Low Level Mage armour recomendations

Looking for best armour to protect agains magic (Greater demons) whilst still releatively low level. I'm assuming range gear best against mage? Current stats: Range - 43 Def - 64 MAge - 68 Att - 45 Str - 47 all help appreciated!
