First of all, I completely agree. However, I can also see how people would get annoyed, as I've had the feeling before. Chasing around a 'runner' can be annoying, especially if you just want a quick game. Even worse is when people just run around rocks. With those tactics you just have to keep on chasing them in circles until their run energy is depleted.
