  1. It's normal that you can't click the tree - it was like that when I did that part of the quest yesterday. It should have an option when you have selected 'Use' on your hatchet and you mouse over the tree. Try moving your cursor up and down to see if you have missed a bit. For what it's worth, I was using a rune hatchet.

The only other advice that I can give is to look on Youtube to see if you can find a video of someone doing that part to see if there is anything that you have missed.

Sorry I can't be any more help - good luck!

  2. I made a farming calculator (based upon Grimy's) that you may find to be of use. I have copied and pasted the post that I made on another forum:

I decided to go for 99 farming last night and tried to find a calculator that would let me plan the most efficient route for me within my contraints. There was nothing that would let me tweak all the variables and easily see their effects. It will allow you to look at xp rates, time till goal, profit / loss and it will allow you to break these down by farming area (trees, herbs, etc.). This can be seen below:

    Instructions for use:

    1) Click on this link:

    https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0Amy-43KIvNDXdGN1YmhHYUpwaEt2TWdVM3RTMVJpMFE&usp=sharing

    2) Sign in with your google account (you unfortunately need one due to the way google docs handles sharing)

    3) Go to File then Make a Copy:

    makeacopy.png

    4) Set a name for the copied file and then you should be able to edit it. The best test for this is that drop down arrows will appear in the input section(you may need to scroll down). This is shown in the picture below:

    farmcalcinputs.png

    5) Changing any of the inputs will change the outputs in real time. You can either use the drop down arrows or just type directly into the cell. Adjust until you reach a balance of time and money that you are happy with.

It's not been 100% checked yet but I am comfortable with my work and the back end is based upon Grimy's spreadsheets so it should be pretty reliable.

    Hope this helps.

  3. You don't need barrage by any means. I got to Jad this week using the Polypore staff's spell and only used 8 sharks in the process. Having said that, barrage would make things soooooo easy and would be especially useful for reducing damage when being teamed by multiple melee guys. My setup was as below:

    Ahrim's Hood

    Ahrim's Body

    Ahrim's Skirt

    Ganodermic Boots

    Ganodermic Gloves

    Seers Ring

    Polypore Staff

    Amulet of Glory

Skillcape (fletch specifically since my mage cape looks awful with Ahrim's :P)

Blessed shield (switched to this to use rejuvenate to heal)

No aura as I can't afford any (vampirism would be ridiculously useful though)

I didn't use prayer until Jad so just took 2 prayer flasks. I also had 2 extreme magic + 2 extreme defence flasks that I kept forgetting to use. The rest of my inventory was runes for blood barrage (which I didn't use), my shield as mentioned and then sharks. My stats are in my signature (most notably 77 def and 99 mage).

(I still haven't beaten Jad yet though, need to working on my prayer switching whilst concentrating on other things...)

  4. Instancing means that everyone fights him in their own 'mini-world' i.e. everyone gets their own copy of him to fight.

I have no idea about how the instancing works with Bandos but I that's the definition to get you started.

    HTH.

  5. Thanks for the really quick reply.

Wr.t. (4) - What non-DG weapon would you recommend? I don't really feel like getting back into the grind of DG atm (though I will do eventually). Do you recommend barrows because it is better or because EoC has reduced the effectiveness of the other armours?

For the purpose of clarity in the thread, all of my questions are pretty much answered but I am obviously interested if anyone has any more opinions. The only remaining question is of the MTK split and if there are any more opinions on farming / dailies. Also, is flipping still effective?

  6. Hi,

I am coming back to RS after over a year of not playing and a lot seems to have changed (including combat which looks pretty neat now). I only have 20 mil atm and have discovered that many of my items (predominantly my weapons and armour) are now worth nothing. As a result, I have decided to go for a quest cape and do dailies + farming on the side to get experience and to fund 97-99 herb, as many prayer levels as possible and to get some better combat equipment. Onto my questions:

    1) Quests - are there any quests that you would recommend as being particularly useful that I should do first? I unfortunately can't remember how to get a list of all of my completed quests - I remember there being a tool once upon a time that would do it for you.

