@321: To answer your question less eloquently than last night, no, I don't watch my little pony. I've watched a few episodes, but it's never been good enough to make me want to watch. The fanbase is cool sometimes, but I can't stand the show they rally behind.

[hide]Last night I had a dream that S called me right before she was going to commit suicide. That was really saddening. I told her that I loved her, and I read her a poem I wrote in French. We both ended up crying. I woke up before I found out if she actually did kill herself. I'm kinda scared I'm going to lose her now. Not to suicide - she's really harsh on people who commit suicide - but somehow. Either she'll move, or I won't go to college with her, or something will happen. *sigh*[/hide]

I have a (female) friend who enjoys the show. She's not huge into it, but she watches it from time to time. She's accused me of being a brony several times.

That's probably the saddest part of it all. I love the characters. A lot. It's such a shame to see them wasted on such a bad show. In another setting, they'd do really well.

I'm glad I'm not the only one. It's kind of disappointing really. The fanbase is pretty impressive at times, they make some cool stuff, but the show itself isn't very good. And I say that from the standpoint that I watch kid's shows all the time. It's just...bad, really.

If every single person who was actively speaking out against SOPA and PIPA represented 100 dollars, you still wouldn't have a fraction of the money that the RIAA et. al. have pumped into congress to make sure this thing goes through. So basically, even if the entire movement was multiplied by 100 and magically turned into something that matters to politicians, it still wouldn't make a difference That's not true at all. Votes matter more to politicians than money most of the time. And there are a lot of people against SOPA. More than you think, probably.

Nowhere in the problem does it say so, but it seems like it's looking for one. Unless I'm misreading it, y=-ax^3 is supposed to go through every min and max as long as b is positive.

What kind of calc? Give me an example problem. I found that the maxes and mins were located at (b1/2, 4b3/2) and (-b1/2, -4b3/2), so for that question I took the derivative (y'=-3ax2) and set it equal to 4b3/2 and -4b3/2. I don't know what to do from there though. Solving for a gives a number with both b and x in it, and it seems like a should be a number.
