I'm not sure I'll find much help here, but I figured I'd give it a try:
I listen to a lot of Elliott Brood (which, for those of you who have never listed to them, is a very, very good band. I highly
their music out), but have not ventured further than them into the genre of alt-country. I'm wondering if any more initiated TIFers could recommend some good artists from the genre, preferably in the same vein as Elliott Brood. -
I'd be interested in doing a list, too.

Big D's really the only band that jumped out at me. No interest in going, though.
Bonnaroo, though, is a whole 'nother story.
-
A good list -- I'm particularly happy to see that another TIFer is a fan of Yeasayer. :D

Stars of the Lid cannot be recommended enough to anyone at all who wants to dive into ambient music. In particular, I suggest their album Stars of the Lid and Their Refinement of Decline.

Vocals: Yuki Chikudate (Asobi Seksu)
Guitars/Programming: Kevin Shields (My Bloody Valentine)
Addition effects such as E-bow: Jónsi Birgisson (Sigur Rós)
Bass: Mauro Pezzente (Godspeed You! Black Emperor)
Drums: Yasunori Takada (Mono)
Of course, they would play shoegazing post-rock with blissful female vocals.
No Bilinda Butcher on vocals? :(

I had an RSC account, played it rarely, mainly just stuffed around. This was before the whole lets remove every inactive account from RSC thing.
After taking a break from RS in general, my account can no longer play RSC.
Same, unfortunately. I'd really like to be able to mess around on my RSC character--after spending... two and a half years of my life on it, I miss the old game. :/

The funniest thing about fatigue (to me) was always how quickly the cheaters got around it. Totally ineffective, and just a pain in the [wagon] for players.

I was a non-player killing miner. :D

I was wondering if any TIFers were fans of the dubstep genre? I quite like it, myself, and my interest in it has been slowly growing for some time.

A few good songs by notable dubstep artists.
Dubstep is a genre of electronic music that has its roots in London's early 2000s UK garage scene. Musically, dubstep is distinguished by its dark mood, sparse rhythms, and emphasis on bass. Dubstep started to spread beyond small local scenes in late 2005 and early 2006, with many websites devoted to the genre appearing on the Internet and thus aiding the growth of the scene, such as dubstepforum, the download site Barefiles and blogs such as gutterbreakz.[1] Simultaneously, the genre was receiving extensive coverage in music magazines such as The Wire and online publications such as Pitchfork Media, with a regular feature entitled The Month In: Grime/Dubstep. Interest in dubstep grew significantly after BBC Radio 1 DJ Mary Anne Hobbs started championing the genre, beginning with a show devoted to it (entitled "Dubstep Warz") in January 2006.[2][3][4] -

I heartily suggest Bailter Space's album Vortura to any and all shoegaze fans.

No, Why? well, Brain damage, Lung damage, other stuff that is assorted to smoking that crap.
I think it should only be used in medical reasons.
I just think marijuana is just a peice of crap that screws up our society.
Im done ranting.
Brain damage? Please.
Respiratory damage can be mitigated by the use of vaporizers, and there have been no conclusive links between marijuana and cancer--in fact, many believe that tetrahydrocannabinol actually has anticarcinogenic properties.

Not runescape, but rather in the space of 2-3 years, going from making almost 0 profit with like.. 12 staff, max, to making millions and millions of profit a year.
I remember a picture being posted here a few years ago of the Jagex staff on their day out paintballing. Then a few short years later, and there are more staff there than can even know each other, and backing investors. It's no longer a personal thing.
Absolutely astonishing.
This.
I think it was when they went premium version. That was the decisive step from being a banner click website, to a real company with real employees not working in their moms basement anymore
Truth is there would be no Runescape or Runescape 2 if it wasn't for the transition. The costs of running the servers and upkeep was too high and nobody clicked banners even though Andrew said we should, threatening to either shut down RS completely or making the game p2p. So he can thank all the lazy buggers of old for now being one of UK's top 100 richest bachelors \
Also, this. And I rofl'd.

It's been 4 weeks since we've had such an update.I don't think RS has ever had such an update drought before.
Back in my day, we were happy to get an update every four weeks.
God, I feel old.

nice
when was "your day"?
Let me put it to you this way: when Jagex was dropping christmas crackers throughout RuneScape, and players everywhere were getting party hats, I was fishing for lobsters, oblivious to it all, and thinking the whole thing was rather silly.

I figured this was a better place for this than any other forum, so...
Any of you have experience with Rockbox? I'm considering installing it on my iPod, but would like to get opinions from others before I do.
