Here is my guide to Chain Farming, which is basically non-stop farming; you finish a route, get restocked on supplies, and then do it again...and again...and again...etc. Well, here goes... JOSEPHGREGG'S GUIDE TO CHAIN FARMING WARNING: This guide was not made to contain all the information needed for farming in general; it is highly recommended that you use this guide in conjunction with Tip.Its Farming Skill Guide. Items Needed: The following items should be stored in your bank until this guide says that you need them in your inventory/equipped. -Seeds (shown below) -Teleportation Tablets (1 Varrock, 2 Falador, 1 Camelot, 1 Ardougne) -Sacks and Baskets -Ectophial -Plant Pots -Axe (equipped) -Payments for: 8 Allotment Patches, 5 Tree Patches, 5 Fruit Tree Patches, and 2 Bush Patches -Energy Potions/Strange Fruit/Anything that restored Run Energy -10,000 gp (Keep in your inventory at all times in case of an emergency) In Leprechaun Storage: -Compost or Super Compost -Rake -Seed dibber -Spade -Secateurs, either Magic or Normal -Watering Can -Gardening Trowel Amount of seeds needed for each trip: -24 Allotment Seeds -4 Herb seeds -4 Flower seeds -5 Tree seeds -5 Fruit Tree seeds -2 Bush seeds The Route: Section 1: Lumbridge Home teleport to Lumbridge and make sure that you have the following items in your inventory: An Axe, 1 Bush seed, 1 Tree seed planted in 1 Plant Pot and watered, the noted payments necessary for the farmers to watch over your crops, and 1 Falador tele. Take the canoe up to the Champions' Guild and plant in the Bush Patch. Take the canoe back down to Lumbridge. Go west around the outer walls of the castle and make a stop at the Tree Patch. Section 2: Draynor Use your Falador tele tablet, and then make a bank stop in Falador to store your harvest and to withdraw: 6 Allotment seeds, 1 Flower seed, 1 Herb seed, sacks/baskets, 1 Tree seed planted in 1 Plant Pot and watered, the payments necessary for the one allotment patch and the tree patch, and a Varrock tele tablet. Go south to the Allotment Patch in the farming area to the south-east. Section 3: Varrock After you have planted in the Draynor/Falador allotment patch, teleport to Varrock using your tele tablet, and go into the courtyard to the tree patch. Head west to the Grand Exchange, where you can buy new supplies and withdraw the following items from your bank: 6 Allotment seeds, 1 Flower seed, 1 Herb seed, 3 Fruit Tree seeds and 3 Tree seeds planted in 6 Plant Pots and watered, 1 Ectophial, 1 Camelot tele tablet, and 1 Falador tele tablet. Next, go to the spirit tree to the North-East of the Grand Exchange and use it to teleport to the Gnome Stronghold. Section 4: Gnome Stronghold and Village Go east of the spirit tree, north of the agility course, and plant in the Fruit Tree patch there. Then go southwest to the Tree Patch near the bank. Then go back to the spirit tree and teleport to the Tree Gnome maze. Once there, talk to the gnome to take you outside of the maze, which is just North-East of the Fruit Tree patch. Section 5: Port Phasmytys After planting in the Fruit Tree patch, use your Ectophial to teleport to the tower north of Port Phasmatys. Head west past the undead farms and plant in the Allotment Patch there. Then use your Falador tele tablet. Section 6: Falador Once in Falador, go to the park and plant in the Tree Patch there. Next, walk along the path going north from Falador to Taverly, and plant in the Tree Patch directly south of the Members' gate. Next, use your Camelot tele tablet. Section 7: Camelot Once in Camelot, walk South-East to Catherby and make a stop in the Catherby bank. While in the bank, withdraw: 12 Allotment seeds, 2 Flower seeds, 2 Herb seeds, sacks/baskets, 2 Fruit Tree seeds planted in 2 Plant Pots and watered, 1 Bush seed, the noted payments necessary for those 7 patches, 60gp, and an Ardougne tele tablet. Then go north to the Allotment Patch and plant in it. Then, go to the Fruit Tree Patch east of Catherby near the agility shortcut over White Wolf Mountain. Then use your Ardougne tele tablet. Section 8: Ardougne Once in Ardougne, go north to the Allotment Patch. Then go to the dock and take the ship for 30 gp to Brimhaven. After you stop at the Fruit Tree Patch south of the dock in Brimhaven Take the ship back to Ardougne for another 30gp and go south to the Bush Patch north of the small monastery. Thats it! Youve finished an entire