  1. First off, just wanted to say, very nice thread! You've got a ton of awesome stuff here.

Anyhow, I was wondering if anyone else who has completed WGS has checked if Wizard Elriss says anything new about the Stone Of Jas that might shed more light on the subject. I've heard she tells you a bit about it if you charm her - if you have a high enough RC level, which, unfortunately, I do not. This might be a dead end, but it's worth a look.

  2. Digressing back to the original topic for a second (gasp!) didn't the OP say the requirement was: "3500 square units, it needs to be 1 to 1 1/2 times as long, then it is tall."? If so, he could simply use a 50 by 70 rectangle. (If it does have to be 1 by 1.5 proportions, then it is ~48.3 by ~72.457 units).

Back off topic :P . I agree 100% with N0M_AN0R, but I would like to add that chocolate mixed with caramel can be pretty good too. (Only one exception to this I can remember, which was a tin of caramel stuff we were sent by some friends visiting India that got delayed five months in transit :P ).

  3. As usual, excellent work. It was well written, and I agreed with the great majority of the analyses you gave (a somewhat unusual stance for me in regards to your opinion-based articles :P ). I'm also glad to see that time for consideration has helped moderate the rather harsh views that it feels like you greet every other update with :P .

You will notice that yesterday I sent you an e-mail through your site, regarding a correction with the times you cite for growing Jade Vines (somehow I neglected to realize that you would post a discussion here too, like you always do #-o ). Basically, the gist of it comes down to:

Jade Vines need 16-20 (~18) hours to grow from a seed to the "check-health" state.

Jade Vines need 3-4 hours to grow from the "check-health" state to the wild state.

The sum of these times is under 24 hours, and so you can grow, kill, and replant your vine daily.

I have proofs for these, but I'm too lazy to retype them here as well :P . If you need to check yourself, though, it's not a particularly tough test.

Having read the rest of your article by now, I would also like to comment on a few other aspects of it too, but I don't currently have the time. Hopefully I'll get my trebuchet to work right fast enough that I can do so today (physics class projects are awesome :) ).

Keep up the good work :) .

  4. In the sense of gifts intended especially for me, everything I got was excellent :) . However, my extended family also held a white elephant gift exchange, which filled the "useless" catergory perfectly :P . (For those of you who don't know, a white elephant gift exchange is where everyone wraps up a random item or two lying around in their house, then puts it in a central pile and gets another gift from the stack). This year's received gifts were a set of disks used for buffing commercial aircraft and a box of used lightbulbs :P .

  5. Here's what I did for my egg drop project:

    •
[*:3hoi0gwh]Hollow out a foam sphere (not sure of the dimensions, I think it was about 5 cm in diameter) just enough that the egg fit exactly inside.

[*:3hoi0gwh]Place the egg in the sphere and tape it shut.

[*:3hoi0gwh]Put the sphere in a bag of oatmeal (I used about 1500 mL for a similar drop, but that was way more than I needed - half of that would have probably sufficed).

If you can, try to weaken the bag before the drop (I made my own out of plastic wrap, to ensure it would be weak). If the bag breaks when it hits the ground, all of the contents scatter out, which helps reduce the impact.

I concede that this isn't a lightweight project, but it's surprisingly effective at protecting the egg. It's also really simple to make (it takes about 5-10 minutes, depending on how quickly you hollow out the foam sphere). Maybe you could use it if you need a project the night before the drop. :P

Remember, whatever project you do, thouroughly test it before the drop!

  6. Wrong forum. :P

Yes, I have noticed something similar to this happening. I was duelling someone and I hit them for ~10, and they died with half of their health bar left. It only happened once though, so I don't really know anything about it.

  7. I still have 7 pairs of rune boots at 85.5k ea on the GE ;\ if lowest u can sell now is 170k, why didnt my boots sell out ? weird :ohnoes:
Unless you need the cash quick, I'd advise taking them out and relisting them for the higher price. (Actually, now that I think about it, I'm not even sure whether you can do that, I just don't know enough about the GE yet)
before the GE I usually sold rune boots at 80k ea and d boots 400k, so in this case 85.5 ea is good. Since I dont belive ppl will pay anything over 100k for them its not worth getting out of the cycle now, maybe I'm next in the selling list.

I just hope that i'm not stuck in a weird bug loop and my stock is invalid due to price being under the 5% margin

Don't worry, it's not a bug, and you won't lose your boots. They will remain in there until someone buys them at the price you listed. However, considering that people can't actually purchase things listed outside of the current price range the GE provides, you'll probably want to take those boots out and relist them, or they won't sell for a long time. With the system set up as it is, it'd take at least two weeks to make it into your price range, and considering that you'll make more selling them at the higher price there isn't really any reason to not :) .

