Well someone that works hard to get their skills to 99 can hugely profit on this by selling the goods they get. If you happen to get an extra sword you can give it to a really close friend or sell it for $$$. If it wasn't tradable, people wouldn't really have a reason to go back. But since it is tradable, there will always be a good amount of people at god wars using their skills to profit. It is like with any other skill, anyone that gets it to lvl 99 would want to reap their rewards. Yes, i think it is a little unfair that someone with deep pockets could get the sword in comparison to someone that spent a few hours trying to get the sword. But with the amount of money they can get for the sword, I think it is well worth the price for the people that worked to get it. And you can expect it will become easier to get it once jagex makes a themed world for god wars so there will always be an enormous amount of people there.