round! Now, you can either go back to the Grand Exchange, or, if you have enough materials, you can simply home teleport and do it all over again. You can also choose to follow the Allotment Route that is decribed below until your fruit trees are ready; once you have become so efficient at following this route that you have to wait for over 45 minutes before the fruit trees are fully grown (it won't take long to reach that point, as fruit trees generally take over 3 hours to fully grow). Tips: -Using super compost in this route is not necessary, although it is very helpful for the flowers and herbs because there arent any farmers that can take care of them, so they are liable to disease. Super compost costs, as of late August, 2008, between 600 and 650 gp each, so it would cost 4.8k to use super compost on every flower and herb patch in the entire route. Allotment Route The problem with having a chain farming route that includes trees is that, once you get good at completing the route quickly and efficiently, you end up having to wait for the trees, bushes, and fruit trees to grow. Instead of just twiddling your thumbs for hours while you wait for your trees to grow, you can follow the following route that reaches the four easy-to-get-to Allotment Patches. Items Needed: These can be stored in either the bank or in your inventory, enough for one round of all the patches: -Seeds (shown below) -Teleportation Tablets (1 Camelot, 1 Falador (or use the Cabbage Patch Teleport from the ring given to you during the Lumbridge Achievement Diary), 1 Ardougne) -Sacks and Baskets -Ectophial -Payments for 8 Allotment Patches -Energy Potions/Strange Fruit/Anything that restored Run Energy -10,000 gp (Keep in your inventory at all times in case of an emergency) In Leprechaun Storage: -Compost and Empty Buckets -Rake -Seed dibber -Spade -Secateurs -Watering Can -Gardening Trowel -Empty Buckets Amount of seeds needed for each trip: -24 Allotment Seeds -4 Herb seeds -4 Flower seeds The Route: Section 1: Catherby First, go to any bank and withdraw 24 Allotment seeds, 4 Flower seeds, 4 Herb seeds, 1 Camelot tele tab, 1 Falador tele tab, 1 Ardougne tele tab, 1 Ectophial, the noted payments necessary for those 8 Allotment Patches, and 10k gp. Break your Camelot tele tab, and then head South-East until you reach Catherby. Go north of Catherby and plant in the Allotment Patch there. Also, if you are low on any supply, including sacks/baskets, compost/super compost, tools, or any other object, now is the time to restock: buy as many items as you need from the Farming Shop east of the Allotment Patch and then you can either stock those items in your bank or store them in the Leprechaun Storage thingy. Section 2: Draynor After you have finished planting, break your Falador tele tablet or use the Cabbage Patch teleport. Go south from Falador, and then East a bit until you reach the Allotment Patch (unless you used the Cabbage Patch Teleport, in which case you just go north until you see the patch). Section 3: Ardougne Plant in the patches, and then break your Ardougne tele tab. Once in Ardougne, head north to the Allotment Patch. Section 4: Port Phasmytys After youve planted in the patches, use your Ectophial to teleport yourself to the Ectofunctus. Refill your Ectophial if necessary, then head West past the farm with the Undead animals until you reach the Allotment Patch. Once youve planted in the patch, simply home teleport and go to the Lumbridge bank. From there, you can either teleport to Varrock to restock on farming supplies if you need to, or if you have enough supplies, then you can begin either the Allotment Patch route or the other, much longer route. Tips: -It is recommended that you keep an Amulet of Farming or an Amulet of Nature bound to the Lumbridge Tree Patch so that after every round of of the Allotment Patch route, you can rub the amulet to see if the tree has grown yet. If it has, then you know that you can start completing the longer route. If it hasnt, then you should do another round of the Allotment Patch route. That's it! I hope this was informative! If you have any advice on any patches I should add/take out, routes to the patches that will be quicker/better, or any suggestions/advice at all, I would really like to hear them. Thanks! P.S. I'm aware that the formatting isn't great and that it lacks pics, both of which I intend to change when I get the chance.