  8. I don't see why everyone seems to hate this update. For ages people have been complaining that they want tougher challenges - well, now you have one. If you don't want to risk losing however much money when you die at a boss monster, you have to challenge yourself to be more careful. Plus, this change also makes it safer to fight normal monsters without too much risk, which is good for training. Although it isn't really necessary to have for that (and I'd be ok losing my stuff if I died to an easy monster somehow) it is nice to be able to recover your things when you do. After all, there's no reason to have a 2m+ setback from a stupid mistake if you don't need to.

  9. Well, I'm thankful for a lot of things, but currently the one I'm thinking about is

    Butterhorn rolls!

Mmmm, they're so good; I can't stop eating them. We made them about two hours ago and I've already had half a pan. Usually the only way I can manage to leave them alone is when I eat so many I get sick :P . I wonder if there'll even be any left for dinner tonight? (everyone else loves them just as much as I do :) ).

  10. I speak English very well (native tounge) - 1.5 points

Hablo un poco espả̮̱̉ol; no puedo hablarlo muy bien ahora, pero aprender̮̩̉̉ hablarlo bien finalmente - ~1 punto, pienso

I know a ton of other random bits from various languages, and I can sometimes use Spanish to understand other Romance languages - another .5 points, maybe?

    1l= 17 (0l_ll\l75, 1 (4l\l 5l*34l< 1337 \/\/311 - 1 l*01l\l7! :P

So my total is 2.5 for English and Spanish, 3 if you count the bits and pieces, and 4 if you include the 1337 for some reason :P. 2.5 to 4 - not bad, I guess :).

  11. I'd definitely go with the void knight. After all, the armor has been shown to provide more xp/hour than dragonhide, and considering that you're ranging the lack of defense isn't really an issue. As for the Pest Control part, that's not a problem - Pest Control is fun, and decent xp even after the fix.

it has great magic defense! and 200k? isn't alot to fix the set when it hits zero.

Yes, it does have good magic defense, but that doesn't usually matter. After all, when do you typically train on monsters that mage you back? Karil's is good for PVP, but no better than dragonhide most other places, and just because it's "only" 200k to fix doesn't mean that it's smart to use when you could pay 0k in repairs instead :P .

this should go in help and advice...A mod should move it soon

It doesn't have to - it seems like this is posed as a discussion of what people think as well as a question.

  12. What I like to do - read books, read the forums (TIF of course), read articles, read wikipedia, work on projects I enjoy, do homework, and on occasion play other games.

By the way, it would be nice if you would shrink that picture - noone likes a stretched-out thread. Maybe it's something you could do while you're training :) .

  13. quote="Ginger_Warrior"]Can you take these bones out of the crypt to have them ectoed/gilded altered?

I presume not, but it's good to check these things.

No, I just checked and it turns out you can't. It says "You should go to Yu'biusk before burying the bones." if you try.
  14. If they did decide to do it, it could be interesting, but as pointed out by Paw Claw there are a lot of issues with it. Plus, remember that once the event was done, it would take them about 6 months to actually update the game with the results (as revealed by the Development Diaries) and I doubt anyone would remain in favor of it for that long.

  15. I'm pretty sure those statistics they have are fairly accurate. It is possible to be reasonably certain of the information about people who visit sites simply based on their computer information and viewing patterns; not perfect obviously, but close most of the time. (Good thing too, since tons of studies rely on this sort of information to draw conclusions).

But wait a second, how can those statistics be right? They contradict information released by Jagex itself!. Well, here's how: the given statistics are based off the internet average in each catergory, not the objective proportions of each (look to the right of the "Gender" graph heading if you need proof). This means that if the internet averages of each category differ, but the site differs in both by a similar amount, they will appear about the same on the graphs, which can mislead people in judging their relative maginitudes. I might not be completely correct in this assertion, but I believe this is how it works.

  16. I can see why you would want it removed in the training areas, since the begging definitely is more common, but . . . if you remove the gathering skills from the whole system then they can't help in the areas they're actually needed. Maybe they could disable them in some areas, like within a certain range from a bank or in popular training grounds to keep people from being molested about it? Hard to say, no matter what removing them fully could have a disadvantage, but I could see the continual requests being bothersome.

Remember too, the inappropriate requesting will die down soon as the novelty of the AS wears off (it hasn't even been out a week yet) so conditions may not even merit the removal of those skills. We'll just have to wait and see.
