  1. Interesting article, I enjoyed reading it but I don't entirely agree.

Firstly that you're definition of a pure includes that the HP is higher than the pure's combat level. While this is achievable at lower levels there reaches a certain point where this is no longer possible (in P2P this point is around level 75 combat, from my experience).

Next, is you're stance on defense. A 1 defense pure is a force to be reconded with, but at high combat levels I, on my main at least, would far rather far rather fight a 1 defense pure than a 45 defense 'pure'.

Also, you didn't talk about the naming of pures. One of the largest aspects of a pure is the name. Look at any popular pure--they don't have 'normal' names. Kid Ranq or Defil3d to name two of the most popular. Their names are not your 'standard' names.

Finally I thought it was funny that you added a pure 'Etiquette'. In reality there are very few pures that ever do this.

    Etiquette of Pures

Pures actually do have etiquette that they follow during and after combat. The following are common rules followed by true pures:

Wish the opponent Gl before every fight as a large portion of the fight is luck

After either player has died, both players say Gf to express they enjoyed it

Always ask before starting a fight

Always give your opponent enough time to get ready (pots, Prayer, etc.)

    NEVER PJ OTHERS

No protection of itemsall pures need to make a living; if you cant, then a pure is not the right thing for you

    No protection Prayers during fights

Redo fights if your opponent loses connection or lags outtruly good pures would be able to win again

Never trash talk your opponent, whether he is superior or inferior

The Ten Commandments of a Pure

The following are ten rules pures should always follow; some may be a repetition of etiquette.

    1. Always stay true to your idealnever raise Defence

    2. NEVER PJ others

    3. Never trash talk others, whether they are superior or inferior

    4. Always ask before fighting; give enough preparation time

    5. Never pick on lower leveled players

    6. Admit defeat when it comesnobody is perfect

    7. Always respect other pures: the uniqueness of pures is why the pure community thrives

    8. Help guide other pures in need of assistance

    9. Never quit due to stupid updatesthe good always comes after the storm

    10. Never commit an act that brings shame to the PURE community

So on the whole I very much enjoyed reading this, and your definition of a pure is good for lower levels, there comes a point where it fails. 9/10 =D>

  2. I did the haunted mine quest a while back (eer......3 years  ) and lost my salve ammy awhile back. So now that I want to get another (or very many more) I'm having troubles gettin back down into the bottom of the mine to get more. Using the quest guide hasn't helped much, any advice, or has anyone else done it and knows what to do?

    Thanks in advance.

  3. Buying only 5k at a time wouldn't work very well; the GE calculates price increase based on volume sold as well as what percent over (or under), on average, that item is bought for. So for it work ideally you would need to buy more. If you had lots of cash to spend on this you could buy, say, every single ball of wool on the GE then sell all of them for a hugely inflated price (however, I wouldn't recommend this).

On the topic of the original post:

Price manipulation is fun, however I would expect this type of thing to be shot down by Jagex very soon.

  4. Using this for non-slayer training is viable too. Void stacks with the berserker necklace (tip.it max hit calc incorrectly shows that it doesn't), meaning that the negative accuracy is negated by the +10% attack (if not negated then very nearly so), in edition to adding another 10% damage, bringing your damage up to +30% dmg each hit.

  5. Out of curiosity, does the obby necklace bonus stack with void melee bonus? I was thinking that this sort of setup would work well in FoG, where the hunter's defence doesn't really matter. Plus, I'm kinda too lazy to do monkey madness.

Also, how reliable is the accuracy? I want to be reasonably confident that my next attack won't be a "0". Assume that I want to go PvP.

How fast is the obby sword and the obby mace? Just compare it to the whip or the dragon dagger.

I was wondering if it worked with void too, guess I'll do some tests....

Edit: After initial testing the mace beats the sword by a long shot.

Testing in Void, Potting, with a Bersker Necklace with Obby Mace, and a rune defender; so far I'm two-hitting yaks for more frequently than with a whip using the same set up.

Not to mention that the mace lets you train all three combat stats on crush.

  6. Personally, I think the problem may be that RuneScape has to many players. :? So many nonmembers are playing, and producing goods that members buy for very low prices, then turn around and make a least some profit from them, and to compete members must lower their prices also. If RuneScape had fewer players, less people would be pumping out raw resources, and prices for raw resources would increase. I'm NOT saying that we need to get rid of a lot of players somehow, but I do think that this is a major reason for the decrease in prices. I think a good solution would be a new skill that costs a lot of money, like construction, to drain enough money to cause some inflation, because without it, the economy is going down the tubes :|

Most players today can't imagine what it was like to be a rune miner with only 2 rune rocks and a total of 9 worlds to hop to. You think competition for raw materials is hard now? you don't know what real competition is. Every resource in RS is hundreds of times easier to collect because of hundreds of worlds and dozens of added areas with theose resources.

    You're completely right.
