    Newfound Uses for Modern Prayers

    Hello, just wanted to open a thread up to discuss the new range prayer and whether or not it makes the modern prayerbook useful enough to use over curses.

     

    The major argument I see against the modern prayerbook is the lack of SS. However, the 50HP/min Heal-Over-Time prayer is actually a pretty good alternative IMO. Coupled with regen brace, you get 100HP/min H-O-T; over an hour, this is equivalent to the healing from 10 brews every hour.

     

    I can see the modern prayerbook being more useful than curses for:

    -- Armadyl: Arugable, depends on the strength of the range prayer and whether or not it's worth giving up SS

    -- DK Tribriding: The major rate limiting step to tribriding (not 2.5-ing using Losing Games' method, I'm talking about the Prime(til 10%HP)-Rex-KO Prime-Supreme method) is killing prime.

    -- Slaying using ranged

    -- Ranged PKers (I also wonder if they'll get a 2x Dbow spec because of the new ring). Dbow will also now be able to 1 hit people.

    --Potentially even TD's (SS is hard to flick properly there, and requires a lot more extra practice and timing)

     

    What I find interesting is that, if you will remember when Extreme's were first released, one of the major gripes of people, and one of the listed reasons for the removal of the potions from Pvp, is that the Dark Bow could 1-spec people. With the ranging prayer they'll be able to do that anyway, as you mentioned, so what will happen with this prayer? Kind of interesting to think about to be honest.

     

    Not to pinpoint an entire thread to one specific point in a thought, but that is the first thing I see when I think of this along with the Dark bow.

    No, it's not a loose term. The best way to make money is, by definition, the elite way to make money. :rolleyes:

     

    How silly. "Best way to make money" is subjective. "Fastest and most effective" is not.

    Defend yourself all you want: you are what you are. Why you care I haven't the slightest idea. Of course, denying the truth is the first part of acceptance. The next step is making a thread on a forum and flaming anyone who posts otherwise. I guess that is just an internet thing.

     

    Where did he flame anyone? I've seen multiple people flame him, but not the other way around. Please, enlighten us.

    Fair enough, though I can't help but wonder if you know that he hasn't flamed anyone, so you're trying to circumvent that little snag.

     

    You talk about what he is and how he's denying it. What is he exactly? A bully? A big meanie head? As has been argued multiple times in this thread, there's not enough space for everyone to live in peace. Hopping for an hour just isn't worth it, so what do you expect him (or anyone) to do? Elite moneymaking methods are for the elite.

     

    Try soloing Graardor for two weeks and tell us what you think after that.

    First, I'd like to point out that the term "big meanie head" just makes you look like a 5-year-old. Not saying you are, and not trying to flame you. It makes us all look bad. As for what I "expect:" nothing. It'd be nice for him, and any others that fit the first section of my earlier post, to hop a bit before hand and at least try. I know how people are, behind the computer screen, so that is asking a bit much. And "elite moneymaking methods are for the elite?" Sure... Keep telling yourself that. "Elite" is a lose term.

     

    And as for the last part of your post: Why waste my time soloing Graador when I can get all the money with none of the hastle soloing Armadyl? There is always a free world. Always.

     

    Now to wait until my Internet comes back up to post this...

     

    The problem is not enough spawns, and the only one in control of that is Jagex. Don't get mad at the crashers, get mad at Jagex for not being able to figure out instances.

    I think they have it figured out... I'd hate to have every world have server lag as often as 117... And bringing all the boss hunting instances to a single world would only be worse...

    Na. My post makes as much sense as saying instanced areas take quite a bit of resources from a server , and the more that are in session, the more lag there is.

    Actually a better anology might be this:

     

    The OP goes to a park where there are several basketball goals. A bunch of smaller, less experienced kids are playing at the first goal. Instead of the OP going and looking for an open goal, he "crashes" the little kids and takes thier goal. The OP justifies his behavior by telling himself that he "deserves" to use the most convenient goal because he is older and more experienced. After all, he has put the time in to grow and become a better basketball player. He thinks he deserves to use that goal. Once those little kids grow up, they can crash other people. Fair?

     

    In reality, he is a bully. Not an elitist.

     

    You can color it anyway you like. The OP is just hiding behind the anonymity of his/her computer screen and being a bully.

