Shark Cooking
We've had a 22 healing food for a long time, manta ray. The new potatoes aren't going to take over the market anymore than mantas did, simply because it's far too much trouble to get large amounts of them. In any case, my goal has no real basis in practicality, and just has to do with wanting to best my friend and get a 99 skill >_>

Shark Cooking
Heh, this brings back memories of the debate about a year or so back on whether or not it was possible to level past 99 despite the fact that it didn't actually show a tangible level up. I don't remember if that actually came to anything, but obviously this sort of thing is difficult to prove in any manner as the difference, if any, is so slight that it takes a massive amount of trials to really lead to anything. On another note, I do remember either the Lumbridge cook saying or the quest completion scroll indicating that the range in Lumbridge castle burned food less. At least I think this is the case, I did the quest on a new character of mine a few weeks ago; I did the quest ~3 years ago on RS1 on my main and I remember no such dialogue, but it was so long ago that I could be mistaken.

Shark Cooking
It's possible, but it just seems to me very unlikely. I've talked to two of my friends, and both said they didn't burn any at 94. That makes ~11k sharks cooked without burning. I've also talked to some people in Rogue's Den who have >94 cooking and the consensus has been unanimous that 94 is no burn. As for the cooking gaunts issue, yes at 99 cooking you still burn sharks without the gaunts on. I believe they give you a +10 cooking level bonus (at least that's what Tip.It's cooking guide indicates, and I do know I stopped burning lobs at 65 with gaunts, 75 without) on tuna, lobster, swordfish, and shark, which is why it's possible to never burn shark with them on.

Shark Cooking
I would've done it, but I never did any cooking on a large scale until now.

Shark Cooking
99 cooking has been a goal of mine ever since my rl friend Whoadystu got it back on RS1 with 93 combat. Lately I've finally decided to move upon that goal, and I thought it would be interesting to just keep track of how everything went along the way. Mainly I was just curious to see how much each additional level in cooking would help in terms of burn rates. These are my results. All cooking was done in Rogue's Den with cooking gauntlets. Note that I'm not saying these are the actual rates, they're simply what success I had. Though I will say that I believe that the cooking guide here on Tip.It is incorrect, as it labels 95 as the no-burn level for sharks with cooking gauntlets. For me it was obviously 94, and another one of my friends who recently went for 99 cooking also said he didn't burn at at 94. I don't have 99 yet, but seeing as I don't burn anymore there's no reason to keep a log any longer so I'm done with that aspect.

Too Much or Too Little?
I'm obsessive compulsive, so MMORPGs really don't suit me well. Over the years I've quit Runescape several times, either do to boredom or simply because there were too many updates and I couldn't keep up. Slayer's release annoyed me, and when I heard farming was released during some time I was taking off it totally destroyed any desire to return to the game (I ended up being away for RS for a good 6 months). The game as it is has many problems. I totally agree with most of the things said, and I would really like Jagex to focus on current issues instead of making small and pointless updates every week. How many more quests with endless plotholes do they plan on releasing? The graphics overhaul they started was nice, I'd rather them take a couple of months to redo all of RS. Many skills have problems, how about expanding worthless ones like firemaking? There are many better things to be done out there than rushing an update every week.

Your thoughts on wands?
Well, I'm in my Junior year of HS, currently taking AP Calculus BC, and considering majoring in math, but I read more than anybody else I know. Does that mean that ultimately I'm not going to major in math? >_> your hope of a math major is the integral from 0 to 2pi of -sin(x)dx (worst. joke. ever. i seriously pwn you all in geekage. and so does calculus BC) anyways, don't feel bad, i read books too. lots of fun. and who needs to stay on topic when we can tell each other corny calculus jokes  and to add some purpose to my post: i did a test to see if wands are faster at all. i used teacher wand (still working on master wand) and equipped armor, having total magic bonus of -66. tested for one minute, and had a total of 20 casts. did the same thing using the ancient staff and had the exact same results. so as far as i can tell, unless the master wand is different, they're the same speed. I am more geeky :x 16 years old in Thermo and Numerical analysis? Summer I'm going to Cornell for Nanotechnology research and whatnot. Glad to meet some fellows. (What do you get when you cross an elephant... with a banana? (Elephant)(Banana)(Sin(Theta)) in a direction mutually perpendicular to elephant and banana in the direction as dictated by the "i j k i j k" Rule. ) However, on topic, master wand is +20 +20 so its the best ingame for mage staking. I would just be afraid that I wouldn't click at the right time and I would end up casting too slowly. and miss some opportunities to shoot. Want to take PDJ off ur friends list and add me Odd? Heh, well you don't even have to totally integrate to solve that, after all 0 to 2pi is a single complete period of cosine, so naturally it's 0 >_> In any case, it's nice to see that there are other people on RS who are concerned less with being e-thugs and actually take an active interest in some sort of academics in the real world. Over the weekend while I was at the waterfall I literally listened to two guys argue for a good half hour over who was a bigger nerd. One person said he was 14 years old and proceeded to continuously insult the other person for being a virgin. I figured the wands would be like a castle war armor sort of thing, only good for novelty purposes, but if there's a 1-handed +20 wand, then they might not be so near pointless. Then again, I can't stand the angst of PvP, so when I go off to fire magic spells at NPCs I'll still take the convenience of autocasting over more accuracy.

Does that mean that ultimately I'm not going to major in math? >_> This update came out while my midterms were going on, and I was away from RS for 3 weeks. I haven't even been to the mage training place yet, so I really have nothing of value to input. I guess the general idea of wands is good? It seems like something really obvious, now that I think of it I'm actually quite surprised they weren't put in earlier, even before staves.

Guide for cheap firemaking xp
85? I thought the last new purpose of firemaking was at 80, magic pyre logs. In any case, this seems like a really good method for people who actually want to raise their firemaking. For me it's more of cutting willows for XP, and instead of selling them for pointless sums of cash I'd rather just burn them for a couple of levels added on to the skill total.
