I personally think the GE is an absolute Godsend. I would much rather get the items or resources I need instantly (or conveniently at the very least) than waste time performing mundane tasks to acquire simple items. This way you get get on with what you want to do, when you want to do it. Instead of standing around in banks typeing the same message over and over just hoping that someone has the items you require. And on that point it means you can actually hold a conversation with someone in a bank without your chat box being overloaded by spam.
