  1. To the people who were commenting on whether the level 85-armor would be f2p:

Level 85 Hybrid Armour from a variety of minigames.

Looks like it has potential to be a good month, but I'll wait until the updates actually come out before placing judgment on this one.

EDIT: Did anyone else notice they called them "minigames" again and not "Activities"?

  2. Hey Grimy:

So last night Jimi started keying a floor, and we found Necro very early. He soloed and I took over keying for the latter half of the floor. Who gets the floor on their log? Both of us? Neither of us?

Or, Balthamel's idea, which I like best: we each get a 13 minute floor on our log, since we each keyed half of a 26 :D

Why not just give each of them one half of the badge? or maybe give one 3/4 the badge and the other 1/4 the badge..or something?

  3.

Also this really does nothing. Sure osama is finally dead. Now his successor will probably be the one to plan something even worse against the US in retaliation.

Yes, there will be a successor, but Obama, as a founding figure of Al-Queda, and the person who took direct responsibility for the attacks, was extremely important to his people. Think of it as the combined George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, and Gandhi all being killed. So long as he was alive, they would always have him to rally behind, and would never truly have the fight knocked out of them. I believe that killing Bin Laden won't end the war, but you can't end the war without killing Bin Laden.

    ???

WOOOWWWW major typo. My sincerest apologies, it's 2:30 here. #-o

    Fixed.

  5. I am relieved that he has been stopped but I am uncomfortable that everyone is so excited that a person has been killed.

Same. We should be glad, but not like this. Being excited like some people are makes us seem like savages.

This is extremely evident to me as I hear the people down the hall screaming until they're blue in the face and pass out from lack of oxygen.

While it's not a wonderfully exciting thing that a person's been killed, it's still a significant moment for the whole war on terrorism thing. Even if/when he's replaced, it's still not the original person who died. From the point of view of his followers, it is as if the combimation of Abraham Lincoln, Jesus, and Ghandi died.

Wonderful? No, but still one of the most significant moments in the war and much more likely to be effective than the standard airstrike.

  6. Again i understand that someone have reached 120 dung without a hexbow. But if the bow costs to much, it will be another object of grinding. And since it's a rare item in Dungeoneering, it will not affect gaming other than "Ooo you got a Hex? Nice!".

The way I see it is that this wouldn't be a goal to grind for, or even a goal at all. This would just be something that a person could spend their excess tokens on if they so wished, in order to compensate for their bad luck. I view 2m tokens as fair for this, as a fair amount of players will have seen one or two soulgazers by 103/104 dungeoneering (ignoring the fact that they probably bought themselves some shiny new chaotics). This could simply be a mechanism to help people who are interested in perusing dungeoneering even further, but extracting a fair price.

  7. Once again, you don't need to use holiday items at all. They're barely a cosmetic addition anyway, since they just look tacky and terrible in general. Skeleton costume? Jack o Lantern head? What?

After I complete any holiday event, the item "rewards" go straight back to Diango.

How dare you deny the sanctity of the rubber chicken? :P

200k tokens is very cheap for a mid-long term dungeoneer (Thinking 90+). I would've traded my cls for a hexhunter in a heartbeat if it was an option <_< . 200k tokens would make it lose any semblence of rarity. Virtualy everyone on a warped floor would use one.

I actually think 2m tokens wouldn't be very unreasonable for a hexhunter. As many people wouldn't even consider such a price a viable option, it'd still be fairly rare and sought after, but it's still on the table for those shooting for something like the master-cape, but have had a terrible luck-streak (which is entirely possible as far as soulgazers are concerned  )

  8. @Obt: Okay then. He never particularly used the term "undocumented", so I suppose I made the assumption that he meant personal experience in general.

If this is, in fact what he meant, and I merely misinterpreted it, I do apologize.

As to the current point 4 being discussed: The definition of a moderator is "kept or keeping within reasonable or proper limits; not extreme, excessive, or intense". To go through and deal with all the people who have incorrect/inaccurate information is not only an intense increase in workload, but isn't even part of their job description. To redefine this job description would mean to rewrite the internal workings of the forums, and I imagine some people would not be amused to be "censored" in this manner.

The mods primary directive is to serve their community, and dealing with inaccuracies is indeed part of this, however as Koaala just stated, mods who are behind in their information could possibly be prone to inaccuracies. I would propose a new position lower than moderator would be ideal for this goal.

  9. Personal experience and memories really aren't enough to give good advice, you need to educate yourself and keep your eyes open, if you aren't sure about something, DON'T, for the love of god, post your advice.

Did you come up with this concept through personal experience and memories? The artisan-workshop affair sounds like a personal experience to me.

I agree, ignorance is in general something that will hurt the community. However, research can only get you so far. For example, suppose a new update has just been released, such as a new boss monster. Sure, you could go to the KB, look some some of the information there, but in general there is no replacement for actually going to the boss, trying out different methods, and finding out what works best. Personal experience is, in fact, a very specific type of research. Personal experience is key to defining each person's core being, and the difference between people is what generates their different opinions, ideas, and concepts. These items are some of the core foundations behind any successful community. There's no point to a community where every being is the same.

Are personal experiences enough to justify a full-fledged argument? No. However, research, personal experiences, and the combination thereof are the backbone of many concepts and strategies that we use today.

  10. After sleeping on it, here is my NEW dealing with randoms idea:

Everyone starts the clan as unranked. When ranked keyer teams form up, they may have a maximum of ONE unranked member unless there's really just nobody else on. Ideally the team would have one ranked keyer and one ranked wingman to keep an eye on the unrank. The star rank(s) on the team decide based on that floor whether the new member is too horrible to stay in DGS or not, remembering that it's not about making mistakes, it's about the will to improve. If the unrank is polite and quick to do what they're asked, they earn a banana. If they're rude, selfish, or other no-nos, they take a 6 month vacation and can reapply at that time.

