidence yourself.
I would definatly go with the 40 attack on 1 def hitting 15 then 5 attack on 1 def hitting 20.Ok. Your opinion, go for it, and good luck getting a pker down to 15 hp so you can have a chance to ko them.
I want to note that wit Tip.It calc, the R/2h is only lvl 37. It can gain 6 levels of range before lvl 38. Also according to the calc those stats provided is level 38 for the mauler.Alright whatever, I just read it wrong. Sure, theoretically that can happen. But what are the chances that on the exact 30 second since you applied poison, you hit 2 quick 5s. Then they attack you, instead of eating. And about poison. You can't know if you poison them until you see the posion damage. Thats 30 seconds until you see that. If you do wait, then you are probably going to be almost out of food, as you claim how accurate and high damage range can do. If you just go for the kill, then you don't know if they are posioned. Counting on it is folly.
Alright, you clearly just don't get it. OBVIOUSLY I'm not counting on the poison. OBVIOUSLY I'm not sitting there counting down the seconds until the poison hits. I'm just saying, for example, they're at 28 hp (perfectly safe from a maul hit so they just keep going), and then a poison hits for 6. Now, most people just aren't going to react quick enough, and most are just going to try to get 1 more hit in and then eat. Or, if they're those "safing is for idiots" people, then they just won't eat because they think they're cool. Anyways, instantly its down to 22 hp, and you have a good chance of a ko. (Of course you're assuming that you're going to hit 0's every time, so in your case I suppose not.) And what is this "claiming how accurate and high damage range you can do"? If you have 45+ ranged, you'll probably be doing pretty decent damage with ranged. Sure, you're not hitting constant 10's, but constant 3-5 hits is certainly not uncommon.
Do you know what attack and defense levels do? Attack increases your chance to hit. Defense decreases the chance to hit. A low defense does not, in any way, make it easier for you to hit. It simply does not make it harder. In any case 40 Attack>5 Attack. I've made a defense pure with 5 attack. I know how accurate it is.Answer:

Most PKers at lvl 30 have defense. Your claim of 5% of lvl 30s being "balanced" is complete and utter BS. I WILL go to any PK world hotspot with you. and we can see how many are balanced and how many are pures.I would love to. I'm sorry, but have you actually read my posts? I have posted stats, factual details about weapons, real scenarios, etc. Until this post your response was all theorteical or outright lying.
You gave 2 stats (both basically wrong, hitpoints way off, and a balanced pker which no obby mauler in their right mind would ever fight), and besides that I see nothing about weapons at all, and no scenarios. I posted a hell of a lot more about weapons (crush attack/slash attack and max hits), accurate stats (srry for the little confusion on those recent stats, I must have just read the calculator wrong), and many scenarios about poison etc. And your posts have also been all theoretical and outright lying, so stop trying to pull that card on me.
Look, I'm done with this. If you really want to continue this pm me, and I'd rather you don't fill up my thread with flames. The best advice I can give you is to just go make an obby mauler yourself (probably not going to happen based on what you've said), and try it out. You will find that a lot of the things you have been saying about obby maulers are very untrue. And this is a guide. No ones telling you that you have to make a mauler, this is just out there for people to try. If you really feel so against them, then you might as well just leave. They are a certain type of pure, and obviously there are some pro's and some con's.
