Final comments on the matter: Banning anything related to stargate would just be sci-fi rasism, logic should deside, not other players hatred against the shows. Archi, Star Trek is 28 years older than StarGate, using amount of awards in ful numbers is an unfair comparison, in awards per year StarGate would have 2.1 awards and 13.1 nominations for SG-1, 3.8 awards and 12 nominations for SGA and 2 awards and 28 nominations for SGU, a total of 7.9 awards and 53.1 nominations per year. I'm pretty sure that beats Star Trek but I can't find an article on it's awards/nominations. As I said it is the final comment, anyone wishing to further this will have to do so by PM.

I can see why a lot of people here hate it and translate it to a single sentance: Archi, you're a trekkie, and the rest of you are either not interested in space sci-fi or just not caring to speak up. Also thank you Hex, I almost can't believe you're the most open-minded here. Now any more coments about how stargate sucks will be responded to by evidence that those who know sci-fi disagrees with you.

Archi, there was no actual proof of sex happening in SG-1, only a pregnancy/child in SGA and the first sex-scene apeared in the completely new (seriously, it's at episode 15) SGU. Also using old religions and the event of the little gray aliens supposedly landing somewhere in the US is not challenging beliefs? And SG-1/AR-1 only destroy empires who enslave/destroy other peoples for their own sake. [spoiler='Empires that have been/are being destroyed] Goa'uld - Parasitic rase that enslaved humans and jaffa. Replicators - Robot "bugs" that eat technology, not caring if they destroy living beings while doing so. The Ori - Ascended beings that rule other rases by posing as gods, destroying anyone who refuses to join their religion, Origin. Wraith - Humanoids evolved from bugs, they feed of humans' life force and make sure to keep any rase beneath any level of technology that can resist them. Asurans - Nanite androids that were made to fight the Wraith, after a while they realized the best way would be to eliminate their food source; humans. Also defeated: The Eurondans - A branch of humans with Nazi intentions; to destroy any group of people not like their own. Now, I've seen some episodes (around 20 or so) of Star Trek and found it as interesting in comparison to StarGate as Silmarilion in comparison to LotR, I sugguest you try to actually watch some episodes og SG-1 and SGA so you not only base things through the view of what con-biased people have written on the internet.

Actually it mentions some of it's "pitfalls" as to make it more entertaining. Try watching it, I'm sure at least some of you would like it. I don't want to use the goa'uld, I want to fight them. Also they can be killed by snapping their necks easiley, or just squishing them with your hand.

StarGate is much more meeting challange than Star Trek, SG-1 build it up from the start, and in SGA they almost never have sufficient power. The two persons using a depository of knowledge without limits both ended in a near-death situation, the first (who has done it twice) would have died both times had it not been for the alien he got the knowledge to dial the first time. As for drones I do know that they would require a lot of research to make, but there are auto-seeking missiles today, and we have weapons that can breech through buildings today, why not make the shell thicker to allow it to do it multiple times? They can be charged as they are fired and possibly emmit powerful microwaves to melt matter. Also the amount of weapons fired is proportional to each ship's capability, a fighter can use two, a mothership 20 and a city-sized military outpost 200, not too unfair? Also "OP" toxin against "OP" race ~ Ok?

The early repository of knowledge was so... dangerous I wouldn't even considder it, any chair would be solely for the pourpose of controling a ship's systems. Drone weapons. Lifesigns detector. And with gateships I mean small, fighter-like things capable of entering a 6.7 meter stargate.

Meh, tok'ra? Wouldn't be any if there was no Ra, to be tok(against), either way I'd spare you of them. Also the tok'ra were the ones who developed the toxin, but thing is it is instantaniously lethal to symbionts and their hosts, like cyanide, there'd be no time for a vaccine. But why are chairs disallowed? They only work as a neural cotrol interface, unless you're talking about the early repository of knowledge, from the Destiny. And with wall sockets I presume you mean repositories of knowledge, which are useless unless made by a more advanced race. Just checking; are drones, particle magnums, lifesign detectors and gateships (Puddle Jumpers and/or Needle Threaders) allowed?

Also I said I would have enjoyed fighting them, I didn't tell you to make them. A low numbered race that cannot survive outside of water unless inside another creature, it heals the creature it's in while itself being unaffected by radiation, most toxins, viruses and diseaces. They often pose as gods so much they start believing it themselves. They also have genetic memory, which contains both the knowledge of their ancestors as well as their evils. The goa'uld themselves cannot take much damage and could easily be killed by hand. Also there is a specific poison of which trace amounts are lethal to them, though no one bothered to look up their weaknesses. I would actually enjoy fighting the goa'uld here, and stealing their tech and ships.

The way teleportation would work is like this. Spock walks in. Spock says 'beam me up scotty' Spock is disassembled and placed as a file. The file is sent somewhere as quick as possible. Spock is reassembled. Eitherway, a stargate and a transporter work in the same way, but are both in fiction, both would work well but none would work isntantly. Beaming is transmitting the matter in the form of energy without dissasembly, stargates dissasembles down to atoms, sends it through a wormhole along with an energy pattern that tells how it shall be reassembled. Example, if a beam is directed to a wall it puts the object inside it, if the stargate is put against the wall the atoms would not be able to reassemble. This is important due to gate obstructions likely becoming important.

Those only work over short distances, like ground to orbit, not star to star.

But if travelers are wished prevented one can simply block the gate by putting a barrier a few micrometers away from the event horizon to prevent the object/person from reforming, or at the event horizon to block wormholes entirely.

I'm not telling you to change the map, only saying that the addresses are simply 6-point grid coordinates with the possibillity for trans-network, and gate specific symbols before the point of origin which always comes last. Maybe the stargate wiki will explain it more understandably:
