  1. Are people here new to the internet or something?

Or does playing this game make one dumber by the minute?

Referral programs exist everywhere on the internet and I never thought I would see the day, where a community gets its panties all tied up in a knot, over something like a referral program, or an insignificant weapon (Katana) being introduced.

The bonuses are an obvious incentive to ensure the referral program is used by some and if you, dear reader, get uptight because somebody is gaining 10% more exp but at the same time paying for it, you need to take good long look at yourself.

Referral programs are nothing new, and using them is a legitmate way to expand a site's userbase. But a referral program that blatantly states that you can "refer" yourself (thus does not really attract new users), and is so easily abused IS something new.

  2. Just out of interest, did anybody actually decide to put the void leech down? I didn't have the heart to do it, even if it was crippled.

P.S. Is it me, or are these plots getting darker?

Interesting, I decided to kill it because it was so badly crippled and I thought of it as mercy killing.

  3. Okay I'm not understanding something..I can keep Heat & Power under control..I'm just not sure what to do when Stability gets out of whack or what to add to the machine at what time..

At the upper right corner is a table showing all the reactions. For example if you need to change chemical A into chemical C, and the table shows A + B -> C, you just need to add some chemical B into the hopper.

  4. The only ones that I'm sure have beomce easier are hunter and herblore. I remember the frequency of hunter rocks was upped in a patch notes or "in other news". And herblore is easier for the fact that you can now get them from cleaning herbs.

  5. I have been unable to load RS2 on this computer since the update on 1/6, it always stops at "checking for updates" without progress for hours. I can access RSC, though.

    My computer's specs are:

Operating system: Windows Vista service pack 2

    Java version: 1.6 update 20

    Processor speed: 2.20 GHz

    Amount of RAM: 2.0 GB

    Web browser: Firefox 3.6.3

    Internet Connection: ASDL

What I have tried to fix the problem and didnt work:

    1. Clearing browser cache, deleting the jagex cache folder and restarting the computer

    2. Using IE/Chrome/RS downloadable client

    3. Uninstalling Java and Firefox, reinstall Java and then Firefox

    4. Uninstalling Java and Firefox, reinstall Firefox and then Java

    5. Adding port exceptions (43594 and 43595) to Windows Firewall

    6. Temporarily turning off Windows Firewall

    7. Using older versions of Firefox (tried multiple versions 3.5+) and Java (tried multiple versions 1.6 update 10+), and the versions that did work on another computer.

Scanning the computer with AVG, Spybot S&D and Microsoft Security Essentials didnt find anything suspicious. What did work was using an older computer with Firefox 2, Java 1.5 and the same connection, it finished loading within a couple of minutes. I have run out of ideas how to play on the newer computer, so Im seeking help from people with better technological knowledge here. Thanks for your kind attention.

  6. Doing the puzzle once is fine, but repeating part of it for every bar is just an unnecessary pain in the [wagon]. And I'm really disappointed with the reward. A few hours spent on the quest to unlock that piece of [cabbage] that I'll never wear? And I better waste a bank space to store it in case it's needed for a future quest/diary/slayer monster/whatever.

  7. I doubt it, with current money making methods without merching. It is possible to make 300m/month with only roughly 3-5 hrs of gameplay each day. 2.14bil can be thus reached in 7 month from a bank with 0gp worth. The stats required to do this is just Soloing GWD/TDs/DKs and/or teaming Corp. We know lvl 110s with a decent mage level can solo DKs. So if this was to keep up, what's to say that in 7 month from now, not every lvl 110+ would have max cash value banks? I'm pretty positive you can make more than 300m/month also with a good enough capital while merching as well. The 110- combat population might be slower, but they skill have PvP, Barrows, Nature Running, amongst other methods to make money at a constant 1m/hr. That is still 90m/month at 3 hrs of playing time each day. Even in F2P, with GOP 5050s you make (Sorry been away from that minigame too long. Sees_All1, if you see this help me correct if I'm wrong) 450k/hr with a lvl 3 account while being practically afk. So F2P Players can make a potential 45m/month at 3 hrs of game time each day. At this rate, you're looking at the RS population reaching maxxed cash without using the most efficient methods in roughly 2 years? What do you do then?