    I refuse to believe that- even the lowly leaf-bladed sword does better than the whip at most dragons(greens and blues might be the gay area). I think you have gotten something horribly wrong, the whip is dreadful at irons/steels.

    How you manage to sit through all the wasted time with bad teams to get that is beyond me. Getting 70 is hard enough :wall:

    My teams are fine. Usually done within 40, most of the time under 35.

     

    80k more tokens until I get to post a similar picture with that maul....

     

    On a related note, I no longer have arms, as the amount of cutting I've done because of World 117 is insane.

    I'm not sure why anyone would use longsword with chaotic kiteshield when the kite gives +2 stab attack. It's low but it's kinda going to waste with longsword...

     

    CLS has an epic stab bonus, watch this guy use CLS for his iron dragons task.

    CLS has the highest stab bonus of any non pvp weapon in the game, +107.

     

    Its 10% more but 25% slower.

     

    And we already know that the guy in that video isn't all that smart or knowledgeable. He's using both bandos boots and DFS when he is praying melee and using super antifires.

     

    I second this, and aside from his [developmentally delayed]ed equipment, he's very slow. He takes his sweet time picking up drops and attacking his dragons. Not exactly a prime example of a master slayer.

     

    He'd be better off using the CLS on slash, too.

    I've powerslayed with CLS. At most it was 10% faster on kills than whip. I thought I was going nuts at first so I brought both CLS and whip on tasks at abby demons, dark beasts, among a few others. Dragons cls won out big time. Everything else the difference is barely noticeable. I was one of the first to get a CLS and one of the biggest advocates for CLS when dungeoneering first came out. I'm 100% convinced now that rapier > cls in probably everywhere except bandos and sara gwd. Now if only I can refund my chaotic kite and long for a rapier and maul or rapier and staff, that'd make me happy :(

     

    Stop with the "CLS is better than Cr only in bandos and sara" statement, I'm quite sure CLS will beat the CR in most bosses currently and the future bosses will only have higher defense giving the CLS the edge. Also to every ones "mathematical formula's and simulations"....none of them work because you don't factor in defense of monster and accuracy, of course CR will win with opponents having 0 defense that's simple logic, but what monster worth killing has 0 defense.

     

    We say it because it is true, mate.

    This thread is stupid, Honestly i don't even think you should post here unless you own a chaotic weapon. Most of this is just mindless speculation wrapped up in blotched mathematics. I just got a cls and i do not think it is a waste at all..

     

    I was just soloing bandos today guy with rapier got maybe 2-10 kills... i admire the speed but when that blade on my mighty longsword comes down even though it may be a second slower i can almost always expect it to shred my enemy.. DElivering a blow that is undoubtedly MORE ACCURATE AND POWERFUL than the CR And that is why i value CLS over rapier. I know at some point i am going to need rapier for slayer.. but right now CLS is the apple of my eye

     

    When you think about it.. The only damn thing CR has over rapier is Speed THATS IT i see everyone saying based on if i monster had 0 def rapier is better.. What if a monster had 1000 def? woudld you really want to take that toothpick into battle?

     

    Rapier is not doing [cabbage] my whip already cant do, And thats official..

    Your whip can't hit 560 without prayer. The Rapier can.

     

    One last thing: If I was up against a monster with 1000 def, I'd use the maul.

    Ah I love this. Make a statement, post a video, then post a fact. To bad...

     

    1) Rapier >>>>>>>> Longsword for ALL metal dragon tasks.

    2) Metals are one of the few things that would have stab used, seeing as it's slash bonus is far better.

    3) It's not even close to epic, considering how close the Rapier is behind it.

     

    In short, The Chaotic Kiteshield has very, very little use overall, most of all with the CLS. The Defender > Chaotic Kiteshield in most cases for either weapon.

    Why do people wear skillcapes?

    I wear a skillcape over everything because I'm a ****ing BAWSE!

     

    Heh. I kid. But still, those that say the skillcapes have "horrible" stats are, to be blunt, morons. It may not have the best stats, but it is far from the worst. I guess it makes it the Chaotic Longsword of capes.

     

    I'm never taking off the Herblore cape when I get it, though. It still has the "rare" value that Fishing did when I got that years ago.