    2) Dailies - What daily/weekly tasks would you recommend? I can't really remember what dailies i used to do (were along the lines of bstaves) but weekly I used to do MTK, circus, FoG and penguins. Which daily / weekly tasks are still viable? Would you add any to my list? What is the optimum setup for MTK?

    3) Farming - What is the optimum farming run if I am prioritising money making? Is it still herbs and, if so, which? I will probably add some low cost trees to boost the xp.

    4) Combat equipment - For the purposes of questing, I was going to use my old slayer setup - whip / dds, d defender, neitz, torag's plate, d legs, d boots and a glory. Is this setup still semi-viable since the introduction of EoC? I have done the tutorial for EoC and I don't see any particular reason why not.

    My stats are as below:

Thanks in advance for any help.

    Thanks,

  7. You will get the exp according to rs wiki:

The penguins in the room take your suit, and then you are teleported to a cage filled with Icelords. They are level 51 and easy to kill. You may need to kill a few before you can leave, although some people have only had to kill one. Others have had to kill two. So if your level is awfully low or have no armour bring three or four lobsters. The Icelords can range as well, so watch out. (Note: If you are a skiller, you only have to kill one. However, after fight it always gives 40 XP in Attack. Rings of Recoil can be used for the battle, but you need to do at least 1 damage.)

  8. I'm not that sure what exactly is best - I personally do Avantoe because it used to be optimal and it fit in nicely with my herb training.

I might not have a definitive answer but I know of two good places to look:

Runescoop. Nice, simple format but not the most detailed in terms of numbers. Doesn't include things like scroll of life. http://www.runescoop.com/html/rs_MMINDEXMASTERLTD.htm

Grimy's spreadsheets. A lot of tip.iters swear by these. Very detailed but much more complex to work out exactly what you want. https://spreadsheets.google.com/ccc?key=0AhdHFDsdlxujdHZ5WDZDRGo3cU5CeDV4SUE1U2hBLXc&hl=en (forum topic http://forum.tip.it/topic/254457-grimys-spreadsheets/)

    Hope this helps,

    Jonathan

  9. Azeem,

In my personal opinion it completely depends on how you like to play the game. In my case, I really enjoy training my skills. If I were in your position (indeed, I near enough am) I *would* sell my bank for extremes. The reason is that I am happy enough to go off an skill for a while whilst letting the money trickle in from farming / mtk etc so that I can rebuy equipment. Do remember to keep a mil or 2 to keep these going. However, I personally kept my whip as it is easy enough to russle up so armour if I suddenly need to kill things (e.g for supplies or something like hati the wolf). When I sold my bank for the 50m to get 99 mage (I strung jewellery) I was more than worth it because of this. The other fact was it was a level i really wanted so I was really happy about it. If 85 herby is something you really want, then do it.

On the other side of the coin, if combat is what you enjoy most and is your main money maker then definately don't sell your bank, at least not all of it. Keep your basic combat gear so it is not a struggle to regain this at a later date. In this scenario I would strip it down to the essentials and invest the rest in herby. This is predominantly because it's bxpw, otherwise I would just save up for it.

A point that everyone has seemed to miss is that if you invest 40m in bxpw, you won't lose all of it. How much you get back will be dependant on your method but I would assume it would be enough to buy back the essentials.

    Hope this helps,

Jonathan (who will have extremes by the end of bxpw)

  10. The thing that annoys me about *some* pures is how judgemental they can be about your character and treat you like an idiot because you train your skills in a certain way. I have been asked on multiple occasions why my strength level sucks (my stats are att 92/ str 90 / 76). Ok, I'll admit, it isn't exactly the best in the world but it suits how I play. However, if anything sucks it's my defence level!

The other thing that annoys me is how they tend to act as if they are entitled to everything because of the way their account is made. Taking the druids example - you should be helping them out with food etc to help them deal with their lower defence. Overwise you just get flamed and the ignore list takes over...

Thankfully I don't run into pures too much but normally when I play on my lower leveled account on f2p the conversation always sways towards my main.

I suppose this thread goes to show that it isn't just pures that act like this though - it's the whole of RS!
