  1. From what I hear he's also a Bruno Mars wannabe.. at least in terms of fashion
  2. I'm kinda lucky in that I dont think money will ever be much of a concern for me. I don't have expensive tastes. I just don't buy things... For example, I've had the money to buy pretty much anything i want for nearly a year now, and I haven't even spent it. I've bought a few things here and there, like Portal 2 and a new flash drive, but I'm not buying assloads of video games, I haven't bought a fancy tv, indeed i haven't really bought anything at all. So I figure given how I simply don't spend much money, I'll be able to live comfortably and happily on less money
  3. Oh! I like the allowance idea better than my idea. It means you have to spend just a little or you'll run out and be unable to make secret selfish purchases.
  4. so rachael is it your idea that the money in the separate accounts be money that they had saved up independently? Because I thought that the money would just transfer from the main account to the secondary accounts as needed. Like they agreed to have $5000 in each of their separate accounts, and at the start of each month, they fill it back up to 5000 if they spent any.
  5. I was raised to treat credit cards like debit cards so I never use it when I don't has the money to pay for it straight away.
  6. I was talking with silva a bit about the ramifications of joint accounts... I think it was on her forums. She said that a married couple should have a main joint account, but then they each have their own accounts with a couple thousand dollars in them. I always thought that was a great way of sharing the lion's share of your expenses but still retaining a bit of financial independence.
  7. Well, yeah, that might be true, but with the caase at hand, wits has never been a "person" at all. what have i been then? Good question... Also at emily, when I lent the 400 bucks to my roomate, I didn't really need to know when he would pay it back. In fact, I wasn't sure if he'd ever pay it back. but he was a nice guy and I was willing to take that risk. I've always had that general opinion... they can pay it back whenever they want, and even not at all. In that respect, when I lend money, its a gift mostly... with the option of paying back. My roomate still hasn't paid me back, but they still swear they will one day.
  8. Its awful that he never paid for anything, and its perfectly reasonable for you to expect your future boyfriends to pay for things half of the time, especially when its expenses you share, like eating out. I don't think anyone was arguing that it should be any other way! This is mostly about personal expense.. like paying for his bills or buying him a new computer
  9. if you're in a mature, stable relationship, its my opinion that you shouldn't be squeamish about giving or taking money. You're no longer two people, you're a team, facing life together! Its totally fine to tranfer funds to your teammate....
  10. yeah that's true. would write a check... or just pay the bills for her. Also one time I lent 400 bucks to my roommate because he desperately needed help for the first month of rent. I payed him cash, which, as you say... was a little awkward.
  11. If your girlfriend gets fired and can't pay her rent/bills whatever... I think its fine for you to help her out if you can spare the money. The reason being... while she could move in with you and you'd save monies, that's a big step in your relationship and it shouldn't be made out of necessity. It should be a choice! So therefore, paying for your girlfriend's rent is not always a case of her mooching off of you... even though it could seem that way
  12. its pretty simple for me actually... barring any circumstances of dire need, the two people should pay close to 50% of their shared expenses, and none of their mate's personal expense. For example, you shouldn't be paying for half your girlfriend's rent unless she desperately needs the help. Likewise, don't expect your girlfriend to chip in for your education
  13. when i had an ipod, I had it turned to the lowest possible and it was still too loud for me
  14. I guess it is. It just kinda grosses me out.
  15. My roommate says that the OP of dexter is the best OP ever made, that its brilliant. The one where he's getting ready in the morning, shaving making breakfast etc. I say its gross, but he says that's the whole point
  16. Downloading stuff isn't scary if you know what you're doing.
  17. i dislike watching things streamed. I always download them if i have a choice.
  18. Good lord why? You'd spend a fortune on gas and supplies, that interior would be impossible to clean, and, all things considered, you'll hardly be in there at all better to have gray oatmeal everynight. right pisco? Well, gray oatmeal and owning this car is not mutually exclusive. You could enjoy gray oatmeal in this car. Regardless of that, its still a phenomenal waste of money i love how you don't specifically mention EATING gray oatmeal... lolololol Well, what else would you do with gray oatmeal?