How many players actually grind their money making ways for months on end? Most people will get bored of doing the same thing over and over again, be it training skills, making money or even monster hunting. So it's unlikely anyone will get a maxed cash pile in the time period you stated. I'm sure most players won't even get remotely near one maxed pile of cash ever (unless Jagex screws up and makes a way to create large amounts of gp out of nowhere).

  8. Soloing is definitely possible, but it can get quite boring. So far I'm level 20 and I have only done a two-floor duo run when I ran into a friend. This "skill" is pretty fun to do once in a while, but it isn't without flaws:

    1. I know the difficulty should be scaled to the player's levels so that high levels can still find some challenges, but it is scaled too much IMO. You have 99 firemaking? They give you a level 100+ firemaking obstacle to overcome. You have max combat? The monsters will simply get tougher. This is very random, though. I've seen level 3 monsters sharing the same room with a level 90+.

    2. During the duo run I found the skilling parts biased too much towards the higher level player. I have 2300+ total and my friend has 1500+, not very high, but definitely not noobish. Yet he couldn't skill because all the resources were too high leveled and had to rely on me for supplies. He didn't have too much fun since he could only join the combat parts, and I felt it was more babysitting than cooperating.

  9. First article:

The only thing that I agree with the author is that polls are underused. They used to be updated weekly, but now it takes up to a month(maybe more) for a new poll.

However, I hope the bronze crown idea is no more than a joke. The author suggested giving this rank to clan leaders, active forum posters, and other public figures. First, clan leaders are not elected by democractic process, pretty much all clan founders are leaders by default, how well they represent their clanmates opinions is doubtful. Yes, people can leave the clan if they don't agree with the leadership, but does Jagex has any means to find out the current size of a clan? Also, clans aren't created by people having the same ideology like political parties in real life. Most clans are based on the common interest in certain activities like pking, skilling or minigames...er I mean activities. If you ask the members of a pking clan about their opinions on say, Fish Flingers, the results will likely be as varied as when you ask a random group of people. Becasue of this, I'm not sure clan leaders are good representatives of the general player base, not to metion that many players(myself included) do not belong to any clans to begin with.

How about active forum posters then? They are already the most vocal people out of the entire player base, and I'm sure Jagex is more likely to check their forum threads for opinions, do they need even more posting privileges? We also need to remember post counts doesn't reflect on the quality of their posts, just their wilingness to post on the forums. Heck, even the total number of posts in the threads they create can't be used as a gauge of quality. I can make a thread called "pker sux, remove pking now" and get a few pages of "stfu" and "gtfo" in a matter of minutes, does this make it a good thread? Now that both post count and thread lengths fail to be good objective measures of good posters, it's all down to the quality of their posts, which can be highly subjective. If Jagex handpicks the forum posters based on "quality of posts", what's there to stop them picking all those THEY like to listen to instead of those representing reason and intelligence?

Other public figures, can the author give us a few examples? Just look at how stupid real life celebrities can be, I'm not sure their Runescape counterparts are any better.

    Second article:

I don't have much time left before I need to go to work, so I have to keep it short: Don't compare yourself to others on the hiscores if you don't want to be competitive.

  10. But there are other silly, no-skill ways, like the fruitbat papaya way.It doesn't take an awefull longtime to gather charms & reach the required level. But every day I see guys in edgeville doing this. I heard over 500k/hr...That's just insane for not doing anything special and not gaining XP.

The main reason fruit-falling earns so much is that most people prefer not to do it. I'd happily pay the price of papayas if it means I can skip this mindless and boring process. Also, when enough people are doing this, the price would likely drop due to increased supply, and things will eventually be balanced out.(If price ceiling/floor don't come into play, that is)

  11. What is the best way to get the construction stones? Since they don't show up when you are in building mode.

Since my house is in Yanille, which is reasonably close to a bank, I always get my cooking rocks in my own house while waiting for the construction ones to spawn. By the time I get both cooking rocks, I usually have at least 1 construction rock. After that I'll stay in the house and play with my pets.

  12. I'm quite surprised to see that no one has mentioned this yet. The Fremmy achievement diary requirement is completely arbitrary, I can't find a single task that is needed to be done for the quest.

he asked me to go get my sea boots, and then come with him. I guess that is where the diary comes in.

Well, that connection is rather weak. I think it only means "get yourself ready" since we don't need to literally wear the sea boots.(I didn't wear them once throughout the whole quest.)
