  1. Well, surely it's not all that new players want to do, but it certainly does get a heavy focus, both in RuneScape and other media. Other popular MMORPGs like World of Warcraft focus mostly on combat, as to many video games (Which is a common prerequisite to RuneScape, the common video game)

Now, obviously there are exceptions, but I believe there is a heavy combat focus from newer players, derived both from the general attitude in RuneScape as well as popular culture.

  2. How about that they don't affect players outside the wildy? That would solve it, or if anything, maybe it could affect hellcats and that would make them kill mice faster with posion fangs... (hehehe die mice, die...)

Edit: forgot about mini-games, can work in combat mini-games like castle wars.

Well, personally I have not a doubt in my mind that it wouldn't work in a Non-PvP area (Meaning anywhere that the players cannot attack eachother). It's the same way with the Retribution prayer -- Even if Joe123 dies with it on from a monster, you don't get hit by it, even if it's multicombat, because it's non-PvP.

  3. Yes, all glass items have lost their shine, basically. Why? Who knows, I think the loss of shine has made them look a lot uglier now.

Also, Ghostly Robes in your bank and inventory are no longer transparent-appearing -- They're as solid as Shade Robes and Black Robes (Though when worn are still thankfully quite ghostly).

  4. World 99 :ohnoes: ...That might give Tipit a bad name. Why do people riot anyway?

People riot because they feel that they won't get their say in the RSOF Rant's forum, so they organize a small protest group in the game (Which usually gets nothing done). More people show up, either to support them, flame them, or just to see what's going on, and it grows.

Until Zezima shows up. Then the group begins streaming away like a deflating balloon.

  5. . And mad props for the attempt to make your own chain mail!

Chainmail is a pain in the rear to make. I've tried. Took hours. For a glove.

On Topic: In situations like this, it's my firm belief that the parent is at fault. Video games, especially violent and/or MMORPG games, are usually a scapegoat used by parents (And consequentially whoever reports the story IE: The media) so they can hide their own faults, or their child's underlying issues.

  6. I like several things in a quest.

-- Storyline. Without a storyline, I won't even bother to use my brain on the quest. Period. I hate those random quests where "XYZ NPC needs your help!", then you help him, and 3 years down the road, NOTHING has happened with it.

-- Fighting with an NPC is always really cool. It adds a new element that you usually wouldn't expect -- Swan Song was cool, so was The Femenick Isles.

-- Logic puzzles. I love the quests that put the riddles and such in that you can't for the life of you figure out, but once it's done, you just have to groan "That was so obvious!" On the other hand, I hate quests that put a puzzle that you lose your mind doing (Mourning's End Part II)

-- Doesn't need tons of crazy, random items to complete. I think it really kills the mood when you get out of a dramatic cutscene, the NPC needs to save Joe's life, so you have to travel across the world -- While Joe is bleeding to death. In other words, I like quests that stay focused on their "area" ... Fremenick areas for the various Fremenick quests, Lunar Isle for the Lunar Diplomacy quests. I feel that most every item needed should be able to be found in the general area of the quest, not all the way across the world.

I have a Quest Cape, and I wish a few more quests met at least some of the criteria. Too many quests have potential that gets lost.

  7. That would be weird just thinking about it. Yeah sure.. Headset instead of keyboard and what as a mouse? That would be hard to move to certain places...

    Ns

JUst imagine that in falador park, world 2. With a headset. SELLING BUyi- @))k AZSIGIUZAHselling buyyingoffer noobb@SCVAMMED!!! REPORTEDBUYING!!!1. Imagine that in a headset, with 8 year-olds screaming.

And I thought the constant text was hell, that would be an utter nightmare.

Conversation pic. Looks a lot cooler closer up, doesn't it?

    Pic courtesy of RSC

That picture looks cool at first, but when you see the little line below, where I can only assume is the chin, it begins to look like a mouth. Giving the helmet-wearer the ferocious appearance of something found on, oh, Dragon Tales, perhaps?

  9. Somebody try latin...

I'm not sure Jagex would add a hint in the game that involves a real-life language to figure it out. Most likely, that's some sort of ancient Gnome language -- Some of the words are similar to their modern counterparts, but others are different.

  10. The thing is, Varrock is about this size of a real city block, as area all of the other cities in RuneScape. Therefore, RuneScape would probably be about the size of a small town

Exactly. My small town would probably take me 15 - 20 minutes to walk through, not counting outlying rural areas.

It makes me wonder, then... That means that the arctic, complete with penguins, is only a few city blocks away from a sun-scorched desert!

  11. Human graphics updates would be great, I'd love it, but I'm sure if it was to ever happen, it'd have to be in small batches (Like how NPC humans in the Falador got updated a bit). The reason? There are so many different possible models of humans. Not only the thousands of NPCs ranging from Man to Jail Guard to Radimus Erkle would need to be updated, there are also hundreds of individual items us humans can put on that would need to be updated to match our slightly modified appearances, etc.

In other words, it'd be a really big update. I'd love it, but unless they've been working on it for some time now behind the scenes, or unless they plan to devote all their manpower to it, it would take several months to complete.

  12.

    I don't believe you.

For one thing: Bronze is not JUST made of copper and tin. Second: Bronze does not NEED to be made of copper and tin. It certainly needs copper, but tin is just a very popular additive, and even then it needs to be mixed with other elements like phosphorus. You don't NEED to add tin for it, and in cases where you did add it, that isn't enough.

Oh and lastly? I doubt any school would make such a stupid question as "How do you make bronze". It is hardly relevant, even when you are studying alloys. There is also the fact that you said "Science Test". That implies you have not reached the stage where it branches into Biology, Chemistry and Physics. I doubt they will teach alloys until you begin studying each branch by itself.

Conclusion: I think you are just pulling out false testimonies to justify yourself.

On his behalf, in my 7th grade Science class some years ago, we were in a class discussion and the question of what the main components of bronze are. I'm sure I "should" have known from my text book and whatnot, but due to RuneScape, I took a bit of an educated guess. Obviously, smithing all night will not help you on a science quiz, but occasionally some random tidbit can point you in the right direction.

RuneScape isn't educational in the "It broadens your horizons" type of sense, but it does improve typing skills, math skills (Even if you don't think about it), money-management (An important life skill), and to some degree, teamwork (Another important life skill). Don't expect to learn about the Treaty of Paris from RuneScape, but perhaps you can learn to manage your money.

  13. I don't think it stinks, but I'm surprised that the Rune Crossbow ended up leaving Karil's in the dust. You'd expect something that takes 10s more levels to use to have a higher bonus, especially granted it's two handed and fires really obscure ammunition (Karil's Crossbow).

  14.

Sanguistion region means region of blood in Latin

Actually it means nothing in Latin...

Well sanguis means blood in lating even if sanguiston dosnt mean region of blood

Exactly. So technically, if you mix the languages, it would become Bloodton Region, or which can be rearranged to become Ton (of) Blood Region. Probably due to those annoying vampyres and tithes.