That way, every banana rank is a certified non-idiot, and people know that unranks might not be the best addition to the team.

Note that this does not prevent unranks from joining/hosting floors while they're waiting to be reviewed.

That still hurts people like me who have a clan that they're already subscribed to and do not wish to leave it. Personally, I don't believe members or potential-members should be penalized for being in another clan or community.

  11. It's been on the to-do list for a while, but the tokens always found their ways into other things. (First it was chaotic crossbow, then it was rigour for nex teams, etc.)

But yes...58k tokens for t-9, and i'm at 5k atm, since I just purchased rigour (or null, according to the a-log). and I wouldn't mind upgrading it when I got the chance.

EDIT: what's the standard policy for third-binds anyway? The front-post wasn't particularly clear. I still have a platebody since I occasionally keyed for W148 (although I don't believe i'm quite up to the ability-level of the clan's keyers yet), is there a typical third-bind besides that that's generally used?

  12. - We'll be closing the DG Sweepers chat very soon. I know. Very confusing.

Huh? :3 Has DGS got to the point where it's aimed at more higher levels and those DGSing are the ones in the clan? Ooooor.... :ohnoes:

I wouldn't say being able to do floors 30+ is aimed at higher levels. A really promising keyer (jedi) was sub 80 before he came to dgs. He had the right attitude and could key well so he fit in perfectly.

The reason we're closing dg sweepers cc is so we can use the Dgs cc with all the snazzy new ranks (and whats the point in having 2 ccs?)

Just throwing this out there, but that kinda seems unfair to dgsweepers who already have a clan.

I realize my observations on this matter carry limited weight, as i'm unfortunately not a part of the community (I never joined due to the fact that my Berserker is still tier-8 and the front-post emphasises that +100 dgers must have tier 9 or better, sadly), but speaking from this perspective, I would have to say that I am rather discouraged from joining in the future if I have to leave my current community to consistently participate with DGSweepers. Just my thoughts.

  13.

    Boosted grave rush anyone?

Imagine when the ancient mage came and tried to kill your group. XD

EDIT: N64 beat me to it. I fail. :wall:

Yes, it was up to 50 people, that was j-mod confirmed on forums. As I recall, the QFC was posted on the tip.it thread for the Livid Farm update itself.

On another note, Is nex really invulnerable to veng? I know her magic attacks aren't effected by it, but I have seen my character do the little "taste vengeance" line when he gets attacked by melee.

  14. Last time I checked, p-mod reports didn't get priority where macroing was concerned. They got sent to the same detection-system.

Then again, this was from ~1 year ago, so it could've changed since then.

@Knife: Most of the ranks in those j-mod clan-chats have no sense of humor or patience, due to the amount of genuine trolls they see. Innocents get caught in the crossfire all the time.

@Ring: What would you consider popular botting locations? The flax fields? Jagex could ban all the bots there, and they could all be back within under an hour, presuming the owners are on top of things.

  15.

I had a friend literally go up the stairs with me and I never saw him several times, he says he has always been alone at Kuradel and has never seen any other players. Not sure if anything like that has happened to any of you guys who all went to try and see them or whatever but perhaps it did. Idk.

That's because there's two copies of Kuradal's area. One for people who've prepared the dragon-forge and one for people who haven't. :P

  16. I've been hearing this a lot lately, and I cannot figure out for the life of me why. I still consistently get ~1k crims per trip, about the same as before the RoW update.

Maybe I just failed at it before the update. <_<

  17. On the topic of the bet-doubling, I'd have to quote n64jive from a previous thread:

People who say "Oh, as long as you keep doubling, you'll eventually win". Here is a quick spreadsheet analysis

    0	430059	41.01%	1
    1	254355	24.26%	2
    2	149596	14.27%	4
    3	88025	8.39%	8
    4	51998	4.96%	16
    5	30496	2.91%	32
    6	17967	1.71%	64
    7	10643	1.01%	128
    8	6229	0.59%	256
    9	3763	0.36%	512
    10	2233	0.21%	1024
    11	1289	0.12%	2048
    12	771	0.07%	4096
    13	474	0.05%	8192
    14	285	0.03%	16384
    15	162	0.02%	32768
    16	103	0.01%	65536
    17	60	0.01%	131072
    18	33	0.00%	262144
    19	17	0.00%	524288
    20	4	0.00%	1048576
    21	4	0.00%	2097152
    22	3	0.00%	4194304
    23	3	0.00%	8388608
    24	3	0.00%	16777216
    25	1	0.00%	33554432
    1048576

Simply what I did here was use a random number generator to generate ~1.05 million numbers. In this simulation, it kept track of consecutive losses (the amount being the 2nd column, the percentage being the 3rd column).

Dice game doing 60+ gives the player 41% chance of winning. The statistics hold true to the numbers. What you don't realize is that about 2.5% of the time, you will have to risk over 100m. 0.31% of the time, you'll exceed the max cash limit allowed.

Now many will argue "N64Jive, those percentages are so small, that it is very unlikely to happen". 2.5% if actually rather large. I'll agree that .30% is small. However it is probably similar to drop rates of many items that exist in this game.

Conclusion, you can't be statistics. In a negative expectation game, you can and/or will lose.

If you only do this one time? Yes, odds are that you will profit. Doing it repeatedly? Odds are it's going to come back and bite you.
